I agree with all of your predictions. Carlisle should win the 1st district comfortably. I think McCracken will win comfortably against PT especially with the game being played at Strawberry Hills but I would be surprised if they win by a similar margin to the last meeting between the two. I’d say something around 76-58 Mustangs. I think Ty Cavette will be the difference in the 3rd district and the Eagles will win by less than 10. Lastly in the 4th district I just think Marshall is a significantly better team than Murray and they should win by 10-15.

Grayson County is a solid team. I watched their game at Lyon County and that was a tight back and forth game for the first 3 quarters or so before the Lyons pulled away. I will say it seems Daviess has lost their edge in the last few weeks of the season. Has something happened like an injury or anything?

Final from Strawberry Hills Pharmacy Arena. McCracken came out with fantastic energy tonight. Mustangs led 17-3 after the first quarter and played stifling defense the first 8 minutes. Luke Armstrong did not play much in the first quarter for the Lakers which severely hindered them offensively. McCracken led 44-15 at the half and Myles Woodfork put on a show turning defense into offense to start the 3rd quarter for McCracken scoring the first 11 points of the quarter for the Mustangs and scored his 2000th career point. The running clock started midway through the third as McCracken led 65-30 and then the second/ third string finished out the game. Congrats to McCracken closing out the regular season with a couple of dominant performances and getting to 25-3 going into the postseason. Also congrats to Myles Woodfork for scoring his 2000th career point. He is an absolute joy to watch! It’s also noteworthy that McCracken had 9 different players play in the first half and that’s with Garrett Miller still being out with his injury. This team is very deep!

Final from the championship game of the Superman Classic at Massac County IL per MCHS on Facebook. From what I could find it looks like Goreville falls to 25-4 and is ranked anywhere from 2-4 in Illinois class 1A depending on where I looked. The championship game was supposed to be played several weeks ago but was rescheduled due to the weather. Solid win for the Tigers!

Great job again this week! McCracken is the favorite for sure but there are several teams who could upset them in the post season. In the two games so far I think Marshall did a fantastic job slowing down Myles Woodfork, which is no easy task. Also you’re right about PT, they are significantly better than their record would indicate. Max Russell has been a great addition for the Tornado. You mentioned the young players for St. Mary and they will definitely be a force to recon with over the next few years but McCracken and Tilghman also have some fantastic young players. The 2nd District will be very fun to watch over the next few years.

Final from Saturday night at Centralia per the “Morning Sentinel”. Centralia moves to 28-1 on the season and is ranked number 4 in the state of Illinois class 3A (the states second largest class). Not a good showing for the Blue Tornado but I would’ve been surprised if they had been able to keep this one close. For those not familiar with Centralia they recently beat Marion by 19 and prior to that had 2 double digit wins over a really solid Mt. Vernon team. Marion recently beat PT by 9 and Mt. Vernon lost to McCracken by 1 in OT and beat Marshall County by 5. Additionally there’s an interesting article I remember from a few years ago that had Centralia as second in the country in all time wins. I believe Mt. Vernon IL, Ashland Blazer, and Paducah Tilghman were all also listed in the top 10 nationally for all time wins.

Final per the scoreboard. I don’t have any stats or info on this game. I’m not surprised that McCracken won by a large margin but 43 points does surprise me. Mustangs move to 24-3 with their only in state losses being to Boyd County and Daviess County. Additionally this will be the last time the Mustangs and Tigers play as Hopkinsville is set for consolidation after this season. From what I could find on Riherds McCracken is now 5-3 against Hopkinsville all time and this was the first meeting between the two programs where the margin of victory was not single digits.

Final per WMIX Sports on Facebook. Marshalls travel 2 hours north to play a tough Mt. Vernon team and lose by 5. Mt. Vernon moves to 20-7, including a 1 point loss to McCracken. The Marshalls fall to 18-7. Matthew Langhi led all scorers with 32.

McCracken had several silly turnovers and Graves shot the ball very well. That combined with McCracken being shorthanded and Graves playing really good basketball right now culminated in the score.

McCracken’s Owen Grogen drove for the game winner to give the Mustangs the hard fought one point win. I watched the game on gctv YouTube. It looked like Graves County shot the ball really well all game.

PT travelled up to Marion IL and played them close. PT led 24-21 at the half. Marion has a solid team and I think is better than their record indicates (14-10). Also PT was without starting PG Warren Caruthers who missed his second straight game. I would’ve liked to have seen the Tornado win but overall a good showing by this young team on the road against a quality opponent.

