Final.

I was at both of those State Championships and the first of course was miserabe as Beechwood got rolled but the weather was awful too. Coldest State title game I have ever been to. The next year was nice to get the revenge and beat Danville.

Carroll starts the 2nd half with the ball.

Carroll County attempted a 42 yard FG at end of the half but missed it. Halftime after Beechwood takes knee. 35-0 at half.

35-0 Tigers 75 yard screen pass to James Cusick. He flys if he has an opening.

28-0 Beechwood on a 9 yard TD pass by Hayden. Didn’t catch who hauled it in.

End of 1st quarter

21-0 Beechwood Hayden to Lindor who made a great diving catch in the end zone. Flaherty ran a good majority of those yards of the drive.

14-0 Tigers Chase Flaherty 28 yard TD after a nice punt return by Erdman.

7-0 Tigers Hayden to Fryman 70+ yard TD pass.

1st and 2nd rounds are just like in years past where District 5 Seeds 1 and 3 seeds will match up against District 6 seeds 2 and 4 with the winners facing each other in the second round. District 6 seeds 1 and 3 will match up against District 5 seeds 2 and 4 with the winners of those games matching up in the second. Once those games are completed that’s when the RPI kicks in but the 3rd round is East RPI #1 vs East RPI #4 and East RPI #2 vs East RPI #3 then the winners of those matchups get mixed in with the West remaining 2 teams and the RPI once again is 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3 and winners meet in the championship. So in the scenario you had on your post it would be Beechwood vs Danville and Leslie County vs Bracken on one side with the winners facing each other and Somerset vs Owen County and Carroll County vs Breathitt County with those winners playing. Hope that helps.

Not a lot of chatter on this game! I firmly expect a running clock in this game but I’m curious how Carroll County’s offense will fair against Beechwood’s D. Carroll runs an uptempo style offense that can run and pass so if Beechwood continues to miss tackles like they were against the bigger schools on their schedule then I can Carroll scoring some and making it go into the 3rd quarter. I am a fan of both teams and hope that both teams get out of this injury free and are ready to make a long playoff runs. I think both schools can make it to the 3rd round of the playoffs and maybe further in Beechwood’s case. I will be there cheering for a good game.

I feel like this could be a really good game but in my heart of hearts Raceland and Pikeville are head and shoulders better than the rest of Class 1A this year. I hope Paris gives them all they can handle. Hopefully for Raceland's sake they don't overlook them, or this score could be closer than anyone thinks.

Beechwood travels to Carroll County to take on the Panthers with first place in 2A District 5 on the line. Both teams come into this matchup 3-0 in District play and looking to get that edge in the District standings. Beechwood and Carroll County met last year in the playoffs with Beechwood getting a 62-14 victory. Can Carroll keep this game close?

I went with LC in this one but think that Lloyd’s Defense can keep it respectable and as Lee Corso says “Closer than the experts think”. LC 21 Lloyd 14

No surprise here. I kept up with it on my phone from the WV-CC game. Beechwood travels to Carroll County next week with the winner being in the drivers seat for the District 1 seed.

There have been years previously that I thought that as well but for some reason Carroll just couldn’t get the job done. Walton really controlled the clock and limited the Panthers possessions tonight so it had me very worried that something would happen again but the Defense played a bend but don’t break D tonight and when they needed to stepped up and got some stops. It was a really hard fought game.

Final!!! Carroll County ends a 12 year, 14 game losing streak to the Walton-Verona Bearcats. Panthers lead 14-0 at half and early in the 4th quarter WV cut the deficit to 14-7. Panther QB Parker Mumphrey ran off the left side for a clinching 25 yard TD run with just under 2 mins left in the game. Carroll County will now host Beechwood next week with the 1st seed in the District on the line.

Wow lots of 2A teams off this week!!!! Pike County Central vs Shelby Valley should be an interesting game.
