  1. The "Private Schools" do NOT get support of any kind from the government. NONE. NODDA. ZIP. ZILCH.

So where do you public school guys think the money to run the private schools comes from? It comes from the tuition the student pays to attend that school. Most of which is paid by parents just like you and me who simply want the best for their kids.

The average school teacher in a private school accepts 20% to 30% less for their annual salary than that of their Public School counterpart. They don’t have a pension plan and some don’t have health benefits. They rely on their spouses for benefits. This isn’t a complaint. It’s merely a statement about a conscience decision they each make because of their beliefs in the private system in which they choose to teach. Would you accept the exact same job you are doing today for less money because of your beliefs?

You folks call it recruiting. I’m sorry for your interpretation; but it’s Marketing. It has to be done in order to survive. We don’t have the cushey coffers of the State Government to fall back on when ever a program needs to be added; or a building needs to be built. We can’t go pass a State Bill in the House and/or Senate to raise taxes to give teachers better salaries; or better pensions; or health insurance. The money has to be raised to support the school and it's programs. That just happens to include sports. I for one am very glad it does.

The sad thing about this whole thread/debate is that this is the adults arguing about sports. What is the main purpose of any school? THE EDUCATION OF OUR KIDS INSIDE. If this kind of time and effort was spent on improving the public school systems, think about what we could get done as a nation?

So go ahead; put the Private Schools down for being able to do both, by creating a positive educational environment and an outstanding sports program and all for far less dollars than the Public Schools. We’ve got big shoulders we can carry the load. We’ve been doing it for years and we'll continue to do it for years to come. Just try to stop us.

    You have no clue.

  2. Unfair to whom...you and your personal vision of fairness or the student from the adjoining state, who wishes to attend a private school but has none proximal to him in his own state?

How interesting on one hand the "we pay taxes too" now does not apply but claim an out of state should be allowed if there are no private schools in that particular area. Still, as pointed out, Kentucky is not in the business to provide other state residents features with the taxes we all pay, except the out of state. At least be consistent with positions.

  3.

I have a question for you. Do you hold everyone around you accountable for your actions? If you say yes, then you fall in the irresponsible column.

:walk: :walk: :walk: :walk:

I hold everyone responsible for their actions, how you can misunderstand to read accountable for other actions, that is an issue of thinking you need to work on for yourself. :thumb:

  4. I'm also against the rule that prohibits out-of-state students from playing for Kentucky schools. Paducah has a Catholic school, St. Mary, that usually has a handful of students from Illinois. Christian Fellowship, in Marshall County, has had students from Illinois and Tennessee in the past. Those students attended those schools because there were no private schools in closer proximity to their home. They weren't there for athletic reasons, but they enjoyed the same privilige of competing in athletics as any other student.

But, nothing should entitle them to experience the benefit of Kentucky athletics. They pay tuition only to a private school. There is no other support for this. If the private school supporters wish to claim "we pay taxes too" and there is some validity to that statement, then to be fair, for those that do not contribute one dime, should not have any benefit at all.

  5. I didn't say one thing about cheating. You are wrong with fairness and freedom. Freedom is not free people lose lives for their freedom. I have a friend in Iraq and he says everyday he is so glad his parents corrected him and didn't hold his hand for everything he had to do. I am sick of the whinning. Play with the cards you are dealt with.

If you people had any economic sense you would keep the private schools in. If the private schools get kick out and start their own association then they are aloud to recruit. They can give tuition assistance and then you may have more catholic schools in KY. Now what will that do. It definetly will make it unfair on public schools. How many times are the public schools going to shoot themselves in the head?

Sports are for teamwork and good citizens. Not for mommy hold my hand and everything I do I don't get blamed for. Responsibility- A VERY LOST WORD IN TODAY'S SOCIETY.

I have family in Iraq and I hold everyone around me accountable, everyday and I support public education. So, I ask you - who are "you people" vs. our people. What right do you have to category anyone to you comfort level. What are you really saying between the lines you write? You ask "how many times are the public schools going to shoot themselves in the head?" I will now ask you to post what prior times has this happened (public schools shoot themselves in the head). It will be very interesting to hear your answers.

  6. What are you talking about? What issues? In effect, put up or shut up!!! This board is about football. You are way out of line.

Take a deep breath please. This was not out of line and go back and read the posts regarding the judgement quote of the schools coach. It should be clear.

To the issues detail, it does not belong here, but if you wish, I will pm you.

  7. This is ancient history

Just two years ago?! With a teacher?! Are you sure?!

Ancient history is not the missing view in front of the school. Ancient history is not still being in a position to pay the legal settlement.

