What happened to the Perry County Central that knocked off Taylor county at Taylor, earlier in the season?

Agree! It is a very distastefull characteristic they have. If they would just shut their mouth and play ball, we could regard them as a 'classy' outfit. A friend ask me today " Just how much control do you think Gatemouth has on those boys"? There was only a little bit of mouthy by the Tigers. Even before James Brewer came to Bardstown, I thought Bardstown conducted themselfs like gentlemen. A common sentiment of the fifth region fans is that it is hard to cheer for Taylor! But I am sorry the weather cancelled the Hoptown/Taylor matchup. So if Hoptown wins their region I will go to Lexington and cheer for Taylor.

I bet the N. Hardin players and staff were singing the blues last night. I bet they were listening to Clarence "GATEMOUTH" Brown!

If you remember correctly, (I don't), the refs warned Goodin either before the tip, or the first dead ball, about trash talkin'/taunting. Remember, in the second half (I think) when Goodin hit the 3 and backpedaled, bouncin' his head and jackin' his jaw? On the ensuing NH possesion young Jackson came from out on the floor and went over the top of Goodin and slammed dunked the rebound. Poetic Justice! The "in the face" jawin' Jackson gave Goodin was NBA quality, as was the poster dunk. Jackson certainly should have been T'd, but the refs knew they let Goodin get by with bad conduct moments before, after warning him early. They knew they would certainly be considerd bias if they T'd Jackson. The Taylor fans screamed adamently for a NH T though! The NH T you refeered to accounted for the 5th personal foul on all-tourney Alexander, further diminishing the chances for a late run by NH.

Well, Randy, I'll have to pick the Cardinals on this one. Neither is a big team, but I believe the overall larger size of Taylor will be in their favor. If the Tigers are allowed to hold, lean, grap and slap as they were last night, the size advantage will be negated. I hope to see a cleaner game than last night's examples. In the N. Hardin/Taylor game their was an effort to curtail the taunting early, but allowed to go on most of the night. I expect a war tonight in Greensburg!

I don't look for them to make it 6 wins in a row, Jim. Taylor looks just too strong. I think the quickness factor is equal, but Taylor is a little bigger overall. But then again, I did not expect Bardstown to take E-town out of it's game as they did. It sure would have helped if E-town hit some buckets!

Thank you for the welcome to BGP. It is great forum and sounding board! I am off to Bowling Green. Hopefully, I will see Russel Springs derive some satisfaction with a victory over Warren Central. In 2013, Russell earned the regional title with heart and hustle, but the banner was AWARDED to Central, by the striped-shirt triumvirate. I will watch for ball-screen action. The guard from Clinton, Dalton, is well equiped and they start 6-7,6-8 up front. I have more to add to this thread, but will have to wait until probably Sunday because 5th region starts at 10 am tomorrow. I want to relate my 'ole buddy's Ralph Shearer's input to your original question. Ralph is a long ago allstater from Adair, taking Adair to consecutive state apperances, 54 And 55.

I do some shopping in Greensburg. I have heard that rumor in Columbia, and disspelled in Greensburg. Compton is one of the most improved players in the state, from the begining of last year. Keith Young has ressurected the Greensburg program. He has been looking forward to hosting the region; this year is his first. It is a shame, if his team is not complete. If Compton is unavailable, I hope the other players step up and compete. Colton Bush is extremly capable in rebounding, pushing the pace and 3 point shooting. I am not hip to tweeting! Do you feel comfortable telling what his tweet was? Could this be an example when the emotions of youth may come back to haunt the tweeter? I will be at the 4th tonight and also the 5th tomorrow!

Rumor has it that Compton quit yesterday, just a few days after he was caught eating dinner with a Taylor County assistant....hmmm. I hope not!

That is a real good answer, Joker! I don't think Woods ever lost his confidence that game; he kept on firing. LOL! Real good shooters are always confident the next shot is going in. Being a coach's son, and having his shooting ability, I suppose there are some coaches at the next level who are hoping Woods will run the high ball screen for them. Does any one have word on his recruetment?

I agree with the "it depends". There would be a myriad of factors involving court decisions and having athletic youngsters to excecute the decision, a decision does not always work. Compounding the problem is other athletic youngsters are told to foil the excecution. Coaches are either the goats or the heros, depending on the players excecution or lack of excecution. I do appreciate the coaches who try, as oppose to those who insist on the same dern thing over and over, regardless of results.

