This is a closer match than an Elder or a St. X, but it is still a signifcantly bigger school than Highlands. Highlands would be an Ohio DIII school, like a Columbus DeSales (who they played, and unfortanutely lost to last year). The guys that have seen Trotwood play may agree that Highlands won't see any team the rest of the year as athletic as Trotwood. That doesn't mean that they won't play better TEAMS. Trotwood traditionally has great talent (this year much more than most), but doesn't seem to translate that into playoff wins. Regardless, I would guess after this weekend the Division 5 picture looks like a two man race of Bowling Green and Highlands; with Highlands being a big time favorite. :dancingpa

Trotwoods Coach, Maurice Douglas played at UK with Jeff Kramer and John Shannon, so maybe both of these teams will send some players to UK? How did Highlands defense that big Tight End of TM's??

Trotwood is a Division II School with a ton of talent, possibly the most D-1 Recruits on one team in Ohio with the possible exception of Cincy St. X and Youngstown Cardinal Mooney. If Highlands can handle the athletes they saw tonight, the rest of the Commonwealth should really take note.

This is a great win against one of the most talented squads in Ohio. TM is probaly not one of the better teams, though they may be; having not seen them I won't judge them that way. On paper though, this team will have as many D-1 signings as any team in the state that isn't St. X or Youngstown Cardianl Mooney. Way to go Birds :ylsuper:

You are right about the more poles being problematic with Mercer's indoor field. Both schools are incredibly blessed to have these facilities.

I've posted these before, but here is a look at Mercer's Indoor facility. Keep in mind these pictures are taken from the second story running track. Comparing Corbin's facility to Mercer's is hard, because Mercer's has better outfitting due to the fact that it is newer. The turf is better, the weight room much better and so on. Corbin's is still incredible, just a little older.

Have been in Corbin's and in Mercer's. Mercer's is better, but not a bad category to come second in. I really don't know alot of other schools in the Midwest that have indoor facilities. Columbian HS in Tiffin, OH has one along with a weight room that is over 8000 sq. ft. (supposedly the largest one at any high school, but I cannot confirm that). Massillon Washington is in the phase of fund raising for one. I know that you can find some in Texas and I'm sure there are more elsewhere, but they just don't come to mind.

Got some pics to share of Mercer's new facility. The pictures don't really do it justice, but you will get the idea of the facility though it lacks in conveying the breadth of it. I've seen alot of high school facilities in the Commonwealth and beyond, but probaly can't name one that combines the quality and options this one has. There will be some with bigger weight rooms, but few as well set up with the same quality of products this one has. This weight room is set up to train athletes and train them in efficiently in masse. Some (Belfry's comes to mind) have indoor practice areas, but not at this size. The pictures are taken from a second story running track on which one end will have a cardio circuit eventually put into place. Facilities don't make a program, but they do instill a sense of pride in the players and a larger sense that the community and school is willing to support them in their athletic goals.
