Didnt mean to sound rude...was just giving you my thoughts on the Forum...
Was a nice comeback though..I am sure you will not still be talking about very many of these Super 7 teams come playoff...especially by the time they get to play NKY...:thumb:
Good Luck in NKY

Peter Mikhail put the Colonels in front 1-0 on a one-on-one play with the Mustang keeper at the 11:33 mark of the first half, and then put "insurance run" on the board at the onset of the second half on a goal by Ryan Satek at the 38:54 mark. Aaron Noll pitched the shutout for CovCath.
My mistake - the second goal was also scored by Peter Mikhail.
Dominant performance by the Colonel striker!
Did I catch Mustang using a "soccer term"?? What will the hoop's gods say??
-
Wow--Not even an honorable mention for last year's NKY final poll consensus #1 team?
-
These guys are living the life.....did you say Johnny Holmes? :jump:
I think he's now calling himself JP for some reason??
-
Comfortable saying that CCH's opponent will be NewCath as they were up 4-0 vs. Holy Cross 10 minutes into the game.

Trust me you can ask anyone...I am not taking up for Ashland...my point being this is the Super 7 for the Ashland Paper....not the State or the World...so with comparison to the other teams in the Super 7 area, they have had a tougher schedule than most. That was my only point.
Point taken--I'll stay out of "local affairs" and wait for the playoffs!!
-
Who really cares about the NKY teams you are referring to? I believe the point here is that Ashland HAS played a tough schedule for an Eastern KY team...maybe not up to your standards, but for around here in the Eastern Part it has been a very tough schedule COMPARED to most of the teams in this Super 7.
Last I heard NKY is part of the state, and schedule toughness is normally figured on who you play and where they rank across the state I'd think. No knock on Ashland except I kept hearing week after week about their difficult schedule, and looked at it myself. I used a NKY comparison as its what I'm most familiar with--Sorry you took offense at cold reality?? Hopefully they turn it around and finish strong, despite the monster schedule!!

That's me then ..... I remember Coach Ellis more from the hardwood of the basketball floor coaching Bob Burns, Leo Foster and others of my era. Coach Ellis had to have the gruffest voice of anyone that I have ever heard, and that is true even today.....
I also remember him fondly from the Greyhound Grill--He could tell some stories!!

Sounds like a pretty decent team upcoming in Ft. Mitchell, have they upgraded their schedule/tourneys any this year; its been pretty weak in years past if I'm not mistaken??
-
Beechwood was probably guility of looking ahead a little last week, and Holy Cross does have a good "D". Not the case this week, as the Tigers will cruise down by the river!!
-
I voted for the Indians to win by more than 10, but I'm a little worried, because that means they have to score at least 11?? Seriously, I wouldn't be surprized to see a shutout; and think HC will win this one easily!!
-
Never heard of "Bishop"? Where are they from?
Dayton's pretty good this year though, so you'd have to expect them to be favored.

Nov 2, '07 Open Ashland Blazer
I keep reading about this "tough schedule" that may help justify Ashland's weak 2-6 record, so I though I'd look it up for myself. If this is a "strong schedule" for a high caliber 5-A program then I'm missing something?? I'll give you Russell (a very good 3-A team), Woodford County (a good 5-A team), and possibly Montgomery (a 5-2, 5-A team with a typically weak schedule). The remainder is made up of a couple of decent 1-A teams, and two 1-6, 4-A teams, one of which took them to OT.
Just using NKY as an example how would they fair against a schedule like Dixie Heights', CovCath's, or Highlands'?? Just to compare to Dixie's, which is the weakest of the three:
Aug 25, '07 Beechwood Dixie Heights 17 - 21 (L)--BW probably a little better 1-A than Raceland or Pikeville
Aug 31, '07 Simon Kenton Simon Kenton 26 - 15 (W)--Just handed Russell their first loss
Sep 7, '07 Covington Catholic Dixie Heights 44 - 28 (W)--Defending 3-A state champ
Sep 14, '07 Highlands Dixie Heights 14 - 44 (L)--Highlands--#1 ranked 5-A team
Sep 21, '07 Open Dixie Heights -
Sep 28, '07 Conner Conner 41 - 13 (W)--6-A team having an off year
Oct 5, '07 Holmes Holmes 20 - 33 (L)--An obviouly better than their record 5-A team
Oct 11, '07 Boone County Dixie Heights 27 - 43 (L)--Arguably the top 6-A team in NKY
Oct 19, '07 Scott Scott - 7:30 PM--District Game
Oct 26, '07 Ryle Dixie Heights - 7:00 PM--Other team in the running for NKY 6-A #1
Nov 2, '07 Campbell County Campbell County --6-A playoff #3 seed
Don't think you can use their tough schedule as an excuse!!

Kenny Perry, John Holmes and Steve Flesch---PGA are current pro athletes seeing success at the highest level.

Only 7 of the 38 players on the Eminence roster are seniors.
Two key players will graduate this spring - Isiah Durrett and Nelson Hedges.
Hedges is about 60% of the Warrior offense this year - big, strong, running-back, while Durrett is a lightning quick scatback.
The QB - Dre Banta is a freshman and the primary receiver Ed Berry is a junior.
Thanks for straightening that out. For some reason I had Hedges as a junior?
-
I don't know how senior-laden Eminence is this year but even if they are not it will remain a key game for Brossart. Walton-Verona will obviously be a winnable game too.
I don't think they were too "senior laden", although they did have several senior contributors. They had some good size in the lines with a couple 290+ kids and several in the 250 range. They start a freshman QB, and their main RB's are soph/jrs if memory serves. Agree BB should match up better with Eminence next year, along with Ludlow and Owen. Not sure what WV will have, but obviously a first year varsity team is just that.
-
Final in what appears to be today's only KY high school game. Game a little closer than the final score indicates, and was tied 8-8 at the half. Good effort by both teams, with the Warriors having more size, speed and versitility in the end. Good luck to both the remainder of the season.

Ok, there was three seconds on the clock, and it was second down. Nicholas County took a knee on first down, and then the Pendleton County head coach gave a slit the throat signal and the whole defense lined up on the line of scrimmage. When the ball was snapped the whole defense went for the qb. They piled up on him and his knee was caught in an akward position and it probably tore his acl or mcl.
WOW--That's just very wrong and classless!!!! Surprized to see this out of PC?? I'm sure they were disappointed and expected a win over a 1A school, but this sounds uncalled for. Coach needs to be reprimanded IMO!!
-
at the begginning of last week most of the BGP members were picking Holmes to win with there impressive win last week, but since looking back I see im wrong, and the poll has since changed.
Yeah--It was 41-3 Campbell picks in the BGP contest.
-
Wasnt Holmes favored?
Let's see, a 4-2 6A team that's been ranked in the NKY top ten all year vs. a 2-4 5A team that just broke into the top 10 this week?? I'd guess NO??
-
Yes this was a good win for Scott and Newport's defense was not playing the way they usually do. Now I hate to stray from the game but as we all know it takes a few to damage one's sportsmanship. First it was not at all enjoyable to sit on the visitors side and have a group of men from the other team acting like a group of middle schoolers that had no concept of how to conduct themselves at a high school event. Second of all I was leaving and talking to old friends and noticed that a group of Scott students were tauting the Newport players as they were going to their buses. Once again, good win for Scott -- but a few members of your student body and a group of men made my impression of your school as a school that just can't handle winning.[/QUOTE]
No excuse for these types actions--Very Weak!! Regarding your last statement, they really don't have that much experience in winning at football??
