  1. This week was my first time seeing Goodin. I think he is at a different level than anyone else in the tournament. I'm not comparing him individually to any other player specifically, his skills are just off the charts.

That said, he seems either complacent or unmotivated at times. I was waiting for him to take this game over at some point, but it never happened. I think he certainly has the ability to do so if he desired. I was left disappointed that he didn't kick it in to high gear in the 4th.

Yes he is and I believe will have a excellent college career.

There were more calls in the 2nd half but seemed they called more on the perimeter than in the lane.

  2. They are in the weight room. They do return all of their skill, but lost a few blue collar guys including their leading tacklers, and a couple of very solid kids up front.

After this coming season it will be a rebuilding year in the sense, you will be replacing all your skill guys. I agree they lost some linemen and a good chunk of their defense.

The question is do a coach come in take the job for a year have success then leave, or is the coach committed to the long run. That also is the question AC adminstration must think about as well.

  3. Any word on possible coaching candidates for Adair County. Should have some talent returning on that squad.

What about athletes in this area. Any guys to keep an eye on for the 2016 campaign?

Of the mentioned teams Adair has the most offensive talent returning. Everyone is back off a very explosive offensive. The question now is since Gay moved on does anyone have those in the weightroom.

  4. By NO MEANS am I a TC supporter. Actually I graduated from a rival 5th region school, and work (different school than I graduated) at another 5th region school. Yes I tend to fallow basetball and football closely with area (5th region). I've fallowed TC the last 2 years because of their success and cheering on area teams on the statewide level, as I do with several area teams in that sport.

Why isn't the Cox kid coaching anymore?

  5. Huge performance by David Sloan last night. He couldn't miss. He's better than Quentin now and will certainly be a Mr. Basketball candidate next year, however the "Gatewood Complex" will keep him from getting any votes, just like what's happening to Quentin right now. Taylor County is in a mess right now and it's all due to the outside influences they have trying to run their athletic department.

they just repeated as region champs, speak on what mess they are in?

  6. Not to turn it into a football thread, but IMO Taylor's best years in football are yet to come. The freshman and Sophomore groups (to be) are loaded, a COULD have 2 D1 level football players.

I doubt there is any guy in the state that would be able to stop Goodin. IMO the best way to go at him would be to make him work on the defensive end. Maybe get him in foul trouble but let him know your not gonna back down. Sloan is another guy who can get to the basket at will and is a better shooter than Goodin.

  7. I think Tayloe county wins, since Gaines has been able to play TC is a different ball club as he gives them another weapon.

Didn't see the game this year, but I saw the Regional semi's last year and I thought NH plays into TC hands. With Goodin and Sloan it's almost impossbile to press and trap them. Although NH has some of the top athletes in the Bluegrass. Should be another great game. What a night to be at Nelson county High school 2 GREAT Games.

  8. Haywood and Graham are not in the same stratosphere. If Haywood were to go Rowan, he would struggle. It's different when you've been at a school 30+ years and continue to turn out successful teams. When you're returning to a school you coached at 30yrs ago, you're probably not going to fair to well. Belfry understands they're Belfry...do you think any group of parents would try to run off Haywood? No. Football is the life blood of that community. Dudley Hilton 60+, not having the best of times at Taylor Co. Tell me a coach that is 60+ And has started a new gig and been successful in this day and age...

Considering Taylor County was17-36 before Dudley came and he's 9-10 in the 1+ seasons he's been there I would say he's doing a very respectable job. If Dudley decides to stay within the next 3-4 years Taylor County will be a very good ball team.

  9. I still don't know what you are talking about. The OEA doesn't investigate someone because they are not a program changer or because they are over 60 years old. Like I said all of that is irrelevant. The OEA is the education world version of the IRS and they deal with legal matters for the Kentucky department of education. They do not investigate bad football coaches.

Excalty!!! If he didn't get the job done (Win/lose) fine, or even say he's an average coach at best. But to say the man has broken laws or done something illegal is opening up another can of worms.

  10. I had heard the guy from Somerset did indeed drive that every day, which is about 2 hours one way. I'm not sure about the situation with Davidson in 15, but I had heard that Middleton was in the building, not sure what he was doing though. I also seem to think that after he was fired, that he chose to stay at the school and just not coach.

I don't know what it would take to win at Caverna, but I'd really like for someone to be able to find out.

Middleton was in the building but he was an aide not a certfied teacher. I'm suprised Davidson didn't stay, or at least wait until he got another HC job before leaving.

Caverna much like 95% of the schools in the state need full support in order to be success. Hiring a coach and have him drive 2 hours one way to work isn't going to be successful. Not fielding a little league program isn't going to be successful. The Adminstration has to want a successful football program and has to operate as such. It will also take a coach to fully invest and be there to build from the ground up. That's a coach getting the little league together, building the middle school, and getting a weight program at the high school.

  11. Just sadly a difficult place to coach. It's one of the 6-8 smallest, football playing schools in the state.

Their principal, Brad Phipps, is a football guy. He was a long time assistant coach at a couple schools in his years.

They are actually one of the better paying districts in their 5th Region/I-65 area. Matter of fact, of the 5th region schools, Bardstown IND might be the only one better. Coaching stipend is average (I want to say 6500-7000 is the number).

...but, in terms of numbers; it's just a difficult place to coach.

Not sure how true but I also heard that they weren't able to give the 3 previous head coaches Full time teaching positions. Not only with football but the basketball team is working on it's 3rd coach in 3 seasons. The one guy had to drive from Somerset to Horse Cave daily. Also a problem with Caverna is the lack thereof a little league program. Thus, several kids are going to play at Barren, Hart, or Glasgow for little league and Caverna doesn't have a feeder system. Which is the biggest differnce between Caverna and Campbellsville is the little leasgue feeder program Campbellsville has.
