  1. Yes a bit of the luster, but neither loss was a blow out loss and both were to pretty darn good football teams. Which is why I don't buy the "down X team" comments. That was a very good X team last year that beat some very good football teams. If X was down, then all of Oh D1 football was down last year and Oh D1 football isn't as good as claimed year in and year out (which I don't buy either).

These claims are a load of crap. X was an excellent Ohio football team last year. Doesn't X have one state championship throughout their history and Elder two? Being a good football team isn't measured the same way in Ohio because there is much more paridy between teams in every class. At least their has been since the Catholic schools decided that their students had to play on their own side of the river around greater Cincy.

  2. Either way you spin this situation he was in the wrong! Zach's first year Dayton went 8-3 and hosted a home playoff game, however many players from that team and in the city would say that team was Stephen Lickerts team. The Dayton program was headed in the right direction and has went down hill since the 07 team. Its time for a change if not now then it will be to late. Also i have heard that a frist year asst. coach had some things to say the were very negative to the kids, however if Chad Montgomery gets to the run the team the players will rally behind him. I have heard many of the kids state that they want him to be the head coach, the team has been split all summer they must come together and play as a team if they do they will win as a team!

It sounds like the players at Dayton need a lesson on who is in charge of a football team. If players want to backtalk coaches, act in an unsportsmanlike manner, or any other negative context, they should be punished with conditioning, lack of playing time, and eventual suspention from the team. Numbers don't equate to wins, and they certainly don't equate to young men learning the lessons that the sport of football should teach you. It is not a rare thing that young men would prefer not to be under the first adult that has ever attempted to institute discipline into their lives. It is human nature.

  3. Ohhhhh, now I see what you are saying. It's ok to schedule a good 2A team, but not a bad one. My bad, I thought you meant that no 6A school has any business scheduling a 2A school. Thanks for the clarification.

Defend it however you want. Schedule padding does nothing for your program. If you don't see a difference between New Cath and Lloyd you may want to widen your scope on reality.

  4. Of course they will make the playoffs. Playing Lloyd allows Conner to work on perfecting things in order to prepare the team for district play which is when the real season begins. It also allows them to expand their depth by giving some underclassman an opportunity to get some playing time. So what class is NCC in? Doesn't Ryle have them scheduled for next week? What class is Ryle in? I'm sure if Lloyd wasn't down, it would be fine to schedule a 2A team, correct? I also believe that Campbell Co. plays NCC this season as well. Why would they play a 2A team? Aren't they 6A? Many times, the schedule agreements between teams are made in prior years. Didn't Holmes (5A) also play Lloyd? Conner has some very good players coming up in their system, and will be a team to be reckoned with in class 5A beginning next year and beyond. Watch out.

First of all, there is a big difference scheduling the number one team in 2A vs. a team that has less than 30 in their program. Secondly, there is no guarantee that Conner makes the playoffs this year. Ryle, SK, Campbell, and Boone will all have something to say about that. Who knows, Cooper may have something to say about it as well. Playing teams like Highlands, Cov Cath, Henry Clay, Middletown, Scott County, and New Cath far better prepare you for tough NKY competition than South Oldham, Scott, and Lloyd. Their scheduling, as I stated earlier, is a joke. It will be likely that they will have a winning record and not make the playoffs. Congrats.

  5. I think I'm quite realistic.:D I'm not sure your post is germane however, as to whether Highlands is ducking X and T, I think it would be foolish for Highlands to have a schedule with X, T, Cincy X, Colerain, Elder and Moeller on the schedule in the same year. That would be grueling and again foolish for a school Highlands size. But I do know that Highlands did indeed try to schedule T for last year and this year, which History will not accept as being true. Thus he is calling me a liar.

The ducking wasn't my point. I am sure that if Highlands wants to play T, then there will be a spot on the schedule where these two schools could make it happen after realignment. As you know, a two year contract term is ending this year which will allow for multiple schedule changes. If Highlands moves to 4A where there playoff competition will change drastically, I think it would be foolish to play more than two or three of these caliber teams during non-district play.

  6. Or when those Louisville schedule Highlands. For the life of my, I don't understand you almost psychotic obsession on this issue. I don't know if it's a jealousy thing or you played for or support a team that has lost a lot to Highlands. Maybe you just can't stand the Highlands people always thumping their chests on here. You are convinced that it is Highlands ducking all the big schools. Yet I've told you that Mueller and Beatty did try in earnest to schedule a game last year and this year. I told you that I spoke directly to Dale about it. I told you that someone very close to the program saw the e mails going back and forth and Dale actually proposed at least one date that Highlands had available. You must think I'm a liar, since you continue over and over and over again to make the Highlands ducking allegation, a point I don't take kindly to. If you are not willing to call Beatty as I suggested you do, then perhaps you can PM the Guru and get his assessment of my integrity and knowledge of things Highlands and stop the childish behavior and posts.

