  1. My honest opinion with no bias with either team. 1.) I can not get the 39-38 come from behind win over Lexington Catholic out of my head. 2.) Bowling Green's only loss to a Kentucky team is Trinity and St. X. I personally feel they are better than everyone thinks.

Covcath is a much different team now than back in early September, however it is possible that they play down to that level again. However, if we’re to pick one game as a measuring stick, one could also look to the 27-7 win over LaSalle, who is arguably better than Trinity or St. X. this year, and say Covcath should win this game easily. I personally thinks really is somewhat in the middle. Covcath wins but not in running clock fashion, likely by 2-3 scores.

  2. What happened on the Madison Southern fumble the Colonels returned for a touchdown in the 1st quarter? Instead of the touchdown, the refs gave CovCath the ball inside the 10 yard line. Inadvertent whistle?

I was standing in the end zone near the play and didn’t hear any whistle. Just a really bad call in my opinion. The QB was clearly standing nearly straight up when the ball was knocked out, however they ruled him down before the fumble. Not sure how they missed it, glad it didn’t end up impacting the outcome of the game.

  3. CovCath has been overrated all season. South Warren is good, but not unbeatable. FD still hasn’t beaten anybody that matters. Saying South has no chance is hyperbole, IMO.

To say CCH has been overrated all season is the definition of hyperbole. They’ve not lost a regular season game in the last 3 years, including this season, with a dominant win over the GCL South champ. It’s the best win of any team in KY this year across all classes.

  4. Assuming CovCath, Frederick Douglass, Owensboro and South Oldham make it through, wouldn’t the #1 vs #4 RPI seeds play and #2 vs #3 play?

    #1 CovCath hosts South Oldham

    #2 Frederick Douglass hosts Owensboro

Per KHSAA site it shows CCH would host FD in the 3rd round based on Districts 5-8 being grouped together.

  5. As I am sure the Highlands players and coaches will remember Cov Cath trying to play add on in the final seconds of a game that was already decided. I completely understand the Highlands players being excited about stuffing CCH four times from the 2 yard line, perhaps even more so in that situation.

I’ve got no issue with HHS players being excited for the stop at the end of the game. It was a good stop. The issue I noticed was with the multiple taunting penalties on Highlands throughout the game. It seemed like nearly every time HHS made a tackle the player stood over the CCH player and “flexed” or had something to say. Odd behavior for a team losing the entire game. I commend CCH for not taking the bait and remaining focused on winning.

  6. Looks like the Colonels would be the team to beat in the GCL. Didn’t NCC play in the GCL back in the day?[/

Can’t go off one game. I still think 7 or 8 out of 10 times, that LaSalle is better than Cov Cath. Just like there is no way Lexington Catholic is on even terms with Cov Cath. Matchups can dictate a lot as can off nights. Talent wise Lasalle has a ton more than Cov Cath.

And yes NCC played for a while but I think they played against the smaller GCL schools.

After watching CCH and LaSalle first hand, it’s CCH who would likely win 7 or 8 out of 10. LaSalle is primarily a running team, which was shut down thoroughly by CCH, which I believe would be consistently the case if they played again, as that is the strength of CCH. No reason to think otherwise. Now Elder would likely be a much tougher matchup as they are much more efficient throwing the ball.

  7. Not to be a devils advocate but doesn’t La Salle have like 5 D1 guys on their defense and most of them in the secondary?

Correct. LaSalle has 4 db’s with D1 offers, so that’s both corners and safety’s. Their D1 RB also played linebacker in the game. I’m sure HHS has a nice defense but doesn’t compare when it comes to high level talent. The safety for LaSalle, #7, was a stud. THe OSU d coordinator was at the game watching him.
