  1. How well will Russell defend the 2-pt conversion? Throughout the first three games, Ashland has successfully scored on the 2pt play 8 times compared to kicking only 2 PAT’s. If this game comes down to kicking, be it PAT’s or FG’s, the Tomcats will be in curious territory.
  2. For the first three games of the season, Raceland’s D allowed 210 yards rushing per game. Offensively, the Rams per game average is 109 yards rushing and 131 yards through the air…not eye popping stats, but enough to let GC know they are still on the bottom, looking up. This is Raceland's game to lose.
  3. This game has really evolved into a nice rivalry over the years. In the recent past, there have been several times the “favored” teams lost. I suppose that’s one of the elements which make for a good rivalry. Being the self proclaimed team-of-the-decade, Russell will make a game of it…..in the first half. To win this game, the Tomcats will need to maintain game tempo and treat the Devils to a dose of their own medicine….long, sustained SCORING drives. I don’t think we will see Russell quit playing as they did last year, but I do look for Ashland to pull away in the second half.
  4. Give these Rams a chance to turn things around. I think the Raceland faithful will be pleased with what they witness during their home opener. It has not been an easy task opening up the season with 3 consecutive road games. IMO, this Raceland team is still searching for its identity (insert the Kevin McHale is not walking through that door, Larry Bird is not walking through that door speech)…and I firmly believe that anyone who puts on the pads and gets smacked around enough eventually finds the DETERMINATION to fight back… This week, the Rams realize enough is enough and will put a double digit thumping on inter county rival Greenup.
  5. Ashland 267 yards rushing (37) to Belfry's 297 (48) on the ground. Varney had 221 of those. For Ashland Rodgers rushed for 112 yards in 8 plays and Alber gained 109 on 19 carries.
