  1. and if that is so I am glad that's the way it should be..... however consistently in treads posted about Cordia transfers have made reference to the kids, their families situations and their motivation. Being black I have heard them all before not to mention I have read not ONE negative comment about any other transfers. IT IS WHAT IT IS..... you may not feel that way but I assure you there are those that do..... It's sad what's really going on. Enough said. And might I add that I am extremely grateful to those who are positive example and they have to date made this experience easier. There are those who have provided some serious life lessons. These KIDS and Coach Rhodes are strong and have presented themselves well, I am proud and pray they continue to do so.
  2. One better did the parent at Cordia follow the rule/requirements? the kid was ruled eligible.
  3. WOOOOWWWWW!!!!!! Don't know them or there situation and I agree wholeheartedly. What is there race???? AND A parent at Cordia don't deserve the same? or there situations don't warrant consideration?
  4. HORSES??????????? WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?????? is it the same as players/kids/students????:speechless:
  5. Simply stated: 1. Don't know any one associated with the KHSAA. 2. Do know that only there opinion matters whether good or bad, agree or disagree. 3. My comments are not for any program. 4. I don't find anything wrong with kids, parents, coaches, or whoever setting goals for the future and positioning themselves to accomplish them. 5. In my opinion, if Rhodes was white this thread would not be 7 pages… my opinion means nothing. 6. None, if any of these kids are ranked in the top 50 nationally excel the 8th grader Umhar. And maybe 1 in the Top 100 by a leading souring site (ESPN, Scout.com, Rivals) 7. Who I am and what I do has nothing to do with anything. (But if anyone really wants to know Inbox me and I will share.) 8. I pray that all the kids playing basketball accomplish their goals, go to college, get an education, and become successful. And to be honest, not just basketball players, but all students. I feel that the politics of the games have made them more about adults and not the kids. If kids are coming in and taking local kid's spots the issue is not with the kids that transferred. You get what you give and transfers should elevate, drive, motive, and increase determination at the end of the day. If the local kids work and desire to win (evident by their game), the transfers would be a moot point. So my advice would be to open the local gym and provide one on one skill training for the local kids and those that are serious and will be there daily and the others will drop off and lose interest. 9. Let the competition begin. Stop making excuses and let's see who will do as Combs.
  6. WOW don't be mad or disappointed in a parent just maybe there is a bigger picture. I'm sure most of these kids play summer elite ball and school bball might not be as important.
  7. Opinions are great it's the opinions implicated as facts that's the problems. It's the negative innuendos regarding kids, parents and one school. Then the answer is it's all schools but the comments are not the same for other schools. Well it KHSAA is the deciding body who are you and anyone else to say they don't get it right......???? At the end of the day wrong or right in your mind your opinion is fact and KHSAAA doesn't matter. WRONG. And that type of comment is what I'm talking about, you and others have convinced yourselves that Cordia is all wrong and maybe so but as KHSAA rules on these kids you still say they are wrong. REALLY. AND I speak to any school any player it doesn't matter. I think they should all be able to play I feel when it comes to sports and only certain sports the rules are harsh....i.e.. football and basketball..... no other sports get the criticism as the above. No other group of kids are penalized or the subject of rule changes.... Really it's a mindset and I understand that I just want you to understand that's what it is. When was the last big discussion about the tennis or swim transfer or the cheerleader who wants a scholarship for cheering. I'm just say.... It's not fair.
  8. Sorry then if that's the case your opinions really don't matter. CORDIA is the only school that captures the negative attentions. At the end of the day if the kid is ruled eligible then the opinions are wrong and in some cases slander.
  9. REALLY it has been implied in many comments..... I am BLACK and can identify a race card. AND That's my only issue...... these are KIDS not all bad.... not all dumb.... not all only concerned with sports.
