Not sure why it should take until March to decide on the coach???

They had a boys coach that would have been there as long as they would have had him. He was from Garrard County and name was Brandon Cooper. His wife worked at the middle school and from what I understand the principle at the school didn't like her so she fired her. It amazing though that everyone else liked her. I think the coach's wife work from grant money. So instead of the school, school board and super stepping up and finding his wife a job so they could stay in garrard......they just sat on their butt and did nothing so they had to go back to Pulaski County. That made the 3rd coach in 3 years for the boys team.

Don Irvin....use to be the Burgin boys coach. Again this has nothing to do with him personally. Just using this as another example of the goings on at the school. Why was it not a good hire......because they settled again just to get someone hired, and you can't tell me they couldn't get a good young coach.

I have heard great things about Mr. Mullins and what he has done since he was hired in July. All I can say is he better get involved with the hiring of this football coach. But my next question is........if he is so sports minded along with Kalem Grasham why did they hire the coach for the girls basketball team? I will tell you why.......because the super didn't get involved and they settled for a coach like they have in the past. That was the new principles first hire and it showed nothing has changed so I have a hard time believing this will be any different. They will tell you that's all that applied and didn't know what to do....blah, blah, blah. I could go on and on about most of the athletic programs up there by it would do no good. All I can say if Coach Perry wants the job give it to him and the administration needs to back him 100%. By the way, I was in no way talking about the girls coach personally.....only the hiring process!!!

Not sure I included the principle in not having any say in the hiring of the coach's.

While I appreciate your input on this discussion and I'm sure Mr. Mullins is a fine person and has done good work at another school this has nothing to do with him. These issues have been going on for sometime and at Garrard County the super and the school board doesn't have a say or want to get involved with a coaching hire......just ask them!!!!!!

The principle at that time didn't have anything to do with the hiring of the football coach. There was a token committee formed with one person making the decision and all I will say about your other statements is some things never change. With all that being said....if they can get Coach Perry back then they should have hired him yesterday. Lol

Ok. Here is goes and I'm going to make some people mad but so be it. John Hodge did apply when they hired Scenters but was not seriously considered for some reasons which I will keep to myself(administration). Both were assistants at the time......one with multiple championships under excellent head coach's and the other was a lineman coach at a 6A schoolso age at that time should have been thrown out the window.......go figure!!!! On Scenters record.....losing records the first two yrs. state semis, then 7-5 the last two and really never beat anyone they shouldn't have in a weak district from top to bottom. Beat their rival Lincoln County one time during a time when they are struggling.

If they get Coach Perry to take the job that would be a 'Home Run'. If the administration doesn't change their ways or way of thinking this will NEVER happen.

I may be completely off base but didn't Danville promised Perry the job once he was considering the Garrard job???

You are exactly right on that statement but keep in mind there were other reasons to why he didn't take the job last time

He coached at Lex Cath I think last year? When it's all said and done don't think he will be coaching at Garrard County.

I heard last night Bill Letton had inquired about the job. Not sure how accurate this rumor is but don't really see this happening.

They had an opportunity to hire any of the three when they hired Scenters. Why would any of the three want it now if I'm so wrong. I've gave u many of my reasons why I don't think they will be coach and have a few more. You haven't giving any reasons except I'm suppose to go "hide and watch". That's what has happened with most of Garrards coaching hires. The people have "hidden and watched" while the school messes it up. I KNOW THAT TO BE A FACT!! Please if you have facts why any one of three would want or will be coach I would love to read them!!!!

Those three coaches are wishful thinking and none of the three will be the head coach at Garrard County. One is already a head coach and taking this job would be a step backwards and the other two have assistant jobs that are better than being the head man at Garrard and would be a pay cut for all. Plus they have to take into consideration the administration they would be working with.

I have my money on them messing it up or at least their track record proves that. Garrard wouldn't be in the position of hiring a football coach if they had hired john hodge in the first place but that wasn't going to happen because he is from garrard county and look how he has done at bourbon.

Don't quote me on this but I think in 2015 the district Garrard is scheduled to play in may look like....Boyle, Lex Cath, Western Hills and I think maybe Henry County.

IMO, I would think they could have gotten a better coach than Mark Scenters unless they think hosting a first round home playoff game is a successful season. Again, this is just MO!!!!! What will be funny in all this is watching Garrard County mess up another major coaching hire!!!!
