  1. Wow, OK... where do I begin. I guess at the beginning. Virtus is there because Child sexual abuse is a worldwide public health issue. The catholic church recognizes this. Look around, Coaches abuse kids all the time. Teachers... Priests... Neighbors... etc. The rules developed by the catholic church regarding adult contact with a minor are there to combat bad people. Yours or Coach Foust's comfort with those rules isn't my concern. When You Take a JOB as a Coach of a Catholic Girls HS Basketball Team You Should Understand The Requirements. Are You really advocating that a coach call and or text his players individually? You can't be serious. SMH I do find it ironic that a Dixie Fan is posing all these questions, and the loudest voice defending Foust, and person who seems to know they most about why he was let go from NDA, is an assistant coach at Highlands. Neither of whom were present for any of this.
  2. Actually you brought it up by saying that he was asked to leave due to a vertis infraction, which in its nature means inappropriate contact with a minor by an adult. I said I had never heard that. I point out Rick Butler because he is a known... commodity, and people still send their kids to his club/team to be coached by him because they think it will help their kid make their HS team or get a college scholarship. Keeping that in mind, someone saying they would send their kid to be coached by so and so doesn't really carry much weight in my eyes.
  3. ahh the off season.... thank goodness its almost over. lol
  4. The rules that you are referring to are there because of the pedophile crisis that gripped the church a few years ago, and were created to try and keep inappropriate contact between minors and adults in a school situation to a minimum. They are fairly common sense rules in my opinion for anyone dealing with kids as a coach. I had not heard that was why he was asked to leave. Interesting.... The fact that you'd let him coach your daughter doesn't really say much. Look up Rick Butler from Sports Performance Volleyball in Chicago.
  5. I heard Coach Foust moved back home. If he left NDA to pursue other opportunities I wonder why he hasn't landed a job yet, or even better yet, had a job when he left. I think Girls Basketball had 45 jobs to choose from when he stepped down.
  6. Has Coach Foust found another coaching position yet? I know AAU will be rapping up shortly. I wonder what he does then.
  7. I'll be interested to hear their perspective on the experience.
  8. And you both had kids participate in the program, correct? Most people who say such things in my experience have kids who didn't make the team they thought they deserved or weren't on one of the Elite teams. Ask Morgan Hentz if it was a money grab. Every Kid who has attended HP camps that I've spoken to has said that they benefited from the experience. 90% couldn't wait to repeat the experience. The 10% who did not chose not to try again because they realized their Olympic aspirations weren't going to come true and could better spend their money elsewhere. I admit that the A2 & A3 level are a glorified camp to a certain extent, but at each one players compete against girls from across the country of the same level, and these kids get recruited for college as well. Maybe not to top 25 Division 1 volleyball teams, but mid-major on down. At the A1 or National Team level the kids who attend these camps are elite athletes from around the country. If NKYVC is stupid for encouraging their kids to participate then so are these other teams that have kids in the YNT and A1 program. Most of them are part of the who's who in club volleyball. 9. Below are the girls in the Pioneer Region who made it. One girl from the OVR made the Womens Junior Continental Team but she was from Columbus. 10. Exactly, which is why the Zapruder film would be great to see right now.
  11. I AGREE!, There is no place in volleyball for this. First and foremost.... A Parent From an Opposing Team Which Just Lost A Match Should Never Seek Out The Opposing Team's Coach... EVER! The fact that this person did, and then is willing to report the conversation, makes every word suspect. It is not the parents job to protest. It is the coach and club directors. Parents should never speak to Refs, opposing coaches or players, or their own coaches and players, unless it is in a goodwill type of gesture. I suspect that the Libero served for both middles, instead of just one, which in my mind is a reasonable mistake at 12 years old. The coach watching the libero serve for a middle would not immediately cause alarm. I also agree that 3 times in a match would/should have been caught immediately by either the opposing team's coach, or the officials. At 12 years old, I agree that the coach should be sitting at the table with the players. I also think that at this stage of the season kids should know how to perform their reffing duties, such as libero tracking. If they don't it is the ref teams coaches fault. If there is film, it should be known by the parents when this happened, and therefore a search shouldn't need to be conducted. And the video, seeing how it will be from the other side of the net, should easily show the coach's role in the incident. From what I heard, the opposing team's coach (NKYVC) is the one who noticed the Libero serving out of turn. The Game stopped and a ruling was made. The Ref didn't go far enough back in issuing points from illegal serves in NKYVC's opinion. Not sure if its true, but I heard the reffing team didn't track the Libero correctly, so the up-official felt he couldn't prove any additional penalties were warranted. The truth in this situation is that the work team failed in their duties, and I hate that. My daughter, and our club in general, have always taken pride in being a line judge, down ref, or table worker during an opponents match. I'm sure the people involved have learned a valuable life lesson. It's quite easy to drag a person's name through the mud around here. Sometimes its warranted and sometimes not. In this case I'd like to see the film and decide for myself.
  12. "Caught up in the heat of the moment" can have many meanings. It might mean he wasn't paying attention and the girls, knowing the libero is a good server, let her do it. And what if the libero, wanting to win, took it upon herself to serve extra rotations. 12 year old kids are prone to mistakes. From what I heard it didn't matter in the long run so I say you just let it go. Hopefully he learned his lesson.
  13. Um pardon me... I speak jive Dallas, what they were saying is the coach had a Libero serve intentionally three times in a match for three different players. Playing time had nothing to do with it. If that's not enough information I will spell it out further. The implication is that serving your libero 3 out of 6 rotational spots is cheating. Cheating that I'm guessing took place at a 11, 10, or 9 year old level. Carry on.
  14. I will concede that on paper and probably in reality NDA will win the 9th. Beechwood probably will have the best shot and they are in their district. St, Henry will be alright but I don't see them deep enough. Cooper has talent but I'm not sure they can overcome the setter and coaching issues. Ryle seems to have chemistry issues and I heard one of their big outsides from last year is no longer playing. (She's not playing club at the very least.) Scott is not as good as last year. Conner has some talent but a new coach. NCC will ride Rachel as far as she can take them. I'm not sure who else could possibly put together a lineup to compete with them.
  15. Sorry, I knew Shannon was playing at Elevation but it it slipped my mind. When I went to their website and started looking for players I wasn't able to positively identify them because they only list the girls names on their teams and no information about where their from. As far as the girls on the 15-1's go I somehow missed that entirely. Didn't mean to slight anyone. also missing from NKYVC 15-3 Mackenzie Kingerski MH|OH|RS 5' 7" 2019 9' Ashley Bales S|OH 5' 6" 2019 9' Madison McCauley MH|OH|RS 5' 8" 2019 8'11 15-4 Andrea Skubak L 5' 2" 2019
  16. OK barring any incoming freshman that play like Morgan Hentz did, here's what I found on kids attending NDA and there club teams: Who are the players that will start and keep NDA on top in the 9th Region in your opinion. 18. Well my track record with them isn't as good because I chose them to win state last year. I never bet against NDA when Morgan was there.
  19. I don't think I'm drinking the koolaide that you're drinking. It will be fun to see who's right.
  20. I think Dixie has open gyms starting in a week or so.
  21. I thought that was funny too. Why wouldn't Ron want his hooks into SH? Even though kids don't get recruited because of high school parents always seem to gravitate towards clubs where their high school head coach is at. As far as kids and parents go, anything negative about either of them effects the recruiting process. The question is do the benefits of the player outweigh the downside they bring, and can I get an equivalent or better kid with no baggage. Let's face it, college coaches are paid to win. So you may be right that they are still willing to accept the kid, but its probably because they don't have a better alternative right now. If they do all bets are off.
