Is it me and my low tech, but men’s semifinals on TBS, TRU and TNT whiles women’s semifinal on ESPN?  Or did I miss the men’s broadcast on a more visible network?

Women's broadcast for the championship was on ABC.

I was very impressed by Coach Staley.

Staley just doesn't do it for me.  That's the right thing for her to say, just not sure she means it.

With that said I've liked Staley at times, but less and less lately.

Is it just me or does it feel like a lot of past female star athletes are anti-Caitlin Clark?

It's sad and it feels like there is a narrative.  Pretty sure someone just stated the only way the WNBA grows, is with support from Women, yet here we are.

  4. I told my buddy, Cal going to Arkansas is kind of like going back to Memphis.  He can be successful there, but regardless of how good he is or isn't it will likely be enough to keep fans happy. Not a lot less pressure but he can always recruit on his ability to get guys to the NBA.  This all raises a lot of questions about UK and it's NIL situation.  A lot of stuff floating around that makes you think NIL for players isn't at the forefront of things. Or Calipari is looking for a clean slate after screwing it up so badly when it started. I could see it either way.

While I hate the late start also, I'm not sure what else they can do. Even the 9:20 tip time is just 6:20 on the West coast. An 8:15 tip as you offered would have the games tipping off at 5:15 right in the middle of rush hour out west.

Let's be real here.  How many folks on the west coast will even tune in for this game?  I agree that's why it's done, but I doubt too many will care.

From a head basketball coach friend on Facebook:

It was an illegal screen!  This whole “you don’t call that in that situation” mentality is crazy to me!  I’ve watched multiple angles and you can clearly see her throw her hip and shoulder into the girl while sliding her foot over in front of her.  That should be called whether there is 4 seconds left or 40 minutes left.

I just watched a 3 minute YouTube video on setting a good screen because I wanted to see if he mentioned what would be called as an illegal screen.  He did in fact say that spreading the feet excessively wide, more so than shoulder width and having the arms crossed with the elbows out would both be called as illegal screens.

Refs taking care to make sure Clark is in the final game!

To an extent, my buddy who knows nothing about basketball thought you can't have your elbows up during a screen, which I didn't catch the first time.  I'd say that's what did it. On first look, I thought it was a no call, but I understood a little bit more after seeing how the screen was set and where her arms were. Still a tough call to make.

This is the first woman’s college basketball game I have seen this year.  I am generally not a fan of woman’s bball but wanted to see what the hype was about.  Iowa is getting a lot of the calls it seems.  I am assuming Clark in the finals is the storyline that is wanted by media and the NCAA?  The free throw discrepancy is crazy.

I know people tend to notice this a lot with Iowa but they are undersized and will attack off the dribble which I think helps with that. Iowa did catch some phantom foul calls against them in first half.

I need Purdue to win 2 more games to capture the top spot in a big work office pool.  I could use the winnings for my vacation.  Hopefully, both UConn and Purdue get to the finals and the UConn bus breaks done on the way to the arena.

Oh, by the way, I didn't have time to fill out a bracket myself.  I used an online randomizer to make my picks.  I sure want to win and drop that fact on my co-workers!  That could be as much fun as getting the $300.  Well, almost.

I need UConn to beat Purdue in the finals and I should get second place in the office pool.  Which is still over $100.00.
