  1. I always that Crimson looks good on top of purple! I remember that game. I know several guys that say that LSU is the toughest place to play on saturday nights in the SEC, they say it is so loud.

If you haven't been to Baton Rouge on a fall Saturday night you haven't truly experienced SEC football. It is an event.

  2. Have'nt we been down this road enough? What's the point in stirring the waters again.:irked:Lets try and keep it on topic. If you want to start another thread about Mercers class size I'm sure a search of the forum would bring up quite a few other threads on the same subject.

I couldn't care less about Mercer's "class size". There aren't many teams in 4A last year that had 92 players. I would also like to hear about the coaching staff with 20 coaches. All reasonable inquiries in my opinion.

  3. He was a missed layup away from the Elite 8 this year, coaching a school that had exactly THREE NCAA Tourney wins before his arrival.

He was also 0-2 against Coach Knight this year. I guess Coach Knight still knows how to coach a little bit. Like I said before, this list is a joke. It is a "media-darling" list.

  4. The writer admits that this is a "what have you done lately" list. I guess I would ask what have some of these guys done at all? Not including Coach Knight in any top ten list makes it a joke. In case the writer didn't notice, Coach Knight has turned TT into a basketball team where one didn't exist.

  5. Here Larry, LSU. That better.

Much better, reminds me of the day we broke Bama's home winning streak in 1993 (I think). LSU was up big and in the fourth quarter Bama put Palmer (the real deuce) at QB and he almost won the game single handedly. Great day at a fine venue. I must admit, Bama fans are some of the best.

  6. Well many people, honestly now, claim he won 3....Obviously the 96' title, they give him credit for the 98' title because we all know that team was so talented, and they even claim that he technically won the 97' title because we all know that if Allen Edwards, or Derek Anderson play they easily win that one....

No lie, I've actually had to listen to this arguement from a sober, semi-intelligent human being....Really makes you wonder, don't it?

It is a better case than the one for the 1950 "national title" in football.

  7. Yeah, its been hard to pull against Iroquois when Male has played them, but it is my kid...Now Momma went to Butler and we have some fun with that one. Bears/Raiders in girls B-Ball.

No way I would pass up all the smack I could talk if my alma mater beat Trinity. Not a day would go by without reminding friends and relatives of the score.

  8. LSU, sons went to Atherton, 17 year old at...well you know, I went to Iroquois, 10 year old we hope Manual, Male, or where ever he gets the most feelers from. Thats how I pull for the area schools. There is some public schools I don't care for in some sports, and some private schools the same way. I will not mention any schools, because I have changed my ways. (see some post back in the late fall)

That all sounds legit. I didn't attend Trinity but my son did. FYI, if Trinity was to play my high school alma mater, I would be rooting for the Fighting Falcons to defeat the Rocks.

  9. All the multiple team fans with separate schools for different sports seems rather odd to me. I'm a fan of my alma mater plain and simple.

Question: does anyone on this site follow multiple high school sports i.e. Trinity football fan, Ballard basketball fan and PRP for baseball? Just wondering.

  10. I think being in the top 10 shows that he is getting a TON more respect than you might wish for him.

Once again, if you would read the origin of the thread it explains my post. I recognize that he is ranked #9 but the posters on this thread rated him higher. I was taking a stab at explaining the difference.

My take is that Andre throws a pretty ball. No question about that. I think one can question his decision making, his leadership and his toughness. JMO, of course.

  11. Scott County's basketball success is due to having strong community support, lots of kids interested in basketball, a great facility, and an outstanding coach in Billy Hicks.

Who in the right mind wouldn't want to play for Scott County if they are good enough?

Not to mention having one high school.

  12. No, Rock, he is not the worst coach in the country. He is adequate and has been to a Final Four. Did I just agree with you? :creepy: :jump: However, I think he is a better recruiter than a bench coach.

I agree. A quote aimed at Coach Brown years ago is just as true about Coach Brady. "Never has so little been done with so much". But to say "the worst in the country" is a little strong.:thumb:

  13. ^ It's not about who is the most prolific...these people obviously feel that Ainge has the intangibles to be the better Qb now.

If someone has some free time I'd like to see what portion of Andre's numbers were racked up after the game was over. He threw for some yards against UofL for instance, but the game was long over before he actually contributed. Might be one reason why doesn't the respect that some on here think he deserves.

  14. It was on the early morning news this morning.. Got a commitment from 2009 PG from Texas. Followed up by 6'8" DeAndre Jordan getting out of his LOI from the Aggies to follow Gillespie to Kentucky.

Wasn't this kid listed as a seven footer earlier?

  15. Yeah it is..... I have a little knowledge on the bad coaching going on at LSU. I know a former player and father pretty well.....:D Brady had the second most talented team in the SEC and didn't do a thing this year. This has happened more often than not. He is a joke........Get real!!!!!!!

If you are talking about Ross give Brady some credit. He was honest with him and allowed him to transfer were he would do better. Class move not to just BS the kid. Calling a coach of an SEC team that has gone to the final four just a year ago "a joke" shows that you have an agenda and aren't the least bit objective.

And don't forget "dumb ole joke Brady" is 2-0 against your boy Billy G. He also was able to beat the Gators, something Tubby couldn't do the past few years. :D

  16. Brady is in the same class as Dale Brown, LSU can have you down and you think that the game is lost / over - you then look across to the opposing bench and see Brady and you know that you have a chance.

Yeah, I know that B. Knight said this about D. Brown but it also fits Brady.

Check out Dale's record, he won a lot more games than a lot of so called basketball greats. He did a pretty good job at a school that had very little basketball "winning tradition". He coached his team to two final fours. He did his best work with little talent (see 1986 final four team). He also crapped out with some of the best talent in college basketball history (couldn't win the conference with Shaq, Roberts and Jackson).

And don't forget, Brady is 2-0 versus Gillispie.

  17. Of course that win came when LSU was 5-1 and still nationally ranked. Before the coaching genius that is John Brady totally lost control of his team, a team that returned 3 starters plus Tack Minor (the starting point guard at the beginning of the 05-06 season before injury) from a Final Four team. With what he had returning he managed to avoid a losing season at 17-15 but couldn't even get into the NIT. Brady is far from a great coach, adequate at best.

If you read the posts that I responded to, you would see that I responded to the claim that Brady was "the worst coach in the country". He aint John Wooden, he aint even Dale Brown, but he is far from "the worst coach in the country". FYI, a win is a win. What difference does it make what time of year the Tigers beat the Aggies? Both teams were healthy.
