  1. The dropped balls are something that can be fixed if the receivers concentrate and work hard. That is something we'll have to wait and see about. As far as the running game goes. That is going to have to be change in personnel and I don't think that happens until week 3. While I was sitting at the SS game watching OCath fail to get an inch in many short yardage situations I wondered if big Nick Norica could line up in the backfield. He doesn't have to run the ball although it couldn't hurt, but let him be the lead blocker. Obviously it can't hurt the running game at all. IMO the OCath defense needs some changes in personnel as well. Rotating guys like Holland, Norcia, Millay, Ijames(when he returns), and even Walker to the defense would help the D out tremendously. From what I have heard OCath should be getting some d-line help this week with the return of one of their injured players.

I think the way OHS can score 31 is by not letting OCath accross the 50 yard line, which I think they can do. If the OCath defense is constantly palying with their backs against the wall then they will make mistakes and OHS can score some points.

I hope OCath proves me wrong, but as I said when the year started I expect an 0-3 start for the Aces, but they will probably make run at semi-state again this year.

I was watching too....I didn't see Nick block all that good when he was lined up tight. His player made some of the plays. So putting him the backfield would make the situation worse. Let's face it this season will get better when Catholic gets back into district play. They are a few games away from playing good ball.

  2. Very surprised at this score! The Purples held the Aces to 0 yards rushing and 12 yards passing and scored another safety. Senior RB Anthony Davis scored twice, on a 35 yd pass play from junior D.L. Moore and on a 44 yd run. Moore also scored on a 53 yd run. Very encouraging!

Yes, that's the same D.L. Moore who is supposed to be a WR. Junior QB Trent Steelman will not be available for the game, and neither will Senior C Aric Johnson. The rest of the team looks fine.

Again, I couldn't make it to the scrimmage, but playing Moore at QB seems to be very promising! There weren't any individual stats available, but judging from the scoring plays, Moore seems to have the penchant for the big play, and that's what the Veer offense thrives on. I can't wait to see how this will work out come Saturday! As for the defense, it looks as if it hasn't skipped a beat from last season. Yes, I know that Apollo and Owensboro Catholic aren't St X, but Anderson, Finch, and Co. will still need to bring their "A" game to the fray! I still think that it'll be a great game like last year's game!:thumb: :D

I don't know about you but when the varsity was in there it was 23-0. I saw a BG team struggling to score on a average defense in 4 quarters. Yes BG's freshmen and JV scored on Catholic's JV and Freshmen in a 10 play deal, but the verdict is still out on both teams. I will be surprised if BG beats St.X, Catholic has along way to go too, but in the past they never do good in scrimmages so hopefully history repeats itself.

  3. The only grabbing done in the Champ game was by OC's linebackers and secondary. That's the problem... I agree with whoever , put more in the box , come up and hit someone ....

Trust me.... There was alot of grabbing from #62 and other linemen. Look at the pics from the Championship game, don't tell me there wasn't any holding. But that game is over what was done is done, the best TEAM won, I just wanted to chime in and let everyone know that.

  4. Against Belfry, Belfry had the better team and Catholic was just out matched defensively -- I don't believe that it was a lack of killer instinct more so than it was a lack of ability. Offensively, Catholic needed about 3-5 more minutes on the clock and history might have been different. Against Russell, Catholic just didn't show up -- period. The Catholic team that beat Ft. Campbell and Trigg Co. was not on the field against Russell.

Maybe not the Belfry game but the Russell game there was a lack of killer instinct.

  5. Good observation. The last 2 state championship games have been a defensive problem for OC. IMO if they could have stacked the line with 9-10 players and had both Belfry and Russell throw the ball some, it MIGHT have made a difference. Why have guys 10-12 yds off the ball when the run is doing you in, and the pass game is idle. I believe against Belfry in 2004, a total of like 3 passes was attempted. Make a running team pass the ball some by stacking the line some. What is the worse that can happen....You lose the game????? Good luck to all the Owensboro / Daviess Co teams this year.

IN both games Catholic Defense was on the field too much that was due to the offense not sustaining any drives. I don't know what game you were watching but I saw 10 people in the box against Belfry and Russell you just have to admit that some of the Catholic kids just don't have it like the Wathen's and Martin twins (a killer instinct). Now against Russell I have no idea the QB was on a different planet that game so it didn't matter what happened. Coach Edge was calling both sides of the ball because his Dcoordinator went on a Caribbean Cruise. That is something alot of people did not know about. I think Edge was so mad he didn't let him call the game. Also look at some of the State Championship pics. The refs did a horrible job and there were some good pics of Russell players holding nothing but Jersey. Not one pic but about 5 pics

  6. How many of the states top pitchers also has 19 homers this season. This kid is for real. He may only throw high 80's consistent, but with that pop and his pitching stats, he has to be a leading candidate for the 07 Mr. Baseball award.

Justin Marks from O Catholic threw a 1 hitter and struck out 15 against Danville on Sunday. He was also named by Baseball America as the #1 rated player in the state of Kentucky, and has been nominated for Gatorade Player of the Year from Kentucky. If there is a better pitcher in the state I will have to see him.

  7. You are correct West Sider and the the last two years Owensboro Catholic has been beaten in the State Tournament by the eventual State Champions. This team is down for now, but definitely not out. I think you will see them in June in the at large State Tournament. But for now it is Beechwoods time to shine and they played a really good tournament with solid pitching and tough outs at the plate. Beechwood will not be a push over for anyone.

  8. Try a movie calles Mickey. It is about a 13 year old boy and his dad who go back and play little league and end up in a scandle at the Little League World Series. This movie was actually filmed before the Danny Almonte' scandal and was put on hold for several years until the timing for it was right. You should be able to find it on video.

  9. Here are several, in my opinion and in no particular order:

    Jason Chowning – Eastern

    Clint Tilford – Heath

    Tyler Gatrell – Boud County

    Chris Hord - Lafayette

    Boutilette – E’Town

    Chase Huffman – Pikeville

    Tyler Gilliland - Christian County

    Harrell – Male

    Keith Butler - Butler County

I can't remember all the first names and apologize for any mis-spellings.

You can add Justin Marks from Owensboro Catholic to this list. UL signee.