Look, the point is simple. Be consistent with the point he was trying to make and be careful to judge other actions vs. your own.

  8. Ft.Campbell and Ft.Knox is at a greater advantage then anyone. I think we need to look into this. What if you were a 2 star General and you love football. You want to boost up you high school football program. What if he said I would like a oh 6-2 270lbs LB from Virginia. So why don't we transfer this guy's dad or mom to Ft.Campbell. Oh we need a RB. Let's see I think Florida might have a good RB. Let's transfer Sgt. "John Doe".

Amazing- isn't it, yet nobody says one word about them. Is it because they haven't won a championship in over 20 years. If this is the case then it is just plain jealousy that Trinity and St.X are successful. Bottom line public schools need to quit whinning, you get good pay(in some areas), great!!! coaches pay, and great health benefits.

Nice, wide brush you use to paint with. Bet you cover a lot of area with those blanket statements. Public schools need to quit whinning.? Are you able to recall the public schools voted it down last time it was presented? Had it not been for the public schools, the measure would have passed. So, be a little considerate instead of assuming.

  9. As the great Coach Schneider said a few years back to all public school administrators. "Hire better coaches".

Also when someone is crowned State champion is it going to say Public School Champion or Private School Champion. To me that is like calling yourself the Intercontinental Champion in the WWE.

I recall when this quote was made. It is a little high handed to say that when, in fact he was and has been in the school administration at NC/NCC when there were some major issues regarding certain priests. So, should the response be, higher more responsible and moral teachers? Fair is fair.

  10. Yeah, notice who keeps bringing other sports and issues up in a baseball forum and after being told by a moderator a few times. Sounds like a need for some remedial BGP set up for some. These are called forums. Each forum covers a sport. Should not be too hard to follow. Keep digging though. It really helps your position.

  11. I'm pretty sure his facts are straight. I was also on BBHS academic team. To compare the teams is apples to oranges (as cliche as that is). I've said this numerous time also. BBHS academic team is a laid back activity for kids to participate in just to hang out. In other words it isn't really taken serous at all, while at CCHS, it is taken more seriously than most sports. We are comparing team sports. Most quick recall matches are manned by one person who answers the majority of questions. Have you ever been to a match. If we are comparing academic teams, why even compare them, CCHS wins in a landslide. If we compare overall academics for a school, the same thing is at stake in BBHS favor. Maybe Campbell offers more classes (they should, they are a 4A public school), but to say that the overall academics is better at CCHS is basically absurd. So let's see, boast about what, academic team and volleyball, or maybe baseball? Recently, baseball has been pretty even, as each team usually wins rather convincingly (albeit CCHS when it counts), but to be bragging about pretty much any acomplishment, CCHS is the wrong school.

As far as scholarship money goes, let's see in the class of 05, I am getting paid to go to Louisville, and UKMustangFan is getting paid to go to NKU. That is two kids out of two on bgp. What about the Brossart grad receiving a full academic ride to Vanderbilt? How about you look at percentage of kids recieving scholarships compared to numbers, Wouldn't that make sense, as we are comparing single A to 4A?

As far as the topic at hand, I'm no moderator, but I know the topic is about the 10th region next year. With many schools graduating many seniors, the region is as wide open as it ever has been in the past.

    The ignorance of youth! :ylsuper:

Young man, until you understand the extreme difference between testing and results for those with disabilities, those on free/reduced lunch, those from broken and/or distressed homes - an effective 25 to 30% of the public school population for Campbell County (Covington has 85% issues) and how it relates to education, you will be lost in the conversation. You do not have a clue (as trouble shooter stated - clueless) how it relates because these issues are virtually absent from BBHS, save for some on free/reduced program. You measure the school for its success with these students because it does not measure up to you?! Pretty arrogant.

Hopefully, later in life you will understand just how lucky and fortunate you are to have the support system outside of the school. At that moment you will understand.

CCHS has an exceptional AP program. Your drop out friends would never get near these classes. CCHS has academic tracks to serve the entire community. Some of which BBHS takes advantage of (read: Vocational School). You would be better served to understand the entire matter than shoot from the hip. In that context CCHS is not and has never been a wrong school. BBHS is not a wrong school, but somewhere in your education you failed to understand comprehension to social problems.

As for baseball, CCHS is on top until they get beat.

  12. According to the article Mr. Draud wants to have the ability to have his grandchildren attend Kenton County Schools.

Let me see if I understand this. He was a superintendent where, lived where and his son went to school where?

    AND NOW

His son lives where, principal where, and wants his kids to go where?

    Interesting.