Lets also be realistic. It isn't in Highlands interest to play more than a couple of really large, physical schools a year. It is excellent to play a couple of non district teams that test you, but your goal is still a 5A state championship. Therefore, you don't want to play a non-district schedule that is so grueling that you are putting starters in the tub by playoff time. I don't blame Dale for playing a couple of tough ones a year, but playing a little less physical schedule on a few also. Why would Highlands want to have a schedule like Colrain, X, Louisville X, Trinity, and Ryle for non district? It is too much. BTW, I put Ryle on that list due to the physicality of the game.

  7. Exactly. So there shouldn't be any need for an opposing coach to see anything wrong with it. It's 2nd & 3rds against 2nd & 3rds.

It is this simple: A coach is not going to keep someone on the schedule who will run up the score as heavy as possible if they have his kids outmatched. You come with a very narrow viewpoint that hasn't spent much time on the other end of that situation.

  8. Judging by your screen name you must have been a victim to that 88-12 thrashing in 1998 by the Birds over the CAMELS.

You are correct. You must be meaning when the reverse was ran with 20 seconds left in the game to score the 88th point. Highlands really needed that work on reverse to get that last touchdown. It wasn't running up the score. There is no alibi for actions like that except to call it what it is. :eyeonyou:

  9. Really....

You do know probably I could of coached that HHS 98 team and beat many teams in the State of Ky that year by 4 TD's.....Lets not overlook the fact that team was pretty darn good. They average 50+ points a game and played the Reserves quite a bit in the 2nd half. I bet if you went back and checked the Offensive scoring for HHS just in the 1st quarter that year, it would be close to 28 points. Let me guess, Dale was throwing the ball with his Soph QB and soon to be UC Superstar Gino Guiduli(sp) while up 35 points. Sorry but that was the base of their offense that year.....Not just take a knee!!!

That is a lame argument if there ever was one. It is classless to put up 70-80 points on teams throwing the ball with division one sophmores in the second half of games. That team was one of the largest reasons that there is a running clock rule in our state today. I also think that Dale realized that he alienated several teams from scheduling Highlands with that season, and has used a different policy for the last several seasons. Sorry, but they most certainly had plays in the book to hand the ball off, and Saturday mornings most certainly provide a jv quarterback an opportunity to throw the ball. As far as NCC goes, I don't see them scheduling Highlands any time soon. They are already not renewing with Ryle on the new contract. I don't see how playing Highlands has an upside for them, including the fact that they are a private school who draws players from some of the same areas as Highlands.

  10. The questions I have for Mr. Krauthammer is that if Liberals have it all wrong and all conservatives are just principled people who are against debt, government intrusion and expansion of power, why then do they support government intrusion into marriage? Why were they so supportive of the patriot act and a new branch of government in the office of homeland security? Where were all the people marching in 3 cornered hats when President Bush and a Republican congress turned a budget surplus into a record deficit? If they are truly for less government intervention and protecting the constitution why are they wanting to repeal the 14th amendment and why the heck are they in support of denying people's 1st amendment rights in New York City? Just curious...

I think you are confused by the Liberal and Conservative label vs. the Democrat and Republican label. Not all Republicans are conservative, just as not all Democrats are Liberals.

  11. I still cant believe Ryle destroyed CCH 61-7 and the Birds handled Ryle like they did. I hate comparing scores but man oh man.

You think the birds handled Ryle? Up at half and two turnovers that led to scores don't spell a handleing, but they did win that time. If the question is how much better is Highlands than Cov Cath, the answer is much better.

  12. I'm not sure if you were serious in the bolded comment, but knowing that some comments made in jest on here can take on a life of their own, I don't think that's it's true that Warner did not shake Mueller's hand after the game. I'm almost 100% certain I saw them shaking hands after the game.

They shook hands and both acted with respect and class.

  13. To suggest "any" coach could win at Highlands unfairly minimizes Coach Mueller's contribution. Not only is he a great coach, but he has stayed with the program. By comparison, last year's graduating Cov. Cath. senior class played under 3 different head football coaches. As talented as Dale is, I am sure he has had plenty of offers to go elsewhere at higher pay. Coach Mueller (like Coach Listerman at Cov. Cath. - b'ball) has no doubt made great financial sacrifices to stay with the program. While community support and tradition are components to the Bluebirds' success, a lesser coach would yield a lesser result. And...."Beat Highlands". :D

He makes financial sacrifice compared to what other job?

  14. Can anybody win at HHS, the system and tradition are so great?

    Discuss ...

Obviously not anybody because Eicher didn't win state with at least 2 NFL players on his team. However, I think at least 50% of the head coaches in this state could win one at Highlands within four years.
