  1. I did this research and posted in another thread. I have copied it over to here.

Did some research from the KHSAA website. These are fairly accurate but some schools I did not count either way because I was not 100% sure of their classifications. Apollo, Iroquois, Fort Campbell, I thought were public schools.

    A 46 publics, 1 state finalists, 2%. 5 privates 1 state finalists, 20%

    AA 48 publics, 1 state finalists, 2%. 3 privates 1 state finalists, 33%

    AAA 51 publics, 1 state finalists, 1.9%. 2 privates 1 state finalists, 50%

    AAAA 51 publics, 0 state finalists, 0% 2 privates 2 state finalists, 100%

Approximately 200 public schools compete in football and they fielded 3 state finalists for 1.5%.

By my count, there are 12 private schools that fielded football teams and they have 5 finalists for 41.7%.

(My count had A Holy Cross(Cov), Kentucky Country Day, Holy Cross(L), Newport Catholic and Lex Christian; AA Owensboro Catholic, CAL, DeSales; AAA Cov Cath and Lex Cath; AAAA St. X and Trinity. Please point out any schools I missed and I will correct my figures.)

  2. Starting in the fourth grade in Mayfield the kids learn the same base plays and being a smaller school helps some too in my opinion...8 years later you have the same core group running the same plays on Varsity. They have been coached by former Mayfield players who want them to excel! Mayfield always also plays a tough non-district schedule to ready them for the playoffs. Plus the pride of playing for Mayfield is still somewhat loathed after!

    Didn't you mean sought after ? ;)

  3. A lot depends on who else is playing besides a fan's favorite team.

For example, if Newport was in the 2A game and NCC in the 1A fans of both teams would have attended both games.

Whoever says the weather for the 1A game was okay is nuts are an NCC fan buoyed by a 28-0 halftime edge. I'm guessing impartial or Mayfield fans will tell you it was awful.

Of course you are right on both counts!!! :ylsuper:

  4. Someone in another thread said he was all state is that correct or was that just part of the pre-game hype that you hear from every teams supporters? Even though I dont thinka change in his play that would have altered the outcome of the game he certainly let his team down with his attitude.

  5. NCC did dominate Mayfield but Mayfield played almost 3 quarters of the game on offense with only 10 players on the field. One of Mayfields players seemed to give up after the score became 14-0 . He walked through the plays walked back to the huddle etc . Just his body language showed that he did not want to be on the field. It seemed that the Cardinal had to wait for him to return to the huddle a lot. This situation was commented on by a number of NCC fans during the game. Surely Mayfield's coach had a player standing on the sideline that wanted a chance to play in this game more than that young man did ? Did anyone one the Mayfield side observe this also?

  6. O.K. so who is right? APNW or bigstud.

Big Zig The Diocese of Covington is now starting new RCIA classes to welcome new converts into the Catholic Church . Why don't you contact the Parish nearest you and look into this. I know the Catholic Church would welcome you with open arms . We need people who are so passionate and have so much faith in their beliefs .Then you could send your child / children to the Catholic grade and High School of your choice and enjoy the advantages of a Catholic Faith based education . PS: I hear the sports programs are pretty good too .

  7. Allplay you know its not about how many kids play its about where those kids should be playing and where they really are playing. Private schools woo kids to play who can play soo they can win (Joe public aint there for his gpa). That raises school spirit (school exposure), school enrollment(money coming into the school), school involvement by current students and alumni (contributions)which in turn makes recruiting easier if not almost on cruise control.

The kids at NCC go there because thats where their parents chose to send them . Where else do you think they belong.

  8. Yes this just goes to show how strong the junior football programs in Campbell County are with quality teams at Bellevue, Highlands, Newport and The 1a STATE CHAMPIONS NEWPORT CENTRAL CATHOLIC THOROUGHBREDS . All these schools are within a radius of 5 miles of each other. :dancingpa
THOROUGHBREDS I knew I could spell it right
