  1. The Governor of Arizona has a major problem in her state so she blames it on the President and asks Washington to fix it. That is the Arizona border too, right? I am not knowledgeable on what steps Arizona is taking beyond this ID law to control their border. What is the Governor of Arizona doing about the problem besides spending money on commercials to try and pass the blame?

I think their governor is calling out the fact that our President made light of the action that their state is trying to take to fix the problem by using it as a punch line in a speech, especially when illegal immigration should be a problem to be fixed at the Federal level. Quite simply, the statement simply told the President to quit making jokes and start doing his job. It seems very understandable to me.

  2. I would have loved it if Highlands had played Simon Kenton last year. Mr. Simpson meet Mr. Roller.:D

Not just Mr. Roller, but the fastest defensive front in the state last year IMO. I think Mr. Simpson, due to a bad wheel, would have had a tough time finishing the game against Highland's defense last season.

  3. It is a gross mischaracterization to say or imply that the reason a lot of kids transfer is simply because they don't get their way, in my opinion after studing a whole lot of transfers. You are right about some, but those are in the small minority.

If you are going to talk about accountability to an organization, team over me, etc why don't we apply those values to the adults surrounding the kids: to coaches that leave a team to take a better coaching position; teachers that switch schools to teach at a district with higher pay or less discipline problems; administrators that switch schools also for various reasons. If they can have the unfettered right to switch, it seems very, very hypocritical to not allow athletes to do the same. Aren't the adults supposed to be the role models for the kids and not the other way around? Oh I get it; it's fine for a teacher, coach or administrator to switch jobs to better his and his family's lifes, but it's not okay for a kid to switch schools to better his/her chances of getting a scholarship; to play for a coach that the player and parents believe is a better role model; to get more playing time (that is the reason a whole lot of kids play athletics you know; to get on the field, court or pitch. Not sit on the bench). Sorry coaches, teachers and administrators if you just been offended; I just have a very hard time understanding the double standard involved here particularly when we are holding kids to a higher standard than we are holding adults.

Your comparing people's careers to playing a sport. Also, most of the people, not all, in the field that your talking about, have learned those lessons at some point in their lives to even want to be a teacher and a coach. As bad as the pay vs. schooling in these areas are, it is easy to see why people would want to work in a more competative district. Especially with some districts reducing pay due to budget cuts. However, how does adults being self-serving justify teaching kids to be self-serving? It is a very slipery slope when you justify teaching children self-serving behavior through means that have traditionally been meant to teach the opposite. We could debate all day why kids transfer, but imo, most do it to have a better chance at winning, not at participating. How many athletic transfers could you name through your experience that weren't already participating before they transfered?

  4. While athletics comes second to academics, time after time I'm told by educators that participation in athletics has a great impact (favorably) on how well a student does in the classroom. Better grades; better attendance; less discipline issues and so on. So while academics comes first the role that athletics plays on academics shouldn't be forgotten. The most important part of athletics should be participation and not on wins and losses. The transfer rule was put in place by adults worried about wins and losses; not worried about participation in my opinion. I don't care where they play; I don't care what impact transfers may have on wins and losses; I just want the kids playing, receiving the many benefits of participation, and off of the couch and the street corner.

I agree with the positives that participation bring. However, I think allowing a kid to shop himself around teaches the opposite of what football is meant to teach. Such things as accountability to an organization, self sacrifice, team over me, are lost if kids are allowed to transfer every time they don't get their way IMO. I think that shouldn't be forgotten when we talk about the transfer rule. This child may learn a very important life lesson through this ineligability. It is not one that he wants to learn I am sure, but one that may serve him in his future.

  5. When i went to school Ryle wasn't a school yet and no built up hate just tired of hereing how Ryle is going to run 6A SK will beat them with ease again!

Enjoy the past. Just remember, the two men pictured in your avatar are gone, and SK doesn't have anyone close to either.

  6. Good luck with that one I don't see him having a better year than last year or throwing for 1894 yards 18 TDs considering his returning recievers didn't catch that many passes.

Travis Elliot 17 catches 147 yds 1 TD

Caleb Lockard 5 catches 54 yards

Deon Mullens 8 catches 98 yards 2 TDs

Taylor Thidobeau 5 catches 54 yards 1 TD

Jacob Burger 3 catches 41 yards

Curious, during your playing tenure, how many times did you beat Ryle? I can only remember two wins vs. the Raiders since Jeff took over as head coach. Correct me if I am wrong, but there seems to be a lot of built up hate. BTW, posters like you make your opposition work harder every day.

  7. Problem 94 is I think RM, like many, is judging an assault weapon by the looks of the rifle. As you well know, they're no worse than your average hunting rifle and in many cases the hunting rifle is more powerful. It's not her fault though, the left did a heck of a campaign back during the Clinton administration to scare as many people as they could.

Very true. I have four "Assault" weapons, but none of them have the distance or impact of any of my "hunting" rifles.

  8. Although I understand your stance on this Camel, I struggle with not allowing legal citizens to vote. It seems un-American to me.

I've heard Neal Boortz say on several occasions that none of us have a "Right" to vote in a federal election. I'm not quite sure what he means by it. Maybe Acemona the teacher can clear this up for me.

I understand where you are coming from, but I simply have a problem with someone on the doll being allowed to vote for leadership that will keep them there. I feel like it is enabling. Obviously, it would never change, but I feel like certain decisions should make you lose the opportunity to vote.

  9. My apology. I forget what literalist we have on here.

Trust in government began to fall in the late 60s (republican govt). It continued to drop during Ford ® and Carter (D) and began to climb during Reagan"s ® first term, but began falling again during his second and continued falling until November of 1995 just before Clinton (D) was re-elected. It continued climbing until post 9-11 when it PEAKED, reaching it highest level in 30 years (my lifetime) and it has been on a steady decline since. But it is higher now than it was in 1994. I should have said it reached its PEAK during my lifetime around 9-11 and has been in steady decline since. However, it will continue to climb, there will be a domestic terrorist event, Obama will handle it well, trust will climb and Obama will be re-elected.

    I suppose we will see.
