Louisville Sports on twitter reports that CAL is now open, Bryce Hibbard resigns. Could Hibbard be going to Manual?
-
Jimmy Just has stepped down as head coach of the Crimson after 13 seasons as head coach. Manual went 14-14 this season losing to Ballard in the first round of the 7th region. They do return majority of their team.
-
Joe Hood has resigned today.
-
For the 5th Region you have 2 alums from John Hardin; yet you don't have Mickey Pearson the school's all time leader in about 6 categories to include scoring and rebounding.
Thought they were better players and took less talented teams to state multiple times.
Pearson as a sophomore and junior didn’t have Matthews, when Matthews became a big part of the Bulldogs Pearson senior year they went to state. Matthews also was player of year Gatorade in the state.
-
As I said, they didnt have any chance to win four games at state.
-
Madisonville didn’t have any shot to win it all this year. Very over rated, lucky to beat a below .500 team in region semifinals.
Warren Central would have beat them just like they did last season.
Madisonville has zero chance to win four games at Rupp, zero

They are apparently forming a committee to interview players and parents to gather feedback. Don't seem to be in a hurry.
They are also offering no comment on what led to him being let go.
Players and parents involved in the hire? What a disaster Anderson County football is about to become.

Rod Rowe is the new coach at Shelby Valley replacing Jim Bob Hicks. Rowe most recent coaching experience was the head man of the Shelby Valley Lady Kats.
-
I follow the 2nd through 5th pretty religiously.
2nd
Anthony Hickey
KyKy Tandy
Kenny White
Eli Pepper
JaQualis Matlock
3rd
Aric Holman
Justin Miller
James Baker
Stewart Currie
Zach Hopewell
Eli Wright would replace Hopewell if counting him since he didn’t finish in the state.
4th
Terry Taylor
Tavin Logan
Chance Behanen
George Fant
Jordan Shanklin
5th
Quentin Goodin
Mason Faulkner
Brandon Price
Eljay Cowherd
Alex Matthews
Out of those four teams I would rank them
1.) fourth region
2.) third region
3.) fifth region
4.) second region

James “Boo” Brewer, he was a candidate last time the job opened not sure he will be interested this time around or not.
The last time his daughter was in the process of transferring from West Va to WKU, she has now graduated from WKU this year so the interest may not be there as once was.
This position will draw a ton of interest. I am not sure why the parting of ways with DG Sherrill before but if those terms were good and he wanted the job again that would be an easy choice.
Three names immediately come to mind for this position if Sherrill doesn’t already have an agreement for the job.
1) Tim Riley, he should be the first phone call.
2.) Jon Newton, what he has done at Webster County is second to none. He is one of the top coaches in the state of Kentucky.
3.) Matt Beshear, he has won back to back regionals in the 2nd and the Beshear name seems to be hot presently.
Another name to consider is Ryan Perry. He led Lyon County to the region semifinals this year and would bring the top freshman in the state wirh him.
-
Hard to say any decision is wrong as each person has their own path in their particular craft.
However, we can’t really be shocked by this commitment and choosing WKU over Power 5 schools. Harmon has a track record of choosing smaller schools as in Adair County and Marshall County when he could be at ______ you fill
In the blank of any prep school / top high school in America.

Washington County athlete JaTavion Churchill has committed to Louisville per his twitter page.
-
Jim Bob Hicks has resigned from his position as the head man of the Wildcats.
-
Article in the Messenger Inquirer states that Steve Barker has resigned.
Barker resigns as Apollo coach | Sports | messenger-inquirer.com
-
Pike County Central coach Ryan Whitaker has resigned after four years at the helm.
-
So the last 5 years were:
5-6
4-7
8-4
10-1
4-7
Total of 31-25 with a 1-5 record in the playoffs.
Sounds like a change might have been in order.
Yeah, Anderson County was so great before him and their district annually they should be 3-4 with Lexington Catholic, Boyle County and Bourbon County. Good luck to the next coach in that district.
-
The reality is, every coach has a shelf life. If you have a great record, you stay longer. Which he did. But at some point, you won’t be on the same page. Probably what happened here.
This is true as well, saying among coaches is, you are hired to be fired.
-
Almost all coaches are teachers as well. Principals are under a lot of pressure to have high quality teachers in the classroom as well. Sometimes taking away a coach's supplemental duty either gives them more free time to straighten up as a teacher or gives the principal an opportunity to replace them with a better teacher come hiring season.
I don't know much about the situation, but coaches are under year to year contracts so there may have been loose ends the admin wanted tied up before they made a change.
Yes but you can't get rid of them as a teacher when they have tenure, he was there fifteen seasons so he has tenure. You have to really mess up to lose your teaching job once you are tenured.

I agree. I just think that a large percentage of transfers involve an intentional attempt to lie/cheat so if you get caught you serve your punishment and I am good with that.
I am also good with folks minding their own business and not actively trying to ruin a kid’s time playing an extra curricular activity while in high school.
Agree but also the ones who act illegally and move / bring the kid in are actively tryinig to ruin the kids time that are playing an extra curricular activity for the other 3-4 teams in the district and 15-17 teams in their region. It is one thing to have a kid move legally, but don't do it illegally and there are plenty of ways to do it legally when it is actually illegal to do.
-
If you’re going to let go of him then why didn’t they do it sooner? Meaning, why wait until the end of February.
Agreed, it is Bush League to the umpteenth degree. Should be mandatory that if you are not renewing the football coach for their coaching duties you let them know by Christmas Break. Not letting them know so they can get another job is just a disgrace.
-
KHSAA tries to police their rules but everytime they do they get a law suit, same with the ncaa. Everytime they want to rule a kid ineligible they get a law suit.
My thoughts are if you don’t want to play by KHSAA rules then don’t play, it isn’t mandatory they can put any rules they want and lawsuit Shouldn’t be an option.

He had 750 points this season, if he does that each of his final 4 years, he will have it. That is a lot of points every year though.
Would think if he does it a an 8th grader he will be able to do it as a high schooler. No guarantees.
