Colleges don't always know the good players. There are sleepers all over the place. Surely, you don't disagree that it's possible for a recruiter to go to a game, see a one vs. four, the one's got the stud recruit, but they go away impressed with an athlete from the four team? You see watered down, I see more even classes. Programs have to have some sort of success to build.

Florida has eight classes.

How do you get less competition? Right now fours play against ones. Every once in a while a four knocks off a one...right? Henderson co. got beat by a four seed didn't they? Same thing in six classes. It evens out. There are going to be powerhouses regardless of the number. Maybe they might want to add one more instead of six. Try five classes. Leave it like it is and the rich stay rich, the poor stay poor. But everything will be much better if we kick about 6 teams out? The rationale I see on this post and the public/private posts just don't make sense to me. :confused:

No more watered down than they are right now. Are you kidding me? Who's going to schedule someone who is going to beat their brains out? YOU name one... I think more schools would definetely think about it if they had a chance of playing schools with populations close to what they have. Do you know any that won't? Don't hear anyone saying this about basketball when EVERY TEAM has the opportunity to be in the playoffs? OK for basketball, but not for football? Are you kidding me? Are you saying there won't be? anyone with a new team...anyone that makes the playoffs for the first time...anyone who has elevated successes due to the new set up... :banana:

Kentucky doesn't have "barely enough" schools to have five classes. Kentucky has four large classes. Many states have classes with sub 40 schools in classes. Actually, the bigger the class, the less likely of a true champion. The more schools in a class the wider the range in school population. The smaller the class the better the equality. Look at boxing, i think that is the best comparison.

Well, that may be why they are doing it, which to me is beside the point. I think six classes is a great idea for Kentucky football regardless. Look at the bright side, about three or four of the seven or eight schools that everyone is so tore up about will all be in the same class...there will always be excuses I guess.

A few positives: 1. More competitive. 2. Two more titles. which mean more money 3. Smaller districts, which result in better regular season games out of district. Which means more gate money for schools. 4. More schools (mostly class A, and AA will start football programs) 5. Opportunities for more teams to make playoffs, gives opport. for athletes to be seen. (College coaches hit the road during the playoffs.) 6. Opportunities for good assistants to have opportunities for jobs. 7. More communities thinking football. Just a few I can think of off the top of my head.

True, IMO the difference is that they were all young and unproven. I couldn't understand the rotation. I remember on many occasions one seemed to be doing ok then he would rotate the other in. Sometimes it was Ainge, sometimes is was Schaeffer, sometimes clausen. Young QB's will make the mistakes but they've got to work through them at one point. I thought it was odd that they never seemed to have a clear cut frontrunner. I know in Schaeffer's recruitment, many people close to him didn't want him to sign with UT because they felt he would be moved to another position. I think he performed better than they anticipated in drills and preseason. Gave him a better look. I think Ainge is their man. I do not think they ever had any intention of keeping Brent at QB. And I KNOW this goes on in big time college ball. This is happening right now to a QB in our area who is an outstanding athlete who has played QB in HS. They will sign him, play him at QB next season (redshirt) and move him the next year. They are trying to sign him, saying what he wants to hear so they get what they want. If that is not the same tactics that politicians use to get voted in then there ain't no cows in Texas. Just my opinion. But as far as this thread goes I think Burke's going to be a great one. :banana:

Happy is not a concern for a head coach with big expectations. This isn't grade school. There are not 10 coaches in America with higher expectations from their fan base than Fulmer. Politics have zip to do with any decision he makes. If politics were his MO, CJ Leak would have seen a lot of action at qb so that his younger brother would also come to UT. Didn't happen. Chris Leak goes to FLA. Whatever, you must be the expert. Answer this question: Do you think the Tennessee QB situation was handled good? Yes or no? If you say yes, then you know nothing about Tennessee and obviously it didn't work. If you say no then give your opinion why.

Actually, he's not all hype and he wasn't beaten out. He was politic-ed(?) out. But Burke's the investment and NC State better put ALL their money on him, because he can lead them to an ACC title someday.

True. UT was trying to make three qb's happy. I think their plan was to move Shaeffer. It may all be a mute point anyhow, with Werner and Kehoe going to Ole Miss, don't be surprised if he's not a Rebel next year. For the record, I think Burke has a legitimate shot of being in the NFL. He's an incredible player/young man. :thumb:

NC State LOVES Brent Schaeffer. He was their #1 recruit when he opted for Tennessee. Schaeffer will only have two years of eligibility right? That would be Burke's redshirt sophomore year.
