2008 Stanley Cup Play-offs thread

The Sharks are absolutely giving their all. IMO, there will be a quick goal here in 4OT, within 5 minutes. But, I could be wrong and we might play 3 more overtimes... amazing game either way. -

Ok is it just me or are the people on the camera side of the arena standing? Because if so they have been standing the entire time. -

Shifts are getting really short. Someone is going to make a tired mistake sooner or later. -

This has to be the best game of the play-offs so far. -

I have a final at 8am, but I don't plan to turn this game off. Both netminders have had some absolutely amazing stops. -

It's a shame that there is no way the Pens will be able to afford to keep that team together next season. -

Although Detroit appears to firing on all cylinders, I have trouble saying they are the best team remaining in the west. I feel as though Dallas is clicking just as well, and against a better team that Detroit has. Detroit played a less than stellar Nashville team in the first round, and a physically drained Avalanche group in the second. However, the stars played a veteran team in the Ducks, and are pretty much in control against what was a red-hot San Jose team at the end of the season. I really believe that Dallas is going to advance to the Stanley Cup finals. As far as the East, I don't think anyone is going to stop the Pens. The Rangers are NOT going to win 3 more games straight, just don't see that happening. Philly will eliminate Montreal soon, as I don't think the Habs have the goaltending to gain enough ground on the Flyers. As far as the conf. finals between what I see as Philly/Pitt, its going to be a hard fought series. I think the scoring power of Malkin/Crosby will be too much for Philly. So I think we will see a Stars vs. Penguins for the cup. I will offer more input on that if it happens. -

The Avs just didnt have it in the second round... One has to wonder if Joe Sakic has played his last game in the NHL... -

Two possible elimination games tonight NYR vs PIT and DET vs COL Colorado will be without Forsberg, Smyth, Stastny, and Wolski. -

You're right. I hate to make excuses for the poor performance of the Avs, but I would love to see how well Detroit would do without their #1, 4, 6, and 7 points leaders. The only positive that I have seen out of this series is that T.J. Hensick looked amazing out there last night. This kid put every ounce of energy he had into the game. -

Avalanche's problems continue: Forsberg playing tonight (left in first period, then has returned in the second) Ryan Smyth sits out game 3 Paul Stastny has left the game. -

Yes they do. In 1999 the Avs came back from 0-2 against the Wings by winning 4 straight. I think they can pull it out IF Forsberg plays tonight, and Theodore is feeling/playing well. Also having Scott Hannan back on the blue-line will help as well. -

As for game 3: Jose Theodore will be ready to go.... however Peter Budaj may be given the start. Peter Forsberg is day to day Scott Hannan will likely play Wojtek Wolski will miss the rest of the series. -

Its tough to watch Detroit take it to Colorado like they did on Saturday afternoon. It just frustrates me that we have not had a healthy line-up yet this season when playing the Red Wings. During the regular season Col went 0-4 against Det. In those games we were without Joe Sakic, Ryan Smyth, and Paul Stastny. Then when it's all looking up for this series; Jose Theodore (who was our MVP against MIN) comes down with the flu, Peter Forsberg sits out with a sore groin, Scott Hannan sits out game 2, and Wojtek Wolski only plays 5 shifts in game 1 before being injured. Just bad luck I suppose. I dont want to make excuses for the Avalanche, but when you have a top goalie, forward, and defenseman out, life gets tough. a great game going on right now between the sharks and stars. -
$4 would definitely phase me. I have had to cut back driving as much as possible. I can not even afford to make it home to see my family who came in from New Jersey as is. I walk everywhere possible here in Murray. Me and a few friends take turns driving if a group of us want to go anywhere in an effort to save as much money as possible. I doubt that I will go home much at all next semester, I am only about 60 miles from home, I just can't afford to buy gas anymore.

Avalanche vs. Red Wings VI just minutes away!:ylsuper::dancingpa -
I can hardly afford to go home any more than I absolutely have to. Next semester I may not go home at all. Granted I only go to school about 60 miles from home, but I just can't afford $40 a tank. And to think that some people are probably spending around $100 for a tank of gas.

Second round matchups: Eastern (1)Montreal vs (6)Philadelphia (2)Pittsburgh vs (5)New York Ranger Western (1)Detroit vs (6)Colorado (2)San Jose vs (5)Dallas Although DET swept COL this season, I feel good about how the Avs are playing right now. Also we without Joe Sakic, Ryan Smyth, and Paul Stastny for the games against the Wings, so I feel like they never saw us to our full potential during the regular season. -
