In response to oneijoe, that is offensive to assume that parents who send their kids to JCHS are "settling for good enough." Yes, 20 years ago JCHS was ranked low, but since then Central has been a fabulous school. I know first-hand that Johnson County's academics are VERY strong (Top 20 school district in the state, state and internationally recognized academic team, etc.) and the fact that a high school with quadruple the enrollment and a very much higher number of low-income and special needs students is even close to Paintsville academically says a lot about just how good the Johnson Co. school system and their teachers and administrators are. So, one could argue that if you want your child to have the best education with the best technology, facilities, and opportunities (the number of clubs and sports are vast) then JCHS would be the place to send your child!
