  1. I would consider getting over 150 yards a good game and 2 touchdowns. Most teams run the ball more than they pass in Highschool.

Then I would say that SK didn't shut down Elliot last season. However, I am hearing that UC is thinking about scrimmaging the Pioneers this year. It should be the only test they have on the season since it sounds like another high school team couldn't possibly compete with them.

  2. SK will win there games with Defense every team they played last year had a hard time running on them. I can't wait til SK shows that they are the real deal most the SK players are already mad about Ryle getting all the hype!

I would think they would be mad at their English teachers.

  3. I talked to Chad Lawrence and he said it dont matter whos the line hes ready to show what he's all about and Lockard is strickly Fullback and Line Backer. Lawrence needs 2 seconds to throw and then he's gone 4.5 speed something Hemple or Pike know nothing about!

Can he out run the tooth fairy, the easter bunny, and santa clause?

  4. This is false, nice try though.

You are correct. The fact that Simon Kenton stacked up some six win seasons while losing in round one or not making the playoffs at all this past decade had escaped me. Nice non-district scheduling. Let me correct that. Four seasons with more than seven wins in their entire history.

  5. They should after playing teams like Middletown and Henry Clay!

I didn't realize Henry Clay was a benchmark for sucess in this state. Middletown lost 17 starters from last years squad. Nevertheless, I expect SK to lose at least one if not both of these games. SK will win 6 or 7 games this year, take second in district, and lose in the second round of the playoffs. They will return to mediocrity or below mediocrity by the year after. Actually, I shouldn't say return to mediocrity. You would have once had to be a mediocre team to return there. You could count the number of six win seasons for SK on one hand throughout their history.

  6. It must suck being a Boone or Ryle fan crying about a turf field I think the county should pay for it Kenton county had no problem. Can't wait to check out Simon Kenton's indoor practice field!

It must suck being a Simon Kenton fan knowing that your progam has only beaten Boone or Ryle a handful of times throughout its long history. Simon will be going for their fourth win against Ryle in the last fifteen years this season. They will come up short, and life will return to normal.

  7. Lets be a little more clear ... it is common knowledge that we are talking about the problem with the field/surface sinking/drainage issues with the field itself ... NOT THE TRACK.

2nd, No one in Boone County should have to pay for repairs to the track either (thank goodness they are not) because the track (which was redone ONE or TWO years before the field) had to be razed because of the project with the field. That isn't regular maintenance. The track was basically brand new when it was destroyed for the field upgrade. Therefore, if it has to be fixed now-it should not come out of the budget from the county (because it was brand new when Ryle chose to raze it for the field). Ryle has had 3 new resurfacings for the track in the same period since Boone and Conner have had their last one. That probably speaks to why the county will not pay for that.

But .. while we are on the subject ... lets get back to the field. Who is paying for that? (and don't act like it doesn't have to be fixed)

And .. keep in mind--if you actually read my first posts .. you will see that my issue isn't with Ryle. It is with the BOE. But--as I stated then--the way that the Ryle faithful presents their side of the issues leads people to believe that there is a sense of entitlement that is above and beyond the other schools in the county. Try seeing both sides of the issue as opposed to something that comes out as a whacked out sense of entitlement over the other schools in the district.

I fail to see this percieved sense of entitlement. Ryle has paid for this field with raised funds and they are paying for the following repairs with raised funds.

  8. Ha, ha ... you have no clue whether I know what is up or not.

And I am not going to waste my time arguing with you about it.

I will simply state facts ... the assistant super who is in charge of the facilities (for the BOE) has stated (IN PUBLIC) who is footing the bill for this.

Either he is lying .. or you are ... and he hasn't lied to me in the past.

That doesn't even speak to the coaches in the building at Ryle who have made the same statements.

Do I need to go further?

Lets state the facts. The facts are that the Ryle TRACK is currently being repaired through approval of the Boone County BOE, but not with monetary assistance of the board. The money for the project was provided through fundraising. IMO, it should be provided by the board because it is facility maitinance. However, it is not being provided by the board. It is being provided through funds not given to the turf field contractor for an unfinished job.

  9. There may be some who were bitter. But there are just as many people who aren't big fans of Ryle who thought getting the field was a pretty cool deal.

If Ryle paid for the field (which they did) the other schools shouldn't have a lot to say about it. The problem comes in when people (like one of the ones above) talk about how the taxpayers should support this venture. That is amazing to me. And that speaks to why there are people who are not big fans of Ryle in general. The attitude that we deserve more or better is pretty weak. If you look at the big time powers in this area--you don't see a lot of that kind of attitude.

There are people in this county that have kids that go to one of the other 3 schools who are probably wondering why other schools can not get the basics ... while the county bails Ryle out.

Look ... everyone who gets turf gets the conversation from the vendor as to what they should expect. And if the BOE and Ryle didn't care for the fact that contractors are skirting out of their responsibilities in this economic climate ... the people in this county shouldn't have to foot the bill.

The people in the county didn't have to foot the bill. 50 k was not paid to the original contractor and was set aside to conduct these repairs to the TRACK out of private funds. There are many on this forum that are misinformed.

  10. Actually that is not true at all. Hamilton decided that the NEW government should take on the debt that had been incurred by the individual states during the Revolution. His notion was that as the Federal Gov't paid off that debt it would gain legitimacy with other world powers.

You are correct, for part of his notion. He also felt that by war debt, establishing a national bank, and increasing deficit spending, the new government could centralize power at the federal level. Deficit spending had to occur at the federal level after the NW ordinance of 1787. There were going to be constant battles to be fought, and the navy had to basically be started from scratch. It also didn't take very long for commerce to be interrupted on the open seas by the British, and their naval dominance on the great lakes to become an issue. Hamilton, IMO, was correct. If you don't pay for things that are necessary to the entire nation at the federal level, you don't truly have a federal power. The constant question has been what is necessary?

  11. I think it has been a long time since you have been in a high school social studies class. If a student chooses to take American Gov't there is no way around the discussion of Hamilton and the bank and why the US having debt (at that time) was good. And why he and Jefferson 'fought' over the power of the government - central or de-central.

True, but the part about deficit spending that was good wasn't due to the government providing social programs. It was to build a military, purchase more land and fund the army that was going to be necessary to settle it, and to build infastructure and interstate commerce.

  12. My question is what else has the governor done? Maybe she has done a lot. I don't know. I just find it interesting that those who want less federal government involvement complain about not getting more help instead of doing something about it themselves. What would have happened if the Obama joke had been cracked by say...Ronald Reagan?

I think the complaint comes from the fact that the party who should be doing something about the problem is making fun of the solutions being put into place to stop the problem at the state level.

  13. I've never heard them used interchangeably, as if they're one and the same.

Are their commentators calling elements of the Tea Party movement racists? Sure.

    Is the assessment correct? Probably.

I think you have made my point by linking the two yourself. Is is racist to want the Constitution upheld? Is is racist to want illegal immigrants kept out of your country? Talk about a generalization.:ohbrother:

  14. 4 sightings in the last week in Owen County of a black panther. I wonder is it just a big house cat? My son and his girlfriend claim to have seen one last saturday on their way home from my house. I had my wonders until tonight when he seen it turn over his trash barrel in his back yard, which is a 55 gal. metal drum 3/4 full. When she came home she seen it at the edge of their driveway. Can a housecat turn over a 55 gallon drum barrel? I don't think so. . What should they do if they see it again? I say shoot it if its that close to the house, besides there is no law against shooting a 100 lb housecat is there?

I say shoot it if it is in range, close to the house or not.
