  1. I agree 100%, with both. The Booster Club is having to foot the bill for everything; from transportation to helmet reconditioning and everything in between. You can't ask for a better all around guy than Dennis Davis.
If they don't hire DD their crazy!!! They are gonna struggle to hire a quality coach with no budget, no jobs for assistants (or even for Head possibly), and looking at a potential state takeover. It's awful for the community!!!

  3. There were other factors at play. Specifically the financial woes of MC school system and uncertainties of positions. Not to mention his budget for football next year....$0. School system is in a tough position....hopefully things will turn around for the school and they can move forward. IMO...their first order of business should be to name their interim super permanant super. He is good guy who has communities best Internet at heart.

  4. This is coach Cotton. I'd like to comment and put and end to this thread. I was so desperate to be a head coach I took the job without having met Cook or interviewed with him. My mistake. Then when I did get it I went all in committing to a long term re-building project with all my heart, brought my family here and bought my house. I instituted a program of fairness, character and accountability, began teaching fundamentals, instituted a feeder program, scheduled a freshman and full jv schedule and began the BFS strength and conditioning program. Not surprisingly not every kid and parent bought in right away. These are the things that will begin to show dividends in the long run. Every decision I made was to build long term dividends and permanent lasting success. In essence I was building a PROGRAM not a team for a season. I was given less than 1 year. Big mistake committing to people I don't know. I should have never come here but I'm a grown up and I did and now i'm paying for it. Another coach on my staff moved here from Mississippi and bought a house also. I feel bad for him and i'm sorry. I feel bad for the kids who had now bought in and i'm sorry for what their future looks like now.

Keep your head up Coach...you'll rebound and will be a better Coach and MAN for it!!!

  5. Probably today. Rains will not have parent issues. The only time there is parent issues is if the coach lets there be. Rains has been around a long time and been successful everywhere he has been. I dont see any difference with Mercer. I also want to say...that the admin did an excellent job through this process. They had their guy and went through the process. When they were being bashed on here they were taking care of what they needed to do. This is a homerun hire for them.

  6. Because when interviewed Principal Yates said they could have a coach by February or as late as April. If they don't hire until April then they missed out on spring football, correct? The job has been open for over a month, they just posted it on December 6th. What are they doing to lead me to believe they are trying to find a coach ASAP? Why wait until February? That is my question.

I wouldn't put much stock into that article. MC is much further along then many are giving them

    credit for.

  7. Zach moves extremely well for a kid of his size. The scary thing to me is he really hasnt even matured physically yet. He is still young. I think a couple of years under Rock and he is going to be a specimen. I could easily see Zach in the 325 range in a couple of years. In the clips your watching he was playing at about 305. He is not a fat 305 either. Zach is also a very humble kid who will work hard. His ceiling is extremely high. FTR i have had the pleasure of watching Zach up close for a few years....
