TOG...you really need to read my post completely before you instruct someone else to read before replying. I said "The last couple of years" not SCHOOL HISTORY. You're comparing a school that is around 16 or 17 to a school that was around when Abner Doubleday invented the game.

Refresh my memory, but as far as I can recall, the only Cov Cath kid playing college baseball over the past couple of years is Conner Larkin at Georgetown. Ryle has 5 kids playing and 1 playing summer college ball.

...and I am just saying I haven't seen that in the 7 or 8 high school games I have seen him play. He must have had some five for four games when I wasn't there. LOL (and we pitched to him just about every AB )

Just because you're scouted does not mean you have an offer. Right now Luke would have a real challange edging out Frilling at Georgetown.

Mr. Schaffer and Mr. Grote live in the area. I am sure they watched a lot of high school baseball the past few years. Mr. Schaffer's son Jake was just drafted by the Mariners. Don't think an offer has been made to anyone else yet.

So Maile has some offers. Ice is not a D1 pitcher, I guarantee you. But no one else? hmmmmmm. I perfer to compare the 09 Cov Cath team to the 02 Cov Cath, 06 Beechwood and 07 Raiders after the season. Until then it's all speculation.

Hughes and Hatfield are at Transy, Weiss is at NKU, Collins, not sure but I heard he may be a Weslyan or somewhere in Tennessee. What offers are on the table for the 09 Cov Cath super team?

Hughes 1.30 ERA Collins 1.64 ERA Hatfield 2.68 ERA Weiss 2.78 ERA I can live with that. Although none of these pitchers were power pitchers, averaging only 5 K's a game, they got the job done by letting that teriffic defense make plays.

Not at all, but I base my opinion on what I see not what I read on BGP. Luke is a good ball player, not a superstar. Last year for instance he was like 2 for 12 against Ryle, the games I saw, and those were singles. What do you expect me ta say? Man that kid can ground out with style. As far as a judge of tallent I am happy with my abilities there. Coached quite a few years and always kept the best players and never had a loosing season. Judging by position Jeff Wear from Beechwood and Jason Frilling from Walton were two of the best to play the game....without all the hype. I watched Frilling play all summer and I don't think I saw him make a trip to the backstop yet. And he's handeling guys that bring it, like Nate Munch from Brosssart, now at Xavier. Luke will get there but superstar? Not yet.

Sorry....seen him play quite a bit and he has not reached that stature yet.

The 02 Cov Cath team may have been the best in N KY history. The 06 Tigers was loaded and could win any game they wanted to with Curley on the mound. The 07 Raiders had 4 quality pitchers, probably the best defense in N KY and four or five kids that hit around .500, and hit .355 as a team. The 09 Cov Cath team has experience but average tallent, no real super stars and no sure thing on the hill like Curley. They have a very good shot this year but they will have to earn it. I seriously don't think they will be as good as the 07 Cov Cath team with Blesser, Larkin, Popham ect.

Actually, that was the first time in the past few years that Conner beat Ryle so forgive me if I don't see you're one victory as a dynasty. Conner has some good hitters, but they will not have the pitching tp make it out of the ninth.

Absolutely....how could I forget those young men. They will help tremendously.

I think O'Hara, Etch, Friedel, Renda , Meier and Helmer will lead the Raiders to a competitive season and have as good as chance as anybody this year to win the region. If the Murray boys step up it will be a no doubter. Ryle seems to have Cov Cath's number beating them 5 out of 7 times the past 2 years. I'll go with: 1- Ryle 2-Cov Cath 3-Holy Cross 4-Beechwood

If Sears is so used to a tough schedule why would she pass on UK or UL for a tiny school like Union and their weak schedule. I think the Kentucky record books and Oklahoma have picked the winner.

Congrats to the coaches and players for their hard work and dedication to the game. TOG...you would enjoy the state all star games at UK. Two 9 inning games and not a weak spot on the field....some really good baseball from KY's finest players.

Enjoyed the afternoon too TOG....It's geeat to watch the local tallent playing the game they love. Young Mr. Darner might be able to help Coach K out on the hill next year. If he developes a curve ball or change, he will be hard to hit.
