  1. I barely caught it, but in the press release didn't they say they were only releasing redacted video?  Reason being was the ongoing legal proceedings?

I'm indifferent when it comes to LMPD, they're a black eye for the city among many but I'm curious as to why. I hope it's not just for the hell of it and that they do have a definitive video. I'd hate to work there right now.

To me that means he was loading up the charges with each stop but still, that is a lot.

My thoughts as well. Instead of a simple driving on suspended.   The citations turned into driving on suspended, license to be in possession, failure to produce insurance card, failure to maintain insurance, expired registration plate, no registration receipt, no seat belt, and disregarding a stop sign. That's just my guess though and I've never been a fan of that stuff. I don't care if everyone of them is accurate, it's redundant and unnecessary.

    From OutKick on Facebook.

Jemele Hill on Caitlin Clark's success:

"We would all be very naïve if we didn’t say race and her sexuality played a role in her popularity. While so many people are happy for Caitlin’s success — including the players; this has had such an enormous impact on the game..."

I read the article yesterday. I couldn't help but laugh at the end. A'JA Wilson was quoted saying it makes her blood boil when people say it's not about race. Acting as though Caitlin Clark wasn't a huge hit this past season in due to her breaking records, and leading her team to the title game. 🤦‍♂️

He's making an argument about not treating Scheffler different while actively trying to treat him different by not wanting the arraignment moved.

The arraignment isn't moved too often, without it already being agreed upon by the prosecution and the defense, even then it's pretty rare. Now people may waive their preliminary hearing (not the same as arraignment) or ask for it to be continued to a later date for various reasons. I've definitely seen that done as a more common practice.

It was probably communication, following instruction, different communication, confusion, escalation.

Most of the officers I know, just want to make it through their shift and get home. No one goes to work wanting to be in the news.

It is a gray world, not a black and white one. There are always nuances to the story.

Not really, but that mentality is what criminals thrive on. I honestly think it was miscommunication followed by frustration, possibly on both sides.

    Sketchy to prove IMO.

Another fact. Scheffler's car was clearly marked as a player's car. The officer should have known and recognized that. He should have known this wasn't some random person trying to avoid traffic.

I've seen that a few times, but no explanation as to how it was marked. This happened at dusk, before sunlight during rain. Did the car have a bow on it or what?

If the report is true another officer directed Scheffler across the median, reckless flew out the door.

In my opinion that's where it gets murky. Were Officers having other golfers go across the median? Communication is key on both sides.

Under any normal circumstance when that happens the prosecution digs in.

And with an injured police officer, dropping the charges says to every police officer in America, get out of the profession.

Haha like they've not already heard that call. Numbers are low for a reason.

That is why I added Assault 3rd, the mental state there is recklessly.  Here it is again:

508.025 Assault in the third degree.
    (1) A person is guilty of assault in the third degree when the actor:
    (a) Recklessly, with a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument, or intentionally
causes or attempts to cause physical injury to:
    1. A state, county, city, or federal peace officer;

Yeah, to spell that out even further.  You don't have to have intent to do it, just be reckless, in a manor which results in it. The assault 2nd surprised me but again, I know nothing about what happened this morning.

I have no idea on this one but I sure hope the officer that stopped/was injured/and charged Scheffler, was wearing a body cam.  And if he was, I hope that gets released right away.  If he wasn't, ugh.

With all that said, I have no idea what the LMPD policy is on body cams but I can see where a detective working a traffic detail where all hands have to be on deck may not be required to wear a body cam.

At this point I'd say there's no sense in speculation. We've seen both sides, police and golfers (both are human) screw up. I doubt that either side intended to make headlines today before the 2nd round started. I'd say let's hope both sides, recover OK from it.

With that said, I can see a detective not having a body camera for this although I'm sure others likely did. A detective having a body cam at all times, like an officer on patrol isn't the norm or necessary in my opinion. Reason being is because detectives aren't usually responding to or initiating activity that requires them, if they expect a police action is likely or even possible, then they usually have one. However, an incident like this does show why you should/could need one while working a detail, even if it's as simple as a traffic detail.

With all of that said. You could have a large debate as to when law enforcement should or shouldn't have a body camera and when it should or shouldn't be activated etc.

    Machine.

Netflix has cornered the international market, where they are seeing their big gains.

Yeah, in my opinion network and cable programming in the US has really dropped off over the last 5-10 years. But Netflix has thrived with their own originals during that same period. Coupled with the fact that most other countries don't have a fraction of the cable and network content that the US does and the international success is a no brainer.

No doubt.  I have Netflix too so I am safe.  Right now I am just missing Peacock, at least I think that is all.

I'm sure they'll still be on the regional channels for each team. But I'll watch on the Superbox if need be.