Thanks, Joker! Of the teams you have mentioned, I have only seen Wayne County, at Jock Sutherland. I do remember a lot of action, but what I remember the most is a poor shooting performance by Peyton Woods. I checked stats: 4/16 from the field-1/12 from 3. Some pre-game Defensive strategy would have been determined by his strong, nearly 42%, 3 point accuracy. Do you think most coaches would stick with pre-game strategy throughout the game or change at some point when it is apparent he was cold that day. For an example: If the decision was made to chase Woods over the ball screen, would it be changed to go under, when it was decided he was not hitting that game?

I like the above described defense. But I believe the defense of the ball screen at a high school level is nearly a mute point. I watch a lot of 5th (w/adair) 4th (w/Russell) and the 12th region in general. For the last eight seasons I can count on my fingers the amount of screens/picks in general Adair has set. I see very few ball screens set in High School. Most of the time the dribblers do not dribble at the screener, but dribbles around (bananna out) resulting in a lot of screeners picking up a foul because they move, trying to get a piece of the defender. Fellows, if you all can point out a team, district or region where ball screens are preveleant, I will watch for them. Pick and Roll rules!

Thanks for the update. I am getting ready to go, but just check game listings on TV. I see I can get WKU/Marshall at 430CST. Last night Adair comemerated the 54 and 55 regional champs that took 4th and 2nd in the state, respectivley. A lot of the old boys are still around, and I had after game Wendy's chilli with the triumverant of 2 time all-state Ralph Sheerer, Hack Rowe, and WKU's Jim Richards, who was on the 54 team. Jim was impressed I was wearing a WKU hat. He told us story's of WKU, the old Ohio Valley Conference, where Ralph played at Tn Tech, and his time coaching Glasgow to the 68 champioship. He left me with huge enthusiasm for my favorite college team. I have already watched the Lady 'Toppers beat Marshall at Diddle. A local girl, Greensburg Micha Jones, has started every game while at WKU. She is a junior. I may as well make it a double header! By the way Jim played base ball with Micha's grand Pa at WKU. The game is at Huntington, so it should be competitive. I'll see if I can't monitor the Lincoln/Knott game on air or online. Thanks again!

Yes, Sir! Rumor has it that his interest may be shifting to football. I have never seen him play, but I am told he is a 6-5 strong armed quarterback. He and his fellow sophmore class led Adair to the state playoffs. That was a first, I am sure, and winning football seasons at Adair are rare. Chance's lack of utilization is helping him lose interest and motivation on the basketball court. That is a shame. For a boy that played varsity in 7th grade, started while in the 8th, his progression has changed to digression, I do believe. He is no longer the best player on the team. His freshman brother, Corey, is really turning on. He scored 27 against Campbellsville in a win last week. Adair has a history of not featuring their most talented. Witness Kalen Kimberland: Asked to be just a role player by Adair, he became All-American at Lindsey Wilson. Darren Ballou was a tremdously talented shooting big man at Adair. YOu'd think maybe a few pick and rolls or pick and pops would have been called for him. NOPE! His frustration grew to a lack of motivation that he transferred without playing a game a Morehead and developed into head-down foot-shuffling player at LIndsey Wilson, only starting a few times.

Great! Thanks for the info. I have seen Lincoln and Southwestern 3 times each. I would have to choose Lincoln over SW slightly. So, in light of the fact Southwestern beat Knott Central last week, I'll favor Lincoln since they are at home. Lincoln was very competitive with Taylor Co for most of the game at Jock Sutherland. Lincoln's Timmy Taylor is one who seemed to match the quickness of the Taylor County players. But if well coached, a team with 2 Div 1 players should be hard to contend with. I agree: It shouldbe a great match-up.

I have been told there may be another one on Knott Central. Could that be Evan Hall? I am new to this forum and the shared information has already proved to be helpful. Post more game time info if available, please.

And the 1: I would bet a dollar to a donut, Taylor could go to Perry Central everday for the rest of the season and get revenge on a daily basis. At the Jock Sutherland, Taylor, in their defeat of Lincoln Co, looked much more polished then Perry County Central did in their loss to Lafayette. Oh Yeah! Taylor can make big noise in the sweet 16, but as you are fully aware, the trick is to survive the 5th. Luckily, for Taylor, it is at neighboring Green County. Taylor has interchangability, exceptional quickness, gang rebounding, and a sophisticated overplaying defense that may intimidate an opponent. If on top of their games, E-town, John and North Hardin along with Bardstown can win the region if Taylor has problems.

Agree with the point of a big losing interest. Case in point: Adair County/Chance Melton
