  1. Actually, 3-0 (+/-4). I know I shouldn't go out on a limb like that, but strange things happen in Regionals. In 2014 I saw a team favored by Maher by 2.5 goals, up 3-1 in the second half, lose on PKs. Emotion and momentum in Regionals can play havoc with expectations.
  2. ... and one was in like the first two minutes of the game. Tough way to start.
  3. NCC has played a more direct and counter-attacking style since as long as I've watched them. It generally suits their numbers (depth) and options on attack with players like Juniet, Tolle, Louis, and Muck/Schultz. Sometimes that's the worst match up for a heavily possession-stylle team. I'd expect them to come to play and spend most of the night defending. CCH should win. They easily could open it up like Trinity did against Ballard last night. But I also could see it being a tight game.
  4. 2-0 late in the game. SK missed a PK with 4 minutes left. North Oldham adds one on in last minute. Good season SK. Best of luck to the seniors with what comes next!
  5. No doubt CovCath is playing well and should win (Maher has them +3 goals on a neutral field). I'd still expect a little more than "not much of a game." NCC can be a tough out this time of year. I think they won 2 of the 3 times they met CCH in Regionals between 2011 and 2015. There will be some excellent young men who end their high school soccer careers tomorrow night. Stay healthy and good luck to all!
  6. Per Riherds. Wow. Didn't see that one coming.
  7. Trinity got 20 or more players into every game but one so far with no losses and 3 ties. That's tremendous depth. How much (if at all) will Trinity shorten the bench during post-season?
  8. I'm going to call it closer and say Trinity only beats Ballard 2-1. Three of Ballard's five losses came when Ezra Ness was out (including a 3-1 loss to Trinity). I think Ness is one of their top players.
  9. So who does SK play and where/when do they play?
  10. According to an SK parent the Pioneers are hosting Collins on Monday night. Good luck to SK whoever you play!
  11. Bracket below per KHSAA. But Simon Kenton (KY#40) won its District and Shelby County lost in first round of its District play. Substitute SK for Shelby County and send refs to Independence on Monday??? Or is this somehow correct??? Carroll Co (KY126) v Collins (KY#57) Oldham Co (KY#14) v Grant Co (KY#95) Shelby Co (KY#108) v North Oldham (KY#18) Anderson Co (KY#71) v Gallatin Co (KY#152) First round games at District winners on 10/17. Semis and finals at Collins on 10/18 and 10/20.
  12. When being the Regional host really makes a difference... that's (hopefully) a lot of driving for Campbell County and Brossart next week.
  13. Everyone works it out as best possible. Share as share can.
  14. Your Trinity-Ballard game sounds like a barn-burner. Is Ballard really good for 2 goals against Trinity?
  15. Trinity (KY#3) v Ballard (KY#15) Collegiate (KY#2) v St Francis (KY#120) DuPont Manual (KY#5) v St X (KY#4) CAL (KY#25) v Atherton ( KY#73) First round games 10/17 at District winners (LC hosts at Assumption). Semis and finals at St X on 10/19 and 10/22. Winner hosts Region 6 winner. Top teams in Region 6 include Butler (KY#37) and Fern Creek (KY#64). Region 6/7 winner meets Region 9/12 winner in Lexington.
  16. Uhhhh... that wasn't the original question. But in the 9th Region I guess it would be NCC and Holy Cross. Or are you asking a different question? I honestly can't tell if you are being rhetorical or obtuse.
  17. In Region 9 it may be close to an even split. Highlands, NCC, St Henry, Holy Cross, Villa, and Cov Latin I think each all dedicated felds.
  18. Cameron Smith. Trinity. Really solid defender. What he adds in the air, both defensively and offensively, is special. Haji. Collegiate. Haven't seen him play but impressive stats and people who have seen him seem to gush. I'm almost hoping LC comes out of Region 7 just so I can get a chance to see him play in states.
  19. Nice job Camels and congrats to Colton Schneider in particular. What a great season that young man has had!
  20. LC's leading scorer Haji Abdikadir (40 goals) was out for this game. He didn't play in their 7-0 win over Male in the first round district game either. Anyone know the scoop? Will he be back for Regionals? Mirza Ugarak carried the load scoring both goals for LC.
  21. Collegiate avenges its only loss from way back on August 18 (3-1) returning the favor to beat St X in the District finals by the same 2 goal margin. Wow
  22. Sam Stockton (Trinity) was the KY Gatorade POY in both his Junior (2013) and Senior (2014) years. I guess there are probably multiple POY awards.
