  1. Not disputing that at all. However, a little competition in all endeavors might be good for the boone county school system. Right now, I don't see any reason for one school to try to be better than the others in academics, the track team or whatever. They are going to get those kids that are in their district regardless of the quality of their program.

The board will not allow it because it would create school enrollment size problems. There isn't a school in the district that is big enough to accomodate more than 1700. Open enrollment would created more students wanting to attend the same school than that school could accomodate.

  2. Jared wasn't fast but extremely quick. I believe he led the region during basketball in steals his senior year. That right there tells you the athletic ability of someone his size. I think Patrick is a very good high school qb, but has a way to go to be on Jared's level. IMO Jared is the best qb I have ever seen play in NKY..Hands down!!

    AGREED!

  3. Your trying to tell me Jared could throw a ball 60+ yards while rolling out to the right and throw across his body? WRONG! I have although saw Towles in the Withrow game throw one about 65 yards as time expired in the 1st half. And to say Jared never ran cause he always found an open receiver is ludicrous.

Yes he did. 1998 Campbell County thrashing he rolled to his own sideline between the 35 and 40 hand hit a man in stride on the opposite six. I watched it live and on film at least 50 times.

  4. Towles doesnt want to weigh 240. Why would he? That makes no sense what so ever. Talk about avoiding pressure? Towles will have more rushing yards and rushing touchdowns this year then Lorenzen had. And I also think Jared was blessed with some unbelievable receivers. If you gave Towles Derek Smith to throw to it wouldnt even be fair.

Can he roll out to the sideline on his own 35, throw across his body, and hit a reciever on the opposite side of the field on the six yard line in stride? No. Also, the rushing yards didn't happen for Jared. He swatted rushers down with his right hand, or avoided them with his feet, and threw touchdowns with his left hand.

  5. You are wrong in every way possible. Towles is taller, faster, and as accurate as Lorenzen was. Jared will even tell you himself. And its Towles...not Towels.

I don't care what his coach will say about him, I have seen them both play in games. Towles is nowhere near as accurate, not near as heavy, not near as good at avoiding pressure, not near as tough to bring down. Jared couldn't watch himself play, and he is no doubt wanting to talk up his player. To compare the two is ludicrous. I am aware he is as tall, but the weight is uncomparable. As for strength both in the arm and in the body, come on. Are you serious? I am not saying that Towles isn't good, but you are trying to compare him to one of the best that ever played the position at the high school level in this state. He isn't there yet.

  6. So what is your solution?

I don't have one. Other states, such as Ohio and Indy, don't follow the unwritten rule of a new school being built every time a population gets so high. This leads to their classes being played under much more even competition between privates, publics, and schools with open enrollment. Over all, T and X have 6a enrollment. The only problem is that there aren't many other schools in this state that have 6a enrollment.

  7. Not true. The same premise also applies in Class A.

I realized that as soon as I posted it. However, the same applies to A. The schools with those number disadvantages are normally not competative at the state level. You can alsot look at real numbers. Who has a greater advantage, a school with 200 boys over a school with 100, or a school with 1400 over a school with 700?

  8. I would suggest this solution put St. Xavier and Trinity in their own district and if that dosn't work you could at maybe Male and/or Ballard and/or Manual and/or what ever other team out of Jefferson County wins too much. :idunno:

I don't see where this agrgument holds water in the last few years. There have been schools from other areas of the state beat 6A teams in Jefferson county that are not named T or X in this time period. Frankly, I don't see the Manual and Ballard argument at all, and unless Male has several D1 players, they are usually nowhere close to X or T either.

  9. Population is the issue here. The schools with the most boys will do better than the others. Private schools will always have the advantage. At least in Jefferson County. I can only speak of the area I know about. I would even like to see a 6A school win the State outside Jefferson County.

I could win the PowerBall and give a Mil to the Male football team and they would have to share with the girls (and I wouldn't mind that) but the privates don't have that problem.

The 6A out in the state schools... if a kid goes to Ryle he lives in the area, but could he go to Conner/SK if he wants not to attend Ryle? So my question in NKY can a kid go to the school he wants or is he district bound. Is he County bound?

There is a population density problem in Boone Co. Therefore, you must attend the high school in the area for which you live. There are no tuition students and no open enrollment. The ONLY way to attend a high school in the Boone district is to live in that school's area.

  10. Was a joke my friend. I believe all of the grass fields in Boone Co. are a mess. They get freshman, JV and Varsity football games, then throw in girls and boys soccer. The fields take a beating. I say start a school facility tax on the builders who are over building in Boone Co. This fund could easily fund turf fields for Boone, Cooper and Conner.

Here is another idea, raise the funds to get turf.

  11. If Beechwood can score 24 on Highlands at Highlands I don’t see why they couldn’t put up 28 on Cov-Cath. I’m not saying it’s going to happen but if they can put 24 on Highlands who had a mix of starters and reserves playing I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility. Covington Catholic get’s better every game and every practice they play. At the end of the year I think they will surprise some people with there overall record. I think the real question in this game is how the Beechwood defense especially up front will match up with Cov-Cath’s o-line and running game.

    Beechwood scored on Highland's 2's.

  12. So the fact that Hemple hits Lonkard for 46 yards on the opening drive vs. NCC means they have no passing game? Hemple hit 8 different recievers the last game. The average catch is a little over 11 yards per catch....Average passing yards per game is a little less than 100 yards be game, that means that Ryle has no passing game? I hope Dixie goes 10 in the box...they are not totally a run team..come on!!

I think you were missing StraightShooter's point. He was being sarcastic.
