  1. "What year is this? Do we not have a black president? Is everything today still going to get blamed on what happened generations ago? How did whites get there? Surely their white privilege should have kept them out of that situation, right?" Didn't answer the question. Were they put their by black people? What does Obama have to do with anything? Did he specifically put in policies to screw white people over?
  2. What you just posted is a clear example of white privilege. It doesn't ignore other problems. It shows that a lot of people are in the situation they are are in because OTHERS put them there. Also, false on the claim that anyone can climb out out of poverty if they work hard. Did poor white people get denied a loan because they were white? Did poor white people get denied a place to live because they were white. Did white people in general get denied anything because of the color of their skin by black people. You simply act that it is no big deal that some people have a big head start over others in life. You say you lived a lower middle class neighborhood, there are black people living in very poor situations and the burden can be to great. So, to act as if because YOU didn't grow up the greatest situation, black people can achieve the same you did is silly. So in all due respect, you can take your silly world view and take them somewhere else.
  3. What? Not a theory. It's been pretty much proven to be true. Professors bring up the past to explain why things are the way they are. You think the moment that certain discriminations against black peoples stop, that it no longer had an effect on black people? It is not shaming, it is explaining. Now, I didn't have your professors, so I can't speak for what they said. Mine on the other hand, were very thought provoking and never made any one in the classroom feel guilt or shamed them for being white. They wanted to show all sides of history, good and bad. One of the most shocking lessons I was taught was about the impacts of segregation and red lining. My professor said this after the lesson , "So, next time you see black people in a poverty stricken area, don't think they are there because they are lazy and don't want to work, because if you think they want to live that way, you are sadly mistaken." That is not white guilt or shaming white students. So just because YOUR professors tried to guilt trip you, doesn't mean white privilege doesn't exist.
  4. White privilege isn't a theory. What you call white privilege being pushed, I call the truth being told. What would you prefer college professors to say? That white and black people were discriminated equally through out our nation's history, including today?
  5. No, it definitely doesn't shoot holes in his argument. You can keep choosing to hear what you want or you can actually try to get to the lesson he is trying to say. He said by definition black people can't be racist. He was alluding to this by webster. Racism: poor treatment of or violence against people because of their race. Now, look back at our country's history and compare white people to black people. Which one was treated worse? Now, I disagree with him on black people can't be racist in the sense black people can't be racist or be violent against other races. Just because I disagree with one part of what he said, doesn't take away from the whole message with what I agree with. What you are doing is a cop out.
  6. Once again, the point is missed because it is being construed through a political lense. Racism has no political party. It isn't conservative or liberal. The people who don't want to face the facts are the ones who ignore racist policies of the past and act like wait a minute I wasn't the one who put those laws in place, along with the politicians today, who have put policies in place and KNOW the negative impact it has on black people and do it anyway.
  7. Plato, I agree that ALL sides need to change to make progress, but it has become apparent to me that this nation was not ready for a black president. When policy makers try to help make a change in race relations, they are accused of making it worse. When Obama initiates a program like "My brother's keeper" this is the response and I'm not making this up... "Oh great, another gimmedat initiative. If you are serious about opening doors of opportunity, how about a "marry the mother of your children" initiative? That will do far more good than any summit handout." "That makes too much sense. Remember, the Lib goal is to destroy the black family, keep them poor, uneducated and democratic. Obama's Black Plantation is growing everyday." "Obama will go down in history as the biggest racial huckster America ever produced." "How about they help them selves first so we do not waste our tax dollars. May I suggest staying in school, doing homework, pull up their pants, and maybe don't break the law for starters. You can find plenty of successful 'minority men' that did just that. It is not a race problem, it is a culture problem." "America needs more unqualified Affirmative Action graduates...Hank Johnson, Obama, Jeh Johnson and so many others apparently haven't destroyed America quick enough..." "White children are now a minority. Shouldn't this translate to Whites receiving more aid than "people of color", since we are a rapidly-dwindling minority?Oh, wait, that's right. Only "people of color" (that is, anyone but Europeans and European-Americans) are allowed to look out for what's best for their people."
  8. No one is asking to for police to give up their rights. They are asking for them be held accountable when they screw up. Some and I would hope most are held accountable and some are not. You can criticise certain individuals without condemning police as a whole. It is very dangerous when a certain profession is above criticism, especially when the profession is the one with the slogan "To protect and serve."
  9. Talking vs doing MTN ref. I said policies put in place by black people that discriminates against white people. Now, what that "leader" said is downright sad and should not be condoned.
  10. Hellbird, you didn't get his point did you? When black people are racist, they are racist. When certain white people are racist, they change policy. Paul Mooney is 73 years old. When he grew up, those racist laws were there. You say people live in past, I say you can't confront it and see how it has affected the black community and put people in a hole many struggle to get out of. It isn't just slavery. It went from slavery to jim crow to redlining to police arresting black people at greater rates than white people when they BOTH commit crimes and receive harsher sentencing. Like Mr. Mooney said, "white people do, black people talk." Also, please show me in America where white people had laws put in place against them by black policy makers.