  10. 1. No people don't but if a kid is ruled eligible then the preceptions is there are no violations or not enough to render ineligible.:sssh: 3. No really I don't care and I have been around basketball awhile and have known kid to move in and out of state for whatever reason. I just get tired of reading all the deaming of kids, coach and the program and not just on this site. It is sad and obvious as to the real problems. ALL I say is let those with authority do their jobs. And so down kids you don't know. your issue is not with Cordia it with those who make the decisions and that's where it should be addressed. Just from my seat it very frustrating and really abusive. Sorry. BUT CORDIA HAS NOT BEEN FOUND GUILTY OF ANYTHING EXCEPT THROUGH YOURS AND OTHERS EYES WHO BASH ON THE BLOGS IMPLYING THAT YOUR ACCUSATIONS ARE TURE, BUT THEY HAVE NOT MERIT SO STOP. It not true in all cases.
  11. I don't know whether I get upset or just think that people are unaware of how there comments can be perceived. I have read a lot of post and it is amazing how people without authority are quick to place judgment on Cordia, the Kids attending Cordia and even the community in some cases. Even when most of the team is ruled eligible there is still complaint. I am so glad systems are in place or we would be hung off of the opinion of one. Come on the system is working; kids can play now we mad cause of what????? It can't be recruitment if they are eligible. LET IT GO!!!! Cordia play Saturday chose to support or not. I truly hope that the community actions are not representative of the comments made by many of you or they might be scared or realized they are in a worst place than where they came. You are adults and how would you feel if your kids were in positions of many of these kids. HOW WOULD YOU AS A PARENT FEEL??????? I have seen many kids move to accomplish their goals and dreams? I know many parents who have said if I could do it over I would have moved my child? I'm sure your kids are all perfect and you helped them all to achieve there goals and dreams without moving them. How many of your kids could have gotten a better opportunity if you had sent them out of state or out of district? Or does the angry/ frustration stem from angry for not having thought of it first. All I am saying is it obvious many of you have no clue as to what you are talking about just making assumptions and running with them and feeding them to others; find the truth before making everyone guilty. IN THE END IT'S ALL GOD"s PLAN AND HIS WILL AND THAT's ALL THAT MATTERS. Please remember you are the adult let your actions and words reflect that you never know who you are influencing or who's watching.
  12. Wow that cannot be done without reviewing the applications and if the applications are in line then it is his or their job to approve it. BUT I will say be careful what you ask for.......!!!!!! A lot of programs may be affected.
  13. You are welcome. He does like it and most importantly he is not here to witness the sometimes really hard days his best friend and sister have. He has a twin here who is stronger and the dad thing does not bother him but it does with the son at Cordia. He has really done the things to be successful in life and that's what I want for him and all of my kids. I am grateful to the community who has made him and the other players feel welcome. Again we don't know the thoughts concerns these kids who are enduring away from family and or friends. And when it's all said and done they are KIDS just KIDS forced by circumstances, desire, dreams or home life to grow up before time. I am planning to bring Christmas to mine and the other Mississippi kids I can only imagine how hard it is. Ep. 1:11 HE WORKETH ALL THINGS AFTER HIS OWN WILL....... Be Bless and God's will be done.
  14. okay I will share my story: My son is a senior who transferred to Cordia this year I didn't know Coach Rhodes and from the internet search they had an average team and I had zero familiarity with any of the schools they played. But what they did have was a community where I know one family that I meet many years ago and have kept communications. My son transferred from Mississippi to Texas last year to be around his father and change of environment. However, his father didn't want the responsibility or the adjustment to his life. I didn't want him in our home town because of the Challenges to keep him out of the gang and crime environment. Our city rank #2 in homicide and many being young teen blacks and over nothing. He was assaulted by a school friend (???) while leaving a gym after playing pick up BB. (He was hit in the head from behind.) He is a honor student who plays basketball and have played since 5 yrs old he is not high caliber but he is good. He is and always has been an honor and gifted student with academic awards in math and chemistry. He attended an inner city school that is know for gang, drugs and crime activities not to mention low test scores although his were advanced and proficient. But as a basketball player you have to go to JPS schools for competition. I didn't want to being him back here. Meanwhile he had built up anger due to his father's denial and his sisters illness. In talking with my friend about the diagnosis of my daughter (also a junior star basketball player) with leukemia and her chemotherapy requirements. She suggest I send him to her so that he could continue to pursue his goals and could concentrate on academics and basketball because their is nothing else to do. I sent him for the summer and he liked it for the most part. In my house academics and sports are treated equally both are important my kids have been taught for day one you need academic and ______ (any other activity that could help you get a scholarship). Although It's not anyone's business but I am an educated black mother who works in academia at a University 1.5 hours from our home. I have 3 earned degrees and 2 professional certifications. I have worked hard to put my kids in a position to succeed in life; however life is not always as planned. I would love to have my son here but I much rather have him alive and in a position to obtain his goals. And I am ever grateful to my friend who allowed me the opportunity to be with my daughter an concentrate fully on her situation during this trying time. All I am saying is be open-minded you don't know what these kids have or are going through. I don't know them but I can rest assure that they want better and we did what we were suppose to and just maybe the other did as well. I don't know and it's not my concern. I know nothing other than what other have said on these forums about other school. I assume they did not wrong the transfers were cleared. The end.
