All were open. The dining room was shut down for a few days after some employees tested positive. I don’t know where/how members were exposed, but heard that some members were also positive.

Not sure of the numbers, but I do know that several cases were traced to Ft. Mitchell Country Club.

University Hospital in Cincinnati has a 24/7 Psyc ER too.

The people I know (Including my son) were in familiar social circles and did not wear masks. One major exposure was at a wedding, another was around a friend’s asymptomatic young children, and the third was definitely out socializing without a mask. One of those is on a ventilator.

I now know 6 people in Ft Mitchell diagnosed in the last week. Hope we are not turning into a little hot spot.

Thank you! He only has a sore throat and a stuffy nose. Only got tested because he was with someone who turned up positive last week. He lives alone so quarantining isn’t a problem. Husband and I had brief contact with him last week when he made his usual trip over to steal leftovers from the fridge.

My son was diagnosed today. I officially know someone personally with the virus.

Will life be better in December?

Could that be because of more testing? If those restrictions had not been in place would the rate be 300%? People can be positive for weeks and not know it. I am not discounting your point, just trying to get a grasp as wel all have for the last few months. . The frustrating thing to me is statistics can have a lot of things factored in. It is hard to know how to interpret them.

I walked into Kroger today. Saw the sign about masks being required and wore mine. First two employees I saw had their masks down around their necks. All the shoppers had one on.

We just got back from a vacation in the Clearwater area of Florida. Masks were everywhere and enforced by every restaurant and business that we went to.

For those of you who think that masks don’t work or that it hasn’t been proven to work, let me ask you this. Lets say you were going into the hospital for surgery, something simple, maybe even laparoscopic. Your surgeon tells you that the hospital is out of masks, so the entire surgical team will be operating on you without masks. It’s ok though because they are all healthy. Do you have your surgery?

That is an understatement. Nursing homes are horribly underfunded. If you cannot afford to privately pay, good luck. I think most of society does not view the lives of the elderly as significant. We definitely need to take better care of our seniors.

From an asthma standpoint, you could argue that masks may filter out pollen and other allergens that trigger asthma attacks, thus being beneficial. From a cardiovascular standpoint, the benefit of wearing a mask for a short time in a store far outweighs the risk of death by getting COVID, or the risk of spreading it to someone who could die IMO. Again, I work 12 hour shifts wearing a mask and am on my feet quite a bit, as are thousands of nurses every day. No one has keeled over. I don’t believe for a second that the majority of people who have to do this are adversely affected. Of course, we take breaks From time to time. Quite frankly, I can’t stand my own breath!

Technically, a Rebel can be anyone who rebels against anything. Rebellions happened centuries before the Civil War. Obviously most mascots have a southern connotation, so I can see why African American students might not be comfortable representing their school as a Rebel. Maybe the mascot can evolve into something more politically correct, and still be a Rebel. I am not creative enough to know what that would be. I am very glad our mascot is a Tiger. I can certainly understand the reluctance to want to change.

I agree 100%. Got some lab work done a couple of weeks ago. There was a very elderly gentleman there wearing his oxygen nasal cannula under his mask. It can be done. I work 12 hour shifts in a hospital. I thought wearing a mask that long would drive me nuts, and initially it did a bit, but you get used to it. It’s our new normal.

The ICU beds in our hospital have almost always been 100% full. Pre-COVID, it was not unusual for patients to sit overnight in the ER waiting for beds to open. That being said, the added burden of COVID patients would be taxing. From another viewpoint, those patients who would normally go to an ICU following somewhat elective surgeries (heart valve replacements, non emergent cardiac bypass patients) would not be getting those surgeries, freeing up beds. It is mind boggling how statistics can be skewed depending on the factors taken in. However, I still can’t get New York out of my mind. No way you can skew those refrigeration trucks for dead bodies.

We have done the best we can. I think we are all back to herd immunity at this point.

I think there is no doubt that it is more virulent than the flu. I know someone who had CV and she was never so sick in her life, and she has had the flu before. Comparing death rates is a different story. Almost all health care workers and many people at risk get the flu vaccine which helps prevent both spread, illness and death. Don’t know what the flu infection or death rate would be without the vaccine. Might be closer.

I find that astounding as well. However, I am wondering what we should have done differently. Seems like things were shut down pretty quickly when infections starting showing up in the US. Maybe we should have shut down air travel more quickly? I look at statistics in places like India and Mexico and wonder how we could have done so much worse. Of course, that would mean trusting the statistics, and I noticed that their level of testing is much lower.

You used to hear about “cafeteria Catholics”. We now have cafeteria Corona people. Does anybody really enjoy family reunions under any circumstance?

I have to say, I am seeing fewer masks, and those that have them are often hanging around their necks. People are out and loving it! It will be difficult to put the genie back in the bottle now. Let’s all say a prayer that the pessimistic people are wrong about the CV!
