I think the Cru did a great job second half. But come on.... someone besides me who was there during the second half... were there some very small/young looking players for Dunbar playing second half or what? Cru defense did look good and DJ Sanders can attack the goal as well as anyone in the 9th Region. I see St Henry playing a major role in Regionals. I'm rooting for them and certainly not taking anything away from them.

Scott fixed it as soon as it was flagged as an issue... kudos to whoever jumped on it and made the change. I think people mentioned it. "Phishy" I think was the echoed response. I'm not sure what "phishy" means, but it doesn't sound like an atta boy.

I only use what is reported for the individual games. So for Charlie Wend, as of yesterday I only have him credited for 33 goals and 8 assists, not the 36 goals and 9 assists that show up in the "Latest Game Stats Report Summary." Beats me where the discrepancy is...

Based on Monday's 2-1 win over #16 Simon Kenton, I'd say HSS (currently #13) is at least in the top 20. Based on Monday's 1-1 tie with #24 St Henry, seems like Campbell County might be top 30 or better.

Take your pick... little, slight, small, diminutive. They played good soccer and the Cru looked well put together, but I think almost anyone walking into that game in the second half would have been struck by the size of the Dunbar team. Anyone else there have the same observation?

How much of the game did Ricky Clemente play for Dunbar? I got there in second half and didn't see him in the field. Dunbar had some little guys on the field.

DJ Sanders plays for St Henry... its a form of dyslexia, I think. If an admin could get rid of the first post and change DJ Cooper to DJ Sanders that would be cool. I was hurrying to get it done/posted. I actually posted first in the Football Forum which could have been a disaster! Yes... Teams with Maher Rating less than 1 given a default rating of 1. Most recent Maher rating included... accounts for Maher ratings getting more accurate over time. Obviously not perfect but goes a long way toward addressing the concerns about goals scored against weak competition.

Here is a cut at Maher-weighted offense production for players with more than 10 goals and a score of more than 150 Maher-scaled scoring. I also calculated percent participation in goals scored by team (i.e., how many goals and assists reported for player divided by total number of goals scored by their team). Wend (Conner) 198 59% Devin Morgan (Scott) 156 89% D Geiman (Brossart) 155 46% Andrew Liles (NCC) 152 35% I did not use Maher rankings for Ohio teams as these were lower than opponents average ratings. CCH plays the most Ohio teams and they appear to score on (and get scored on) by Ohio teams at about the same rate as the KY teams they play. So instead I used teams average opponent rating (some call OAS). I used the individual stats reported for each game and noted that in a couple cases there was a discrepancy of a goal or assist more on the totals versus those listed for individual games (I went with those listed for individual games). I'll double check to make sure I haven't omitted anyone with more than 10 goals and more than 150 Maher-scaled scoring points. At the end of the season I may tally up and publish a longer list. It's kind of interesting.

^i think in the big boy leagues if the ball was on frame when it is misplayed or deflected into the net you credit the attacking player who played it on frame as the goal scorer... If it is not on frame when misplayed/deflected by a defender then it's an OG. Alternatively you can credit OGs to the closest leading scorer on the field (he said kiddingly).

Open night, great weather, torn about which game to catch: Paul Lawrence Dunbar at St Henry (7:00 pm). A chance to see Ricky Clemente play... he's a human highlight reel. MoCo at Scott (6:00 pm). A classic Region 10 match-up. Scott's chance to set a marker ahead of Regionals. And Devin Morgan is always fun to watch. CCH at Summit Country Day (6:30 pm). Battle of the midfield and a great stadium to watch a game at.

Lewandowski's 5th goal in 9 minutes against Wolfsburg. Epic. A "why not" moment. But we're probably talking about KY high school goals.

When I was in middle school I'd ball boy for all the home Varsity games. I never got any instructions from coach or players, but I was much quicker, more alert and threw more accurately when the home team was down late in a game. Don't let those girls chatting at midfield fool you... it's tactical.

Dylan Geiman (Brossart) free kick goal against HHS. Hard, bending, and catches a little piece of the post at the upper right hand corner on its way in. A no doubter all the way. Greg Fischer (Trinity) also had a fantastic goal against HHS. When he gets an open look on his left peg... look out.

I think Summit returned four midfielders from last year's team that lost in Ohio state semi-finals? Still hard to believe they are stronger than CCH.

Should be a good game. Both lost by 1 to Elder. Summit is currently ranked a good 20 spots higher than Elder in Ohio Maher. Summit's only other losses to out-of-state St Benedicts Prep (NJ) and Penn Charter. St. Benedicts is currently NSCAA #1 ranked high school team in country. CCH depth doesn't put Summit under, but does mitigate concerns about having played Conner last night. CCH 2-1.

Also notable... Boone had the largest rise in Maher Rank this past week moving up a full 20 spots from #70 to #50 with a scaled rating increase of 1.96. Nice job Rebels!

It would be very nice to see a NKY team go far in states, and yes, CCH looks the strong favorite. Region 9 should be a good tune-up as it has the 3rd strongest a average Maher rating in KY. Here are 5he top 4: Region 11 = 6.13 Region 7 = 4.59 Region 9 = 4.19 Region 10 = 1.13

CCH scored 21 goals and gave up 2 goals in games against five non-KY teams (4.25 GFA / 0.4 GAA). In 12 games against KY competition, CCH has scored 47 goals and given up 5 (3.92 GFA / 0.42 GAA). That seems pretty darn even. CCH beat Walnut Hills 7-1 and they are Maher-ranked 46 in Ohio... what KY school would you compare Walnut Hills to in KY?

Scored gets entered as 2-1 with a PK shootout noted, but none of the PK shootout goals get recorded for stats.

Not to worry, I check them all for accuracy. At least this year we're not getting assists awarded for every goal scored, teams awarding two assists for a single goal, or an assist to the player who takes the foul that yields a PK. That may be appropriate in rec soccer, hockey, or fantasy premier league but probably not for high school soccer.

Another thing the kids don't have control over. Probably gets fixed as soon as a loyal Scott gives new coach a heads up on that aspect of stats.

Maybe someone can help me out with this.. on 9/22 Scott lost to Brossart 2-1 (PKs). I'm pretty sure the game was tied at 1-1 and then settled in PKs. Stats recorded/reported by Scott show 2 goals for Hegarty and 1 goal for Morgan?
