Per normal...the AP Poll is ridiculous.

    Class 2A

    Rank-School (FPV)           Rcd  TP   Pvs

    1. Somerset (14)                 5-0  140   1

    2. Mayfield                           4-1  113   4

    3. Breathitt County               3-0  104   3

    4. Lexington Christian          4-1   99    2

    5. Beechwood                      3-2   88    5

    6. West Carter                      5-0   67    8

    7. Owensboro Catholic         4-1   57    6

    8. Danville                             3-1   36    7

    9. Hancock County                4-1   28   10

    10. Caldwell County               2-2   24   9

AP Poll is absolute garbage. Breathitt at 3 makes no sense!

I can't answer for VoR, but I agree with him. A top 5 team should manhandle Martin County this year. They lost to Magoffin County (an average team) by 48.

Calpreps projects West Carter to win 52-3. Anytime Calpreps projects a margin that wide, that's a strong indicator of the discrepancy in quality between the two teams.

You make a good point. I’ll admit I don’t know much about Martin County this year. I won’t even get to make the game Friday. From the comments I’ve seen on this post though, I now feel like the comets should definitely win by more than my original prediction which is fine by me!

And two more easy weeks ahead. However, they finish with Raceland, Lexington Christian, and Breathitt County so we should have a better idea of where Paintsville stands once the playoffs begin.

If Paintsville can win all three of those games they should be the undisputed #1 ranked team in the class going into the playoffs. However, I don’t see them winning all three.
