  1. Yeah, like when he said this: "We've gotten into this situation where integrity is really lacking and that's why I'm glad I'm not coaching coaching," he said. "You see we've got a coach at Kentucky who put two schools on probation and he's still coaching. I really don't understand that."

    That was enjoyable.

Well...not every word. I should say I enjoy him more than I expected that I would have. And I certainly didn't say he was a UK fan or didn't mean to imply he was. I do recall now why I read more than I post.

  2. I am starting to really sound like an old timer, and feel like one because I remember when Knight hit the back of Coach Hall's head in the early to mid 70s. Put another way, I like to listen to Knight to find errors and/or hatred of UK. This is not one of them. I give him a pass for this. In fact, and this pains me, he is turning into a somewhat enjoyable personality on TV. I must be getting old.

  3. I still think it's early to say that the Cardinal Basketball team has fallen to mediocrity.

He did say Cardinal Athletics, which (to me) means the entire athletic program. Considering the success of both basketball teams last year, and the success of quite a few other sports, I think his assertion is erroneous.

But, be that as it may, this team has a long way to go, and I think they'll finish well. The good thing about basketball is there are a lot of games left to play, and I think Coach Pitino is among the best at getting his team where they need to be by the end of the regular season.

Good luck to the Cats this year. It would be nice to see them finish undefeated. That would be a great story, last year to this year. Enjoy your season.

He certainly is. I was scared to death in the last minute of the game and as I watched Rick in the press conference I remembered our good years at UK where it was never over. UL will be ready.

  4. I always liked what he said after the loss to Penn State in a bowl a few years ago when a kicker missed a field goal that would have won the game. He was asked as he and Paterno walked off the field what would be said to the kicker and he said something like, "Nothing, he did the best he could." He was literally arm and arm with Paterno and you could tell those guys had been there before.

  5. My favorite film of all time and a great ending. Add The Third Man to my list. atticus, you really know you're cinema!

I love movies Mack and Shane is my dad's all time favorite. My 11 year old watched Casablanca with me the other day and he liked it so it keeps on ticking. Good to post again with you.

  6. From a rabid UK fan remember anything is possible when UK/UL play. If you doubt that just flashback to 1998 when our mighty cats fell to UL at home. We were top 5 and would win the national title and UL did not have a winning record if memory serves. I know that were really down that year. I know for CERTAIN they beat us at RUPP. It hurt and there was nothing I could put on it to make it feel better. So we better be ready.

  7. I go all the way back to all these fellows and it was King Rex and he had little supporting cast coming in compared to Wall. Went pro after his soph year when probation hit. I remember a sports illustrated article on him in the 80s and his verticle leap. Wall is up there but we had to have Rex and he was from Ky. Can anyone forget the dunking contest where Felton Spencer from the Ville set in a chair at 7'2" and let Rex dunk over him. Wow.

  8. I met him a few times. Very nice fellow and I agree, he was very intersting person.

He was in Dallas with JFK that day because press secretary Pierre Salinger couldn't make the trip. He was first to announce to the world the sad news.

Correct me if I'm wrong Atticus, wasn't Kilduff the one who began the Wooly Worm Festival in Lee County back in the early '80's? He was also editor of the Beattyville Enterprise.

I believe that is true. He and his wife Rosemary started or help start this.

  9. Lest we forget Professor, the man who announced President Kennedy was dead to the world, lived in Beattyville until his death a couple of years ago. You can see his hand holding the microphone when President Johnson is getting sworn in as well. Malcom Kilduff was his name. Deputy press secretary. He was a very interesting man.

  10. I will describe this game like I did a UK/UL game when UL was killing us a few years ago: I made my young son go down and watch The Exorcist when he walked in during the game because the content of this game was unsuitable for children. Florida is simply a great team. My concern is if we HAD held them to 10 points we still would have lost. We have to score and I bet a quarterback move is coming soon. It surely would not have made any difference tonight but we looked disorganized on offense. Any thoughts on qb? Should Hartline stay in there or should Fidler or a freshman get a try?

  11. I'm no UL fan but this reminds me of UK v UL a few years ago when it was 31-24 in favor of UL. We were supposed to get killed if I remember but played well and felt good with our team's effort. Last year was 27-2 UK at Louisville. This year we barely win AT HOME and UL, I think, should stay behind their man. We did. It worked out pretty well. I think UL is on the right track.

  12. I had a law school class with Cris while he was a Bengal and he actually gave me and my fellow students the time of day. Nice guy. His brother in law and I did title searches in the Campbell County courthouse and he thought Cris was kind of a dork or geek; but he also thought Cris's wife (his sister) was average looking which she most definitely is/was NOT and consequently, anybody who has ever seen her knows brother John's opinion must be questioned. I like him.

  13. Lets not panic here guys. College football players are involved in fights at parties all the time. Unless they can prove it was one of our boys who fired the shot, they might miss a half or a game.

I wasn't worried until I saw the Rocket was the voice of calm and reason. Now, I am concerned.:D (Sorry Rocket, I couldn't help it)
