  1. The gym its self would be great in terms of the atmosphere it would provide compared to a half-full Fieldhouse. The parking situation is what concerns me, when Bracken Co hosts the district tournament usually finding a place to park is the hardest thing to do.

If it was too bad you could park cars on the football field and the practice football field. I thought the shuttle buses were a good idea, not great.

  2. It may look good on paper but if you attended the semi-final and final game last year at GRC you'd understand why. Mason Co wouldn't let it go to the Igloo anytime soon from the 39th with the talent they have now and coming up the next 7+ years.

Bracken County should have built the gym bigger in '97 because it's a huge part in the community. Believe it or not Augusta used to host the Girls District tournament

  3. Feel like there wasn't even enough room at GRC last year and I doubt there will be enough at Campbell this year.

The districts get to pick each year and you can't take it from the Fieldhouse and move it to the Igloo. Brooksville is capable of holding districts but definitely not Regional.

    Looks good on paper

From what I see more people went to the district final than any game of girls region in 2014.

  4. Since the girls region draws less attendance, would it be at all possible to host the 10th Region Girls Baseball Tournament at the Igloo? If you've been to a district game you will see that it is packed to capacity, but only because: 1- Boy/Girl Double Header, 2-All 4 teams are less than 20 minutes away, 3- Close games/Rivals

During the 39th district in 2014 (at Bracken Co.) had these in paid attendance for Boy/Girl Doubleheader, Not counting free passes:

    Session 1(Bracken/St. Pat)- 462

    Session 2(Mason/Augusta)- 1185

    Session 3(G-Bracken/Mason, B-Bracken/Augusta)- 1448

Now for the 2014 10th Region Tournament Total Attendance with passes

    Session 1- 1390

    Session 2- 1008

    Session 3- 1446

    Session 4- 827

Note that Session 3 for the boys had more attendance than any day for the girls, and the 1448 was without passes, with passes it would have been around 1650. 200 more people than the highest girls game

The KHSAA website states that The Igloo can hold 2000, but we know that limit has been broken. For the parking, they ran shuttle buses from the middle and elementary school. They are already hosting this year's boys and girls Class A Tournament, so am I crazy to think Bracken County could host girls region? What's your thoughts?

  5. Totally correct in your observation. I am guilty as charged, but suspect the rankings are pretty accurate. In fact (and this is memory, which is dangerous), I think BGP ratings were pretty close to mine with the exception of lowering Bracken Co. below Brossart to possibly create Round 2 no earlier than finals.

They need to do something, Bracken County's path so far is looking a little like Paris, Augusta, Brossart.

  6. What a great rivalry game. My family and myself included have always been part of this rivalry and it was awesome then and now has soared to new heights. Coaching and living in a different part of the state I wish our players and fans could experience the atmosphere during a heated Bracken - A-Town game. Coaches, players, and fans are lucky to be part of 10th region basketball.

    Welcome to the site! :thumb:

  7. In fact maybe the Touchstone All A Committee might want to hire BGP to seed all 16 regions. What say others? Maybe this new source of revenue could be used to reward members for "Best New Idea". I think this post ought to win the first award.

Or the way PCROradio.com and I do it, you have the coaches send them in then average them.

  8. I didn't completely, BUT coming into th game it was thought of as Cummins and O'Mara as the number 1 and 2 players in the region. They were matched up most of the night, and O'Mara dominated the matchup, thus for the time being making her the top player in the region in MOST people's eyes.
Wasn't Bailey double teamed most of the night? And Omara could give the ball off to anyone if she was pressured, for the most part Bailey didn't have that option and was forced to take bad shots.
  9. It was one of the best games I have ever seen in Bracken and Augusta rival. Great atmosphere and both teams refusing to lose. Big shoot after big shoot. But still with this talk about Bracken being a region contender right now I would have to disagree been in close games but haven't won any as of yet. One thing I noticed about Bracken is coach Hinson already has them playing tougher and with more heart. Austin Crawford is a great player but if supporting cast doesn't step up they will continue to lose. Everyone keeps putting mason behind them and I don't agree is it because coach Hinson. These kids have never hung close with mason and I don't expect it to change because of new coach . Bracken has always feared mason even if they had a better team than them . I just don't believe mason / Bracken game will even be close.

You're not sounding like a Polar Bear Alumni should... They lost two games to two possible region contenders, in the first week and a half of having a new coach. Sounds like you're already giving up hope on this season.
