I am hearing that Highlands is looking for a Freshman Fastpitch coach for this year. Any truth to this?

Yes it is True! We are in need of a Freshman Coach. Unfortunately the Gentleman that was going to Coach decided he couldn’t pull it off, and stepped away from the Position just a few days ago....

Someone mentioned that Kevin Siple & Ken Morgan have both Applied. Anyone else?

Nothing bad. I was just saying can you say who you have heard or would you rather not because they may be on a different staff at this time.

If Newport wins District they could get a good Region draw, possibly sneak into the finals.

I saw the Kid do a Workout a couple of weeks ago up at Highlands. Wow! I'm no Scout but I highly doubt he even goes to School! SPECIAL ATHLETE

I don't remember HHS playing CCH! When did they play? I was talking to one of the HHS coaches yesterday and he predicted a 42-39 HHS win. He wasn't too far off was he?

I've got some chisels (as well as a couple of plane irons) that I need to sharpen. Unfortunately, I don't have anything to do them on right now, so I will have to go buy something. Has anybody done this before, because my question is...what is your go-to sharpening stone?

 

There's waterstones, oilstones and even diamond stones. If you look for it, you can find people who back/prefer each type. Some use sandpaper mounted on glass as part of the process, or maybe a strop afterwards...others don't.

 

I'm not looking at spending a ton of money on these stones, but don't want to waste my time on something too cheap either. Anybody with any recommendations?

There will not be a true NKYFL senior division. Like discussed before, everyone involved knew this was coming and honestly have looked at options over the last couple seasons as to adapting the league.

 

Highlands will play the Norseman Conference. Dayton & Bellevue NKMSSA going forward. Red Devils & Bengal Tigers are still in the process of deciding which way to go with their senior programs.

 

As far as the NKYFL, the divisions will still be starters, midgets, juniors, along with more teams than ever fielding midget youth, and junior youth so I see those levels continuing to grow.

 

The league is also in the process of phasing in the new school age cut off (Aug 1). The goal being to make sure kids are aligning more with their grade level throughout. The original may 1st date aligned with baseball, but doesn’t make much sense anymore as the league has transitioned more towards school feeders and now eventually Middle school feeders.

I saw that. I hadn't realized Ryle, Conner, Cooper, Boone and Lex Cath had formed their own conference separate from the NKMSAA. I don't know how much program crossover there is between the middle school level and high school level with those programs, but it sounds like those teams should offer some good competition for Ft. Thomas.

Yeah it's not doing out 7th/8th graders any good not providing them with Quality outside Competition rather than play each other 4 times in our own League! We're pretty excited to be part of the Norseman Conference.

Some Jersey numbers are still worn in Basketball. Highlands Football has only Two retired that I'm aware of and both of them don't get worn. Pretty sure but not Positive!

Ft Thomas pulled both their Teams out of of the NKYFL. I believe there were only Six last year with Ft Thomas included. Fort Thomas will now put Two 7th grade teams & 8th grade teams in the Norseman League starting this year in 2018.

Use to be the Girls Fast Pitch head coach for years until this year he took the Head Boy's basketball gig. Someone said he has been an assistant to the Boys team for a few years. Never had any Issues with him when we played him in Softball. Always gracious in Defeat and in Victory! Maybe a little over the top at times but most of the time it's for the better of his team. Don't know Roddy personally but he sure gives it his all......

Was at Saturday's game. It is clearly seen that CC's head coach aggressively sticks his tongue out at the head coach of the Birds. The Birds, then proceed to beat the number one team in the state, bringing Jaime Richey's record against this head coach to 3-1.

I would imagine it’s hard to keep kids like “Big E” and Prince interested in playing football when they don’t even go to hhs anymore...

Oh ok....But they did and both were in the Football program at one time.

Be nice to have kids like Prince Baker & Big "E" right now still involved......Is Andre Hall not playing anymore? We have to keep these kids interested. Someone or something is "FAILING" miserably. You hear the saying.....I left money on the Table! Guess what? These Three kids are difference makers....Period!

Somehow I knew this would end up a topic.

 

NO ONE, Dale, Bob Beatty, Chuck Smith or any other great coach you want to mention was going to win a title at Highlands the last two years.

 

Some things that I see that changed after Dale left are lack of self sacrifice and discipline by some players and the team didn’t appear to be as prepared and focused as they used to be.

Wouldn’t it had been nice if the Kid wouldn’t have received some Bad Information as a Freshman to be at Highlands? I’m thinking someone would love to have a “Do-Over” conversation.

What a Shame!

I really am disappointed that Kevin Siple is no longer with the Program.

The Value that he brought to the Program was unprecedented and will be sorely missed.

Why do you think it will be only a city wide search. When the last search got them Lickert who was having success at Holmes.

He probably meant County wide! And I would have to agree with what @BirdDaddy said and what they Lost in the former Coach. I know a few name(s) have been tossed around on here but has anybody officially applied for the Job?

Or does the Campbell County School district have to Post it first before anybody can be seriously considered? Anyway, good luck to the Camels.

I personally know a bunch of those parents who think the Camels should be playing for something bigger than a District title. I love the lofty goals and passion but at some point playing in 6A year in and year out, the Fan base has to be realistic.

Hey, keep moving forward. That's all you can do!

The Camels are stacked with top rate upcoming senior team and any coach would be lucky to step into this program.
