  1. I've seen superintendents that would not know some of their coaches, let alone a new student. If it's at the kid and coaches expense, it probably should be...other than them who should have been reprimanded?

I can understand the super but not the principal, AD. If the board verified them being at an eligible address and the KHSAA ok’d it along with the school etc, then why would the coaches have not let him play? Hate to see a senior not get to finish his senior year out.

  2. Do we know that this didn't just recently come to the Super's attention?

It sounds to me like someone recently turned them into the KHSAA. When the Principal/AD/Super or whomever looked into it they found the claims to be credible and the Super made the decision to cut ties to the coach(es).

I would hate to think a kid who was averaging 19-15 and was a new student to the school.. no one knew much about him and that he just flew under the radar to the school.

I think it sounds like everyone involved thought they were good, but then when the KHSAA got involved they did their best to save face at the expense of the kid and the coaches.

  3. Per his Facebook. Congrats to Coach Martin. Great guy. Glad to see him back him on the sidelines.

“AWell friends and relatives..after 4 years away from football I feel strong again, hungry to compete..to pack that lunch pale and hard hat to work again..This time away has helped me heal my mind, my heart, and my soul. Dealing with my father's death from suicide was difficult-closing his estate a huge 2 year job, I felt like closure and healing was never going to happen. Today I feel strong, and I am excited to announce that I was chosen and accepted the head football position at Moore High School. I am so excited to get back to coaching football again and doing what God chose for me to do. You all know me...I wanted you all to hear this from me and not the newspaper. I am thankful for the Moore High school administration for providing this opportunity.”

  4. More of a flop if anything. Villers was in the air releasing his shot and the defender moved to the left and under him when he came down. Could have actually been a blocking foul more than a charge. But in those kind of situations with 2 seconds left few referees are going to call anything.

Thought the same. If anything the defender didn't give the shooter room to come down. Shots 3/4ths of the court long usually don't carry the same form as a normal 3

  5. I’m not from their region but that school has always puzzled me when it comes to boys basketball. They have one of the larger enrollments in the 13th region but are rarely in contention.

They're still stuck in politics when it comes to basketball. They finally went out of system and brought in a very solid football coach who already is turning that program around. They went out of the system and brought in a solid baseball coach who has that program on the upswing quick. They need to do the same with their basketball program. Their school and enrollment are way too large to be losing to teams like Jackson City.

  6. Southwestern is really struggling right now. One of their best players IMO plays 4-5 minutes a game. They could really give teams fits with their size if they'd play the guys at the same time. They can run a look with Jones at the 3, Sims at the 4, and Wood at the 5. But seems like only one is in at a time. Hope they get it figured out.

  7. Did Corbin have 4 players at the UK Junior day? Maybe overall Boyle has a better roster than Corbin but Boyle's top two players are a Kicker and DE. I am sure the Corbin fans can fill me on the 4 players but they all looked like skill guys. Future success in the next 3-4 years doesn't seem like much difference talent wise between Boyle and Corbin. As stated above maybe there were different reason for leaving Corbin than just on the field/roster.

Two of the kids were kids that had been offered by UK. The other two were with friends. One having not played football in a year and the other the QB. One is the Longmire kid who has multiple offers and I believe will be a junior. The other the Patterson kid who will be a sophomore and has a couple offers.

  8. As an educator, today I'm taking a step back from the normal curriculum and pacing guide to focus on yesterday's heartbreaking events. Students are going to watch Dear Basketball, and they're going to break that short film down and then write letters to someone/something that means the most in their life to them.

I've been blessed getting to grow up and watch Kobe play his entire career. Even though he's a celebrity, the fire he played with and now the family man he is resonated inside of me. This whole situation is heartbreaking.

  9. Jeff Hester is still there. His youngest son will be a senior next year. He can retire from teaching either at the end of this year or next, now whether or not he will keep coaching after that I'm not for sure. The defense will still be in great hands.

Looking at scores it seems as if that was Corbin's weakness last year. Especially against Wayne in the playoffs. 49-63 is a rough way to lose. I assumed Chuck called the defense last season.

  10. I wasn't a believer his freshman year and then he lit UK up. I wasn't a believer of him being able to translate to the NBA and then he lit it up last night. Guy can play. Started off slow, but they were playing him in 4-5 minute spurts and guy's not seen game action in months. If he can make people guard him on the three point line he's going to be a hell of a player. So explosive.

  11. I think he's probably the most likely candidate at this point.

It would seem like a job like this would attract some fairly high-profile applicants though, yes?

Oh absolutely. Seems like they have the majority of the talent in the city right now. Crowdus coming back as well makes the job a gold mine for whoever gets it.
