Austin Sparrow may have youth on his side compared to some coaches but that is a veteran move in the coaching profession there. Withdraw your name so you can say I withdrew instead of not getting fired, that's a savvy play up there with resigning from the position before getting fired.

Excuse me, that should have stated withdrew instead of not getting hired, and that's a savvy play up there with resigning from the position before getting fired.

Austin Sparrow apparently withdrew his name because they weren’t as interested as other names. Mercer Co will do nothing to help their program by hiring anyone else. They had an opportunity to change the culture of their program and evolve some solid young pieces but here we go again.

    Senior in KY.

The word around Lexington is, he will be a senior graduating in class of 2024 but will not enroll until January of 2025 because of something personal for years this has been the plan. I believe the timeline is he will not enroll for 2024 and red-shirt because of having to sit personal reason but will enroll in 2025 like an early enrollee for graduating class of 2025 and have an extra year if needs to red-shirt etc. I believe this used to be referred to as a greyshirt.

If it's the name I'm hearing, it is a current HS coach who has coached at the small college level the last few years in KY.  Moderate results, but a veteran coach...I do not think it's the splash hire they thought they would get though.

sounds like Keith Adkins if he is a current high school coach.

  5. Did the Coach who has been there seven years resign on his own or was he let go from his coaching position?  Looking on the school website, they have available coaching positions posted for High School Football Head Coach, Middle School Football Head Coach, Volleyball High School Head Coach and Baseball High School Head Coach.

Interesting that baseball would be posted as open when their in the middle of their current season even though they are winless to date.

I hope that the football coach just resigned on his own considering the season has been over for over six months now when he could have been pursuing other coaching opportunities in that time frame had he known he would be let go.

  6. Fairdale is now open and taking applications through tomorrow. Very appealing job as they have proven they can win a state title winning three of four in the early 90's along with being an annual participant in the King of the Bluegrass event. They return all but two players from a 22 win team including their top six scorers for the 2023-2024 campaign.

No way you think Owen had them beat🤣Duvall is the one of the worst coaches in the 8th. And you can go ahead and say well, look at the last couple years… They had Teegan Moore. That’s literally the answer to everything Owen has been thrown the past 3 years. I am going to sincerely enjoy watching Owen get blown out next year and finally see Duvall get exposed of how bad of a coach he really is.

For a small school like Owen County, they have had quite a bit of talented high school players come through there the last 10-12 years, at least two division one players.

Larue County and Elizabethtown face off tonight for the 5th Region Championship. Larue enters tonight's game with a record of 23-7. Etown has a record of 22-9. They played one time this season, with Larue County winning 55-46 on February 7th.

Since 1998, Etown has dominated the series. The regular season games have favored Etown 18-6. In regional tournament games, Etown has not lost to Larue since 1998. (Don't have access to records past that) Etown is 6-0 against Larue in regional tournaments. (98, 00, 02, 14, 20, 22.)

Larue County hasn't appeared in a regional final from 1998 until now. In that same time span, Etown has a 4-8 record in regional finals. They defeated Marion County in 2000, went on to win the state championship. Defeated John Hardin in 2005, lost in 2nd round of state tournament. Defeated Bardstown in 2020, state was not played that year due to COVID-19, and then Etown defeated John Hardin in 2021 and lost in the state championship game.

Daniel Allen has had a big regional tournament so far for Larue County. He's had 29 points and 30 points respectively in the first 2 games. Ayden Evans had 14 and 24 points in his first 2 games of the region.

Who you got? Should be a fun one!

LaRue County lost in the 2018 regional finals to John Hardin by a score of 48-46.

  9. Haven't heard a lot of names on this job, have only heard two and that interviews took place within the last 7-10 days. One name I have heard has had pretty good success at three different stops around the central part of the state (one lengthy stop more northern) but didn't coach this past season as a head coach.

Don't want to mention names in case they don't want it out there.