  11. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mh2_dZ9f1Yo I believe there is a little use of bad language in it. What do you guys make of this?
  12. CIA funnels drugs into poor US neighborhoods ? RT USA Blacks Were Targeted for CIA Cocaine - It Can Be Proven Honestly, it is not that big of a stretch that the CIA did this. They have done terrible things. Ever heard of the Tuskegee syphilis experiment? It wasn't the CIA, but it from a department of the government. Black people have been systematically screwed from "big brother" from the beginning. Slavery, Jim Crow laws, and red lining come to mind. So to act as if CIA wouldn't do such a thing or hasn't done such thing is not stretching reality.
  13. Ties in general don't bother me, but for it to happen this way... it does a little bit. As for the remark that this is how it feels like for soccer fans, not true at all. This is honestly what it felt like to be a football fan dating back to 60's before sudden death overtime was introduced in 1974. Obviously ties still happen to this day.
  14. Like i mentioned before, sources say different things. El Paso at the end of the day is a safe city. It is the notion that all these illegal immigrants are wrecking havoc on the city, which to me is laughable at best. I wouldn't mind some ocean front property right now.
  15. Sorry Mitch, you can deny this article, but there many more that are in alignment with this article. You can choose not to believe the Mexican government no more than any one chooses to believe in what our government says. At the end of the day, the "millions" that are coming here are grossly exaggerated. I also seriously doubt your friends from India came to United states to work the jobs that immigrants from south of the border have grown accustomed to work. I am not convinced that if all these immigrants left, that americans will come running to take them over.
  16. The figures i got were from a NY Times article in Sept 2013. It actually shows a surplus for Mexico. http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2013/09/22/world/americas/migration-to-mexico.html I am sure we will get figures at the end of 2014.
  17. Actually, millions are not coming here. The net migration from Mexico has been close to zero. If these people want to contribute and a lot of them do, I say lets get the most out of them.
  18. Nevertheless Mitch, not everyone in the planet wants to come to the US. I can understand certain parts of central and south america. I can certainly understand parts of Africa. The rest however could care less about moving to america and vice versa. Thats why i suggest making people legal here and making them pay taxes. If wealthy people want to leave, let them. I know a bunch of hard working people who work here and contribute.
  19. Needless to say Mitch Rapp, besides some obvious difference in opinion, i'm glad you and i share one very important thing. That none of our problems, whatever they may be, are not gonna get solved with the imbeciles and I mean all of them(republican or democrat) in D.C. I can assure you not everyone is flocking to america. The opposite is actually happening.
  20. Our budget has always been slashed after a drawdown. Im not saying jump them in line. Im saying MAKE everyone who wishes to stay here become a citizen and get something out of them. Also "our" enemies are not growing their budget because of them. They are getting their budget from us. History tends to repeat itself with the US and its "enemies".
  21. I was talking more along the lines that our defense budget is bigger than the next 10 or so countries combined. I have no problem going out on a limb and saying some of those programs in the defense budget are in fact worthless. You don't see an incentive to legalize these immigrants and/or tax them or anything? Especially since you and I can agree that they are not leaving.
  22. Officials credited law enforcement and residents working together in making El Paso the city with the lowest crime rate ranking of cities more than 500,000 in the annual City Crime Rankings by CQ Press. Different sources say different things, nevertheless El paso is a safe city. Law enforcement plays a huge part in how a city operates with its safety issues. The El Paso Police Department is not perfect, but they do damn good job. Im sorry to say to you Mitch Rapp, but no, these illegals wouldn't leave and go home to find work. That is a fantasy. People can try to blame obama on this, but george bush wasn't exactly great with illegal immigration either. Like the crime issue, many people say these immigrants pose financial threats to our country. I don't disagree that these immigrants rack up the bill, they however do not come close to to the unnecessary budget for our defense and other worthless programs ran by our country. Maybe if we didn't look down on good blue collar jobs that many kids today have been raised to believe are beneath them, the immigrants would struggle to find jobs and would think twice before crossing the border.
  23. I would encourage you to go to El Paso. The place of my birth and where i have gone back and forth to throughout my life. If i am not mistaken, El Paso is rated the safest city in the United States. It has been the only city in my life where i have never felt afraid to to go anywhere in a particular city. The illegals in El Paso are treated like any humans should be treated, like a human. They are given a chance by El Paso to be a model human being and to contribute to the city. Trust me, no one knows to be on their best behavior better than immigrants. The reason those communities you speak of are the way they are is because the cities allow it to be. Yes, i agree that people who come to america and try to go about things the right way should be taken care of the right away before illegal immigrants. What irks me about this situation is many people are trying to cast all the blame on illegals on why communities throughout the southwest are "bad". It is a silly notion that i have experienced to be be very untrue. There are many factors that i would put more emphasis on contributing to a bad community than illegal immigrants. I would start with people that are elected to public office and the constituents who voted them in...
