  1. Thank goodness that we understand our opponents a little better than this . . . . . . . . .

No one needs to remind Beechwood that they are 0-2 against Mayfield.

The 2002 Mayfield team may have been one of the best that I have ever seen or prepared for.

I was just going by the way the Mayfield team played in the 1A Championship Game last December . What ever you say you can't deny their level of play then . If the core of that team remains lets hope then that they have recovered and that the coaches can reinstill the Mayfield winning tradition and have a great season this year .

  2. If the class breakdown we have now is accurate Beechwood and Mayfield would be heavy favorites every year to play in the 1A title game. For Beechwood, add to that if they stay in 1A their district games would be:

    Bracken County

    Bishop Brossart

    Ludlow

    Walton-Verona

    Dayton

    Bellevue

I don't know any other way to put it, that is an ugly district schedule from Beechwood's point of view. However, if you move up to 2A your district would include natural rival NCC, Newport, and Holy Cross. And, 2A would be very competitive for Beechwood making a title once every five years a realistic goal instead of winning half of all the titles.

    Anyone?

If it's going to be Beechwood and Mayfield in the 1A Championship game every year then Beechwood should look forward to a lot of Championships in the coming years

  3. Not nessecarily, over here in the eastern part of the state as everyone knows weve had quite a few schools consolidate. Although the classrooms and the facilities are far better than where these kids originally went to school, and lets face it thats the most important thing. The Sports teams have kind of suffered over here due to politics. Heres an example say school A and school B consolidated and made school C. Schools A and B were bitter rivals in all sports before they consolidated. School C know has to hire a football coach, the old coach at school A looks like a right fit but the coach at school B is threatning to call in some favors and get some board members fired if they dont hire him. Meanwhile The parents and students of both scools A and B are supposed to put behind them years of fighting, both on the field and off, and play together as a team and the parents who fought these battles are supposed to join hands with the ones they played against in those heated contests and band together to form a booster club. Right about here is when human nature kicks into overdrive. The kids are talented and the teams are good at school C but the parents and board members from both schools A&B are fighting amogst themselves over which old school will have control over the new one. If there is more kids from School A playing than from school B or vice verca then the other side is complaining about favoritism and will not support the team. While all this is going on the kids see all this fighting and just say "Heck with it". Ive never seen this fail to happen when a school consolidates and the sports suffer because of it.
Your scenario sounds like the Hatfields and McCoys .:argue:
  4. Papas plays for my daughter's JO team and she is a fine player . I watched the team play in the NKJV tournament this past weekend . My daughter is also an assistant at NCC during the season . Goodness a private school coach helping a public school player improve and from a rival school at that . What is the world coming to !!

  5. I have discussed this question with AD's of the region I am in. Consistently, their response is, they fill the BBA is the BEST officials in our area. To exchange with another region would LOWER the quality of officials that would be calling the regional games.

They do not want to LOWER the QUALITY just for the sake of having officials from a different area.

What a bunch of Baloney !!!
  6. Well it sure looked like the roller coaster so I guess I should apologize for assuming... no, and I have NEVER heard anyone else chant WE ARE AWESOME besides CCH, maybe you have, but I sure haven't... and apparently none of the Dixie students have either, hence the "You're not Cov Cath" chant right back at them..
I graduated from NC in 65 and " We are awesome " was one of our cheers then . So it is nothing new or original .
  7. I hope Covcath takes it all because

    1) They beat the school I was rooting for .

    2) They are from Nky and this region is due .

    3) They are the only Parochial school in the Tournament and the Parochial schools are at a disatvantage when it comes to basketball and the Sweet Sixteen and maybe this will go towards leveling the hardwood a bit .

  8. Way over your head JRS . I was being facetious about your confusion over the words wander and wonder . BTW just because a student's family lives outside the Louisville area but attends a high school there dosen't show anything but intelligent and caring parents who want their child to have the best education that they deem possible .

  9. Is it Trinity or St.X that has kids from 13 different countys?Just wandering since these schools dont recruit. I got some serious facts about one of these schools that would open up a huge can of worms, but you cant mention names on here.
I wonder why you are wandering ? Does That fact that they don't recruit cause you so much distress that you become lost and distracted ? You ought to see a professional about this problem .
  10. Not sure if I buy this newsletter primarily because he is talking about the last season game and I know that a lot of teams don't put the best players in their last season's game. Tell me where the starters in the playoff games or the championship game were from cause I really don't know, :D, were they these same guys?[/quote What kind of question is that ? Did Mayfield hold out their best players from their last game of the season ?
