Just heard as of now Ashland’s regular season is over.
Covid? Or no games available?

Should be an exciting week in 2A!

If the streak is ever going to end, it will happen Friday.

Would love to see Ashland pick up Pikeville/Paintsville this week.

Additionally, I think you can make a strong case for all four of the top AA (LCA, Mayfield, Beechwood, Somerset) teams at this point. It's tighter than I think most people thought between those four teams, especially after seeing Somerset lose to LCA last week, Mayfield barely edge Murray in OT last night, and LCA narrowly beating Danville tonight.
West Carter, Hancock Co, Owensboro Catholic, and Breathitt County, I think, for different reasons are still question marks. We'll know more about them in coming weeks.
I agree 100%. I still think LCA is the clear top dog. From the game thread on here, looked like LCA was down a few starters at Danville and I think that’s why that game was so close. Mayfield/Murray/Caldwell County have all been tremendous football games. The second tier teams in 2A will get their chance to prove how good they are in the remaining two games of this wild regular season.

I’m all for the Tigers, I mean truly. But let’s not jump the gun just yet. LCA and Somerset are two teams that are outstanding, and personally I think both are better than the tigers right now from what I’ve seen on film. Luckily though for the tigers they will have to play one another in the playoffs early. But as of right now Beechwood is the 3rd best team, in my eyes from what I’ve seen.
Maybe so. I’m just saying that at this moment in time I would pick them to beat Somerset. Both the Briar Jumpers and Tigers have big games this week so maybe that will give us a better indicator of who is the 2nd best team in 2A.

Tigers are the 2nd best team in 2A right now! I fully expect them to be playing at Kroger!

LCA played without three starters including their stud RB/WR Xavier Brown and their starting QB.
Valiant effort by Danville regardless.
I was wondering why this game was so close. Danville we be an absolute force next season.

Agree. A player like Cline can take a team from solid to really good. This win will be a nice boost to RPI but I don't think it helps them in the rankings.
RPI is updated hourly so I believe this is the current RPI which will come into play for home field advantage in round 3:
4. Beechwood ......... 68576
5. West Carter ......... 68275
As of right now, Beechwood would host Walton Verona and West Carter would host Breathitt county for the 3rd round of the playoffs, correct?

Score was closer than I thought it might be. Looks like a good effort from the Rebels.
Boone County played very hard. Like I said, 2 comet TD’s were called back.

Details? Did Cline get going?
90 minute delay for rain and lightning. Cold, wet, and windy night. Boone county came out and went up 7-0 with a rushing TD. Then came up with a pick 6 off of a tipped ball to make it 13-0. From then on, Cline took over. 3 rushing TD’s and a scoop and score. Boone was a physical team with solid athleticism and a good running back. Comets had 2 touchdowns called back in the second half. Kick return and a long rushing TD from Cline with 2 minutes left in the game.

Well done by West Carter. I consider them the favorite in this game and if they get the win it will be big RPI points for them.
Really happy with how West Carter has handled rescheduling opponents the last two weeks. Two excellent games! I doubt it’ll be the last time they have to do it too.

West pretty heavy favorite here. I think it's a good move to get the kids more experience playing in NKY and a good RPI boost as well.
Boone gets a home game now instead of hitting the road to Louisville.
I hope a West Carter win can make up for their loss last week in the RPI. Gotta beat Boone County first though!

Hancock County should be above Breathitt County but everything else looked good.

There are 2 or 3 teams that have a legitimate argument for the #5 slot - Danville, Hancock County and Breathitt County.
I would agree on Hancock County having an argument. Breathitt hasn’t played anyone good and they won’t until they travel to Paintsville so that’s the only issue I’d have with placing Breathitt above WC. Danville got smoked by Somerset (only 2-3 teams in 2A wouldn’t) so hard for me to tell much about them.

I'd put west somewhere in the 6-10 range in 2a
Behind who?

I'm sure it's of little consolation right now, but the Comets competed with Paintsville on every possession. That's a good ball club that should roll to another district title and have a crack at one of 2A's heavyweights in the 3rd round.
I felt west Carter played really good for 3 quarters. I guarantee this game on a neutral field, or at olive hill gives a different result. West Carter should not fall in rankings for going to a top 2 team in 1A and playing them that tough. Officiating like that is hard to overcome.

Officials won this one for Paintsville! Score doesn’t indicate how close this game really was.
-
Beechwood continues to roll! Wont lose another game until December!

I agree. The gap in the trenches isn’t near as big as normal. WC will still have their hands full up front but I think they matchup up better this year than they have any of the past few.
