I believe that Trinity had about 10 freshmen last year who practiced with the varsity and never played in a freshman game (and T had a very good frosh team). At least two of them started varsity---CB and QB. If these kids develop normally, work hard and continue with their good attitude, the Rocks could be tough the next few years.

North Oldham is now 16-2 and really playing well. I hope to get out and see them soon.
They are quietly putting together a great year. Are they legitimate state championjship contenders? I think so.

I guess to eliminate teams going for two to get to 36.
Yeah, I always thought was a bad look. But I can see the other side too: put the opponenet out of its misery.

Ky. Is a 6.5 favorite, surprising they aren’t favored more, IMO
I imagine Miss St is physical, and this may account for the thin spread. UK has some great young players but they are not physically mature yet and don't have what I call "man strength." I think this is going to be a problem for this team. As I watch the good teams from the SEC and other conferences on TV - Big East, Big Ten, Big 12 mainly - this relative lack of maturity and strength becomes more apparent to me. Maybe I'm wrong and UK can handle this -----hope so.

Eagles have been hot garbage for a while now.
What happened to them? It has to be some combination of coaching, front office and/or locker room problems. Rarely do you see such a supposedly good team nosedive so badly.

Final now the AFC playoffs for the Divisional Round is set. I thought the Steelers keep playing they just don't have the offensive talent the Bills do.
Exactly. Steelers would not or could not throw the ball downfield, among other things.

Does anyone know the status of Packers RB Corey Dillon? He is a good complement to Aaron Jones.

The goaltending thing in the first half irritates me too. Review it immediately or not at all.
That offensive foul call on Radford as he made the 3 was a garbage call, even though it favored UK.
It looked to me on the offensive foul that the ball had already left the shooter's hand and was in the air so to speak. If so, IMO that would not make it an offensive foul....maybe a loose ball foul.

On the one hand, the officials blew that call. On the other, maybe we should be glad we still have people willing to be officials. I wasn't at the game but I trust both teams and their fans comported themselves well after the game ended, that is, no fights, no berating the officials, no goading, etc. As far as offensive philosophies go, it seems that Trinity's prevailed but that St. X was actually better at it.

With a sense of dread, I am waiting for UK to have that terrible game that seems to happen to all teams at some point. However, today I think if UK can show some toughness on the boards, they can pull out the win. I assume the Aggie crowd will be all jacked up so that will make it tougher. If UK does win, it will be a big win for this team.

I agree. Late.

Is Malachi Coleman the son of the coach?

Shepherd is being too unselfish and I see a little more of "I am going to get mine from a few others". Hopefully they can get theirs, but it won't hurt the team.
Shepherd trying to be unselfish to a fault has seemed to take a little aggressiveness out of his game.
I agree on Sheppard and to a lesser extent on other players trying to get their own. However, I also saw some instances of over-passing resulting in turnovers.

Great win for Assumption and their new coach.

I looked at stat report for St. X and St. X played 9 players and what is remarkable is none of the 9 are seniors.
Maybe we are looking at a return to the Mike Silliman and Tommy Hagan days of the 60's, or even earlier when, I believe, St. X won the state (late 50's, early 60's).

God bless you, LouHSJunkie, for your extensive coverage of Louisville area basketball. Personally, I really appreciate it, as do, I am sure, the great majority of BGP members.

Penix is not as accurate as he has been.

Don't get on Sheppard too hard. Didn't he hit 6 straight free throws down the stretch?

Drae Vasser of Trinity was tourney MVP. He received a small replica of the actual Sugar Bowl trophy.

I hope Trinity isn't worn out for the LIT.

Last time Boyle called Trinity was in their first 5 peat run.. Chuck Smith called and Trinity didn't answer. Maybe Trinity can try calling this time.
Are you sure Coach Smith had the right phone number? I find it hard to believe that Trininty would be lacking the good manners to return the call, even if they did not want to schedule the game.

Penix is the best passer I've seen all season. His accuracy is unreal.

I was impressed with the mobility of Michigan's offensive line. The guards and tackles were adept at pulling, and when they got to where they were going, they were good at "putting a hat on a hat."
