  1. That should read Davis, Hammons and Jones for Frankfort.
  2. Frankfort is blessed with some serious athletes, a passionate coaching staff, great tradition and distinct home field advantage. It's a unique place to play, unforgettable really. And it's a tough read on how sharp KCD will be when they lace things up Friday night. They should be. That's the reasonable expectation. Because so much is on the line, plenty to motivate the Bearcats--a district title defense, home field seeding through the regional final of the playoffs, continuing the magic of the year so far. There's a lot to be excited about. But.......KCD comes off a bit of a head scratching, hold on for dear life win against Holy Cross and a complete blowout of an over matched Rock Creek of Indiana. It's been a while for this talented senior/laden team to come out pumped and focused-- not since the emotion laden slugfest with LCA back in mid September. What impact will the blowout have? The JV players were in for a good portion of the game. And no one who saw it would say that KCD played anywhere near top performance Friday night. So, it's time to return to needing the best your mind and body can provide, to return to concentration on assignments and precision on offense, and flying to the ball in droves on defense. Plus the defense will have some serious running and gunning thrown at them with the likes of Davis, Holt, Smith and Co. The Bearcats have four days to sharpen back up...four days to return to September form.
  3. I'll play the "little separating them" card in this instance. For a low scoring game, I was hanging on every post in the game thread throughout the evening. It just sounds like this was a classic. And if there is a rematch......whoa.
  4. Rock Creek played their hearts out and were classy, gracious hosts...this was a pickup game for KCD after Emminence pulled out of district play. Coach Jones of KCD pulled starters and started playing JV kids before the first half was over. Several Bearcat starters didn’t even dress to heal up minor injuries. Bottom line, an incredible mismatch that probably isnt the ideal way to tune up for a challenging Frankfort squad next Friday. On the positive side, the Bearcats should be at full strength for the district championship against the Panthers.
  5. Sound like this was everything you’d want from a high school football game...epic
  6. 95 yard TD for Ashton Robinson...KCD 43 to 6...5 minutes left in the half
  7. KCDs young kids score...Blake Caldwell with a nifty 25 yard run...KCD 36-6
  8. KCD already substituting in the young kids...Rock Creek scores on a nice pass play...29-6 KCD
  9. Ashton Robinson carries in from the 15 ...KCD 29-0....still in the 1st
  10. 14 yard pass to Grant Carstanjen, from Jackson Diaz...KCD 21 -0 with 7 left in the 1st
  11. Ashton Robinson scores from the Rock Creek 40....15-0 in the 1st
  12. Gianni Minor runs back the opening kickoff for KCD....8-0 1146 left in 1st quarter.
  13. Have gone through every post on this thread....might be bleary eyed, but it there any coverage tonight either streaming on the radio or on the computer? What a fun game to check in on across the state.
  14. Witnessed first hand what tailgating with alcohol can contribute to at a HS athletic event this fall....one word described the scene with fans close enough to touch players who landed out of bounds....ugly.
  15. Frankfort's a very tough place to play with the stadium sitting in the middle of a neighborhood with a lot of tradition and passion displayed by fans who are very close to the field of play. I think it'll be tough with injuries depleting the line play for Frankfort for the Panthers to contain Convenuto. HC's power running game can play a key part in the offensive attack, much more so than against KCD. Frankfort seems to have its share of talent at the skill positions, QB Holt Hammons is another year more comfortable as the starter and throwing for big numbers. Davis and RB Tremayne Smith look imposing....they've scored with ease against everyone on their schedule except Western Hills. To me this shapes up to be an offense versus offense, first team to 40 points, kind of affair. That's if HC can't slow down the Frankfort skill guys....it's important to say that only DeSales and KCD have scored big against the Cougars. Frankfort certainly has the athletes to score...the key is in the trenches.
  16. Just realized the thread was about the best Wide Receiver. Lifson's a TE, so probably shouldn't be in the discussion. He does plenty of wide-out work, but also plenty of time with his hand in the dirt.
  17. There's just too much to digest here.....amazing. Great work, VOR! The Hazard/Paintsville match looks plenty enticing. Hazard's adjustment after losing key players has been really impressive and Paintsville has been machine-like rolling through its KY schedule. I think a close game flatters both schools and it looks to dead tight from the Calpreps prediction. The Frankfort/Holy Cross game looks plenty intriguing as well. Frankfort has an accurate passer in Holt Hammons and a Mr Everything in DaJuan Davis who excels running and receiving. Frankfort lost several key interior linemen earlier this year. So this is a very good test for the Panthers against a good HC defense after a couple of games against weaker opponents. And let the game match the excitement level already generated in NKY for Ludlow/Beechwood. Hope it is one for the ages! If the winner of that game looks like the 1 seed in District 4, will they get a bye in the first round of the playoffs, given there won't be a 4 seed in District 3? Emminence isn't participating this year.
  18. Josh Lifson, Kentucky Country Day. 6 3 230, and a monster blocker as well...in fact he doesn't get a ton of throws his direction due to a balanced offense for KCD. One LCA coach was extremely flattering after the game in Louisville, calling Lifson the "best player we've faced up to this point." Stats are ever so important. And there are a number of fabulous receivers in this class. But there's a reason he's been offered at two FBS programs(Appalachian State and AFA) and is an Air Force commit-- a tight end body and a wide receiver's athleticism.
  19. I think that's reasonable to expect. It's a much anticipated game with a resilient Hazard team. KCD has an absolute walkover this Friday: there are no style points to be gained from a win against Rock Creek in Indiana. So it wouldn't surprise me, especially if Paintsville wins in a "statement" kind of way. The Tigers have done little wrong this year and look to be the team most likely to line up against Beechwood at Kroger Field. It should be noted that Calpreps, which has been really predictive this year, ranks KCD in the two slot behind Beechwood in 1A, and gives a nod to the Bearcats on strength of schedule. If Paintsville and KCD squared off today, Calpreps pojects a slugfest squeeker with KCD prevailing by 3...so basically an even match up. It probably ain't never gonna happen due to the monsters lurking in NYK (Beechwood especially, but Ludlow too). But what a fun game the Tigers and Bearcats might be!
  20. This game came about after Emminence pulled out of district play last spring/summer. It was a scramble to find a game for KCD...there were even thoughts of traveling to Cleveland, Ohio or Orlando, Florida for a game over fall break. Rock Creek materialized through a Shively sporting goods rep who knew both programs and were looking for a game. On paper, the game doesn’t look like a nail biter. Rock Creek is building a program and playing a number of smaller private schools and public schools in Southern Indiana. At first glance, this should be a chance for a number of the underclassmen to get some significant playing time.