Final per McCracken County Media Team YouTube live stream. McCracken led by 9 at halftime and came out with a different energy in second half. St. Mary is a very promising team as basically all of their biggest contributors are 8th grade, freshmen, or sophomores.

Final from the Rich Herrin Classic in Benton IL via hudltv. Marshall’s led by 5-7 for most of the first half until Pinckneyville went on a run early in the 3rd quarter and took a one point lead. It appeared like that was all it took to wake Marshall County up because after trailing 33-32 early in the third they finished the game on a 41-14 run to win by 26. My thoughts on Pinckneyville is they would be a decent but not great team in Kentucky this year. Their guard play was below average but they have some size including Ty Laur, a 6’7-6’8 senior committed to SIU. I know Graves County beat Pinckneyville by 8 earlier in the season in Murray. I will also say the officiating in this game was very different from the officiating in the McCracken v. Mt. Vernon game in Illinois about a week ago where in that game they let them play and it was very physical. This game was officiated very tight and there were a lot of fouls called. Overall good performance by the Marshall’s. Way to represent Kentucky.

Final from McCracken County per their YouTube. McCracken Was up 20-10 after one and 39-20 at half. Unfortunately Garrett Miller left the game in the 3rd quarter and it appeared he may have reinjured his wrist or at least irritated it. Hopefully it’s not too serious and he can return soon.

Per the scoreboard. McCracken goes up to Mt. Vernon IL and gets a tough OT win against a solid team. I was watching this game on WMIX Sports YouTube and part of the way through the 3rd quarter the video stopped and said the video had been made private? I cleared out of YouTube and went back to try to watch the rest and the video was completely gone so I can’t speak on how the rest of the game played out but from the part I watched neither team was shooting the ball well at all, it was 20-19 McCracken at halftime.

Per the scoreboard. Murray goes into Reed Condor Gymnasium and gets the upset with over the Marshalls. Big district win for the Tigers.

Solid win in Eddyville for the Colonels. But as gchs mentioned this was Lyon County’s third game in 36 hours. Tough to do against three straight really good teams. In my opinion these are the two teams contending for a region 2 championship.

Looks like a very tough schedule for a first year program. Scrimmaging Manual and then playing Cooper, Mayfield, Frederick Douglas, South Warren, and Paducah Tilghman in their non district is a lot. The Tigers will definitely be battle tested by the end of the season. I don’t know much about McKenzie, TN but from what I found it looks like they went 13-2 last year and beat the old Christian County 42-12 in Hopkinsville. Good on them for not shying away from competition!

We’ve had some conversations in the first region threads about Paducah Tilghman’s struggles this season and it appears Owensboro has fallen on similar hard time. Owensboro historically has been one of the best programs in the state. From an outsider who’s not very familiar with the third region it’s really odd to see Owensboro at 2-14. What’s going on with the program? Coach Drake is still there, correct?

Great job as always! There were some very surprising results this week, including upsets wins as well as point differentials. I’m excited for several of the games this week. Notably McCracken at Mt. Vernon IL, Murray at Marshall, and Mayfield at Graves. Another interesting week ahead in Region 1.

Also Coach Overstreet is now an assistant at McCracken so PT lost their leading scorer and head coach prior to this season. In the long run PT should be fine but there was no way around this being a down year for them.

Lyon County beats Caverna by 3 to win the All A State championship after being Newport in OT earlier today. Congratulations LC!

I think with coach Overstreet being let go and coach Davis in his first season they’re basically in a rebuild situation. From what I’ve seen PT lacks size, depth, and a true go to scorer. I think their leading scorer against McCracken had around 11 points. I know coach Davis had some good success in Illinois both as a player and as a coach so I would like to think he’ll get the program turned around but it’s going to take some time. In the game last night PT had no answer for Aaron Adams and Jackson Klope. Even though this game got away from them I do believe this PT is better than the team that played the first several games of the season.

Final from McCracken County. I watched the game on McCracken County’s YouTube channel. They put on a great free show for anybody that wants to watch them play. Myles Woodfork led MC with 22 points, Klope had 13, and Adams had 11. McCracken looked much better tonight than they did a couple weeks ago at PT. The game was close in the first quarter before McCracken really pulled away and got the running clock going in the third quarter. Even though the score wasn’t close it was still an enjoyable game to watch.
