    Hmmm!

Certainly interesting, especially given the high praise he received during the state tournament. Now with that said, I've got no clue if he's even a Kentucky fan. The article I read only stated that he wanted to play closer to home and that UK, Louisville and Tennessee would likely be in the mix.

  2. I'm legitimately disgusted by the Anti-Isreal propaganda all over this country.  It takes a lot for me to raise an eye at stuff nowadays. This stuff is despicable.  It's shameful,  disgusting and just down right awful.

Because they aren’t in regards to pure talent. Now it is a bunch of guys that do specific things well, and have experience playing college basketball. So just because I don’t think they are loaded with talent, I do think the makeup of the team should make them a very good team.

I'm pleased with what Pope has been able to put together so far, given the circumstances. Even freshmen recruits, I don't anticipate being great next year because a lot of guys are already deep in that process. But what Coach Pope has done thus far, is promising.

So far Pope has added three very good tough defensive players. Now need a pg and a few more shooters for his offense.

Still need some legit bigs.  I'd love for Thiero to come back but I think he ends up at PITT or North Carolina.

I would think they will both be starters but I am not a Raiders expert.

Bowers is awesome but I believe Mayer is the complete package right now.

Hadn't realized until now that's where Mayer is. If the raiders do roll with both, man that's a headache for defenses. They could line up in the power I formation and have it be the same as running 4 wide at times.

I truly hope he is sensational at UK.  It would be a great story.

I just have serious doubts.  Nine years as a head coach and has as many NCAA Tournament wins as Scut Farkus.

He graduated from UK.  That's the sole reason he was considered for the job.

BYU was also preseason top 15, roll the dice already.

Apparently he is even considering retirement if he doesn't get a new contract before the season starts.

I'd say he's threatening retirement. I don't believe for a minute you go from I want something more long term, to I'm just going to call it quits.

Former Ryle Raider, Oregon and UK guard, Maddie Scherr is transferring to TCU.   So I guess she is the point to Hailey Van Lith's 2 guard?

She went out west then came back closer to home at UK.  Unfortunately she came back for a coach that was on her way out. I don't see anything wrong with this. Make the most of it while you can. Props to her.

It is looking like the de-escalation moves are going to work. Tensions decrease after Israel's limited,  almost symbolic, attack last night.

Until Iran uses a proxy group to launch another attack at some point and it will happen. But a may be weeks or even months before it does.

Anti-Israel protesters have the Golden Gate Bridge shut down and CHP says there is no timeline for opening the bridge.

As of 2pm EDT, the bridge has been shut down for 3.5 hours and shut down in both directions.

    What a joke...

I don't understand how they let that happen.

    I know right.

If I was in charge and "anyone" launched 200 drones/missiles at the state of Kentucky my minimum response would be a times ten response meaning I would hit them back at least 2000 times.  Furthermore, I would declare that if "anyone" attacks Kentucky again my last (2000 response) would be itsy bitsy teenie weenie compared to what I do next.

I had an entire post typed out prior to my last one and decided not to post it. But yeah, agreed.

Perfect. US has handled this as well as they could so far. Telling Israel to consider shooting down all the drones a victory and trying to stop retaliation, not supporting retaliation  -  all the right responses. Can Isreal get out of war monger mode and win back worldwide support? This is their moment to turn the tide back in Israel's favor.

Yeah, Israel is to blame, they started this.  🙄

Iran is saying that as far as they are concerned this entire thing has concluded.

It's like they fired off these drones and missiles to save face and show their country that they attacked Israel for the consulate bombing.

Iran seems to want to do the first part and hope they don't "Find Out."

Said that early on yesterday.  They'll find out though, Israel can't/won't stop until they win.

It would be a mistake for Iran to use a nuke. Russia and China would likely stand back and let them get what's coming to them.

Not sure Iran would be the one to do it. I could see Israel getting to that point possibly.

  16. 48 minutes ago, Jumper_Dad said:

US actively involved in Israel's defense as reports are already out of US downing drones and missiles intended for Israel.

And reports now that Israel is saying their retaliation will be unprecedented. Not sure if true or not but man this could be bad.

The US General in command of CENTCOM (The US Military Command over the Middle East) is in Israel discussing US aid in defending Israel from pending Iranian attacks.

It is widely accepted that if Israel is ever attack via missiles, drones or aircraft directly from Iran, that they would strike back in kind. Reports are that the General is also discussing how the US could participate in these strikes.

Iran is expected to strike any time in retaliation for some of their soldiers being killed in strikes by Israel in Syria. Those strikes were in retaliation for drone/missile strikes coming out of Syria.

This is the kind of thing that can spin out of control quickly.

And it's not gotten any better within the last 24 hours.  Media is reporting that Russia, India, UK and France have all issued travel warnings due to Israel-Iran tensions.

Also, Kuwait and Qatar, as well as Turkey now, are saying the US can't use their air space to retaliate on behalf of Israel, if and when Iran does attack.

I've mentioned this before, but coaching college basketball is a diminishing proposition and not attractive; hence why you see all programs dice rolling these days. It is 2024, not 1994, and college basketball may not exist in 5-10 years.

I think it will continue to exist. And while it may not be as glamorous as the 90's, there's a lot of money to be made out there as a college coach for a team in a power conference.
