  1. It is simply not that simple. It might be for the 4A public city schools but it is not that simple for the rural county schools.

Good example is golf. $2500 to be a member of the country club in my county. Only 5 of my 14 golfers are members. Can't afford it. So they get to play 2 months out of the year. I feel safe in saying that Notre Dame, Bishop Brossart, Villa Madonna, Lex Catholic, etc. more than 40% of their golfers find themselves as members of a country club.

I am NOT saying separate the two, but saying the situation is unequal and there is a distinct advantage. So when you say simply hire better coaches, you got to remember that rural, public school coaches have to do MORE and a BETTER job than the private school coaches, because the private school coaches are usually starting with better polished athletes. Unless you feel that a golfer can be just as good playing 2 months out of the year vs. a golfer than can play from April through October everyday of the week.

I play golf several times a week on local municipal courses. I see a great many young high school golfers playing these same courses. Kids can play for next to nothing so your argument doesn't hold water. These courses have turned out some of the best young golfers in Louisville.

  2. It seems to me that the "Private" school supporters are happy until the word "recruit" is spelled out. Innuendo? Maybe. I can assure you that no rumor is being passed around here. What I am suggesting is that it could be so out of control that we are to the "point of no return" on getting this injustice to Kentucky athletes corrected. Also, my comments could be viewed at shameful to those who don't have a conscience. We are talking about athletes and athletics here. This young man in question could have actually contributed something to a team at public school, but I'm sure the "Bling-Bling" associated with a championship is more enticing to immature teenagers. Matter of fact, it was the father of this young man that was proud enough to tell everyone about all the nice "jewelry" and how simple it was for his son to get some of it. Maybe there should be a course taught at some of the "Privates" on how to keep a "Superego" under control.

Sorry my friend, but as a father of a kid that owns some of that jewelry I must correct you. My son went to Trinity for a lot more than football. He turned out to be a marginal player, but a fine young man. I asked him recently if he missed some things about his high school days, he said yes but football didn't even pop up in the top ten. He was proud of his efforts on the grid iron though and felt every bit as much a champion as anyone else on the team and for good reason. Maybe he didn't "contribute" in your book, but at schools like Trinity and St.X evry kids efforts are appreciated and welcomed. And since they seem to win their share of titles maybe you should try it their way.

  3. I believe that some of the great athletic talent across the state should be afforded an opportunity of winning a state championship ring. I know of one young man (a fine young man w/ little or no athletic ability) that has 3 state championship rings - 2 in football and 1 in wrestling - and he didn't see one second of varsity play in football and spent very little time on the mat at meets. I think that all young men and women from Kentucky deserve an equal chance of winning a championship. Why should an individual get the prize when in reality they did not fully participate? Look at all of the public school athletes statewide that are multi-talented in more that one sport and give their all only to realize come the end of the season that they are out-numbered by the team roster and finances of a private school that has the capability of recruiting by offering "academic?" scholarships or assistance. I applaud the public school officials that are making a priority of bringing this sticky situation to the attention of the KHSAA and the general public.

Your example is shameful and probably represents the feelings of a number of losing programs. The kid you mentioned was a part of the team. He practiced with the team and was ready if called on. This attitude is taught at schools like Trinity and X, and is a big part of their success. I would suggest that instead of trying to eliminate the competition, try to emulate the competition.

Also, if you are aware of any recruiting being done by any school please report it. If not, please don't bring your rumors and innuendo to this board.

  4. You can divide it any way you want, the fact of the matter is the kids can go to any school they choose, for any reason.

The fact is you CAN'T go to any school you want. Kids reside in districts and they go to their district school unless they want to participate in a program that doesn't exist at their school. If you don't believe me just try to enroll your child at the school of your choice after the 8th grade.

On a lighter note, you and your spouse seem to be doing your part in increasing the pool of talent in Graves County. Keep up the good work.

So, explain to me, why should I think they're some sort of god of football?

Whats great? How about 14 championships since 1968? How about 50 straight wins?

    Why all the hate?

A student is eligible at the school located in the OHIO school district where the parent or legal guardian resides when all other eligibility standards are met. If your parent/legal guardian lives outside of Ohio, you are not eligible unless you meet one of the exceptions to the residency bylaws. When there has been change of custody, the student must reside in the same school district with the legal guardian.

So it would seem that, in general, to play in Ohio you must live in Ohio.

By using the phrase "one of the exceptions" it seems that, in general, to play in Ohio you must meet one of the multiple exceptions.

Just because I speak the truth, I can understand your anger. But let the truth speak for itself. You want to know where I coach so bad, do some investigating.

I'm always suspicious of anyone claiming to "speak the truth" when expressing their opinion. I prefer to deal with facts. If you want to talk about "truth" consult your clergyman.

Anger? you give yourself way too much credit.

I really don't care where you coach. Bad joke, I guess.

I do think it is interesting that there are not any winning coachs posting on this site. I guess they are too busy coaching, teaching, talking to the media etc.

I said this because I had witness football from all over These United States, and though I am impressed with Trinity's success. I am fully aware of their advantages.

To reinforce my view point, I stated I know that overall, football is better in Texas, California, and Florida. And if you didn't believe that check the rosters of the Major universities in Kentucky and they are full of athletes from those states.

Well the Trinity faithful came out swinging and assured to put me in my place. And you know what their main DEFENSE WAS, concerning why Texas, Cali, and Florida football is perhaps better???????????????????????????????????

    TheMan, you will LOVE THIS!!!!!

    Would you believe they asked?????

and I quote "does anyone have the total population figures for the states of CA, TX, FL? how about KY?"

And how about about this one THEMAN!!! and I quote "The depth in the aforementioned states is unreal and dwarfs anything we may have. Sure that is a result of population, but nevertheless it contributes to a better product as a whole."

Finally they laid the facts out to me! TheMan, you really will love this one! Speaking of the populations of the states I mentioned And I quote "that is a pool 17.5 times larger to fish in"

How about that? Texas, Florida, and Cali are better because they have a larger population, but Trinity isn't better because they have a larger population?????? Is it me or something smells Stinky!

Guys, Trinity has an advantage! A Big One!

    :lol: :lol: :lol::fight:

Inquiring minds want to know. What team do you coach? How bad did Trinity beat you?

Because they have had a tradition. Well Meade County broke St. X's tradition last year. That was the first time since 1988 they had been put out in the first round. there has been teh question can trinity can be beaten. Yes they can be beat you just have to have the heart to do it. And put all you have into the game before that. and then the next and the next. YOU CAN'T DROP THE BALL. never let up!!!! So why worry if lexington is better. It makes no sense. Worry about who you face first in the playoffs and look at who you wanna play in the final round to prove you can win!!!!:ylsuper:

First, don't be satisfied with knocking off a ranked team in the first round. Meade was so high about knocking off x, they forgot to show up to play Male. Next, win a few championships and people will take you seriously. With all due respect to your "just have to have a heart" comment. Thats an insult to every team that has been defeated by a better team. Are you saying that all the teams that Trinity has defeated over the past year don't have heart? Was last year's loss to Male just a matter of "heart"?

  10. All Louisville finals are the best attended games of the playoffs. Therefore I would guess that they produce the biggest payday. I really don't understand your previous rant. I think this thread was started to compare Louisville vs. Lexington football success. It is hard for me to believe that anyone could think that Lexington is anywhere near Louisville in football success. It is a fact, deal with it.