  15. Ok but my only point is who and what gives us the right to decide that is what is happening. We don't know neither are we seeking to find the answers we chose to speculate and state innuendos with out facts. I personally don't know Coach Rhodes or his staff but I surely don't think he or any other coach would do anything to put their livelihood or careers in jeopardy. The states that are continuously named are state and cities high in crime New York, Mississippi and Texas. Again if I am recruiting I would surely pursue kids who are high caliber. Verbal Commit has Malik Hines listed as 2 star not on Rivals or ESPN listed but not ranked on scout.com. Cunningham is top in KY only not found on any of the Ranking services. And the same for the other kids non found on any Ranking services. Lack of knowledge is killing these forum with speculations. Seems as thought the appropriate action would be to hike down to the 14 region and meet the kid take to the Coach and see what brought them in you just might be surprised or told non of your business.:deadhorse:
  16. In essence, again I say I don't care nor am I worried about who has transferred and whether it is a legitimate transfer that is for KHSAA. I have not contradicted myself I questioned why the concern on most forums centered around the Cordia program? It's not our job. Out of curiosity were you complaining about Perry county transfers or Knotts County????? or is that Coach Rhodes at Cordia got too many. Come on what are the real issues? My statement questioned if there are concerns express about these other school (any with transfers) or is the issue with Cordia and or Coach Rhodes. Yes, there is implications to race based on comments from others (not those on BGP). JUST SAYING!!!!!! Again I ask what is the real problem when no ruling have been made? Since you have found the Cordia guilty as charged OOPS no charges....... Let's just let those who have been hired to do a job do it....... The comments and implications have made me a Cordia Fan upset. I feel that what is being done by those who have passed judgments without the information to do so is WRONG and WRONG in every sense of the word.... To end: Right is Right and Wrong is Wrong.... and unless KHSAA has said it null and void. LET's Play Ball. If these black families follow the rules and choose to move or send there kids to play for a Coach they feel can help them accomplish their goals or get a step closer GOOD LUCK..... Let see how smart they are have any been deem eligible or is there paperwork is held up???? What really????????
  17. I again say I agree with you however are you a part of the KHSAA who makes that decision? If not it not you job let the people are put in place to make decisions make them!!!! It doesn't matter what school if any I support. I'm not crying or complaining about anyone's transfers; neither am I complaining that school x got to 2 more transfers than school y. It's not our job. Out of curiosity were you complaining about Perry county transfers or Knotts County????? or is that Coach Rhodes at Cordia got to many. Come on what are the real issues? Again that's not your issue maybe the kids family had reason you don't know situations or circumstances. Just because it doesn't look right to you; makes it wrong. Let the system work whether you agree with the decisions or not. One thing we all know is that KHSAA has to rule the kids eligible in order for them to play. Therefore KHSAA we allow you to do your job. Good luck to all teams and all players I wish them all well and hope that all of them are eligible to play. This is HIGH SCHOOL and these kid are try to accomplish goals and get to college. I hate the politics of it all. IT's NEVER EQUAL.
  18. I understand however, I would say if fear is not the issue then let's allow the power to be to do their jobs. I don't know or care how many transfers there are if the people directly involved aren't making noise why are we. A rule being skirted is that possible it's broken or not and that is why the KHSAA is in place. The discussions are nice but the lines crosses when thoughts are spoken as facts. When kids are degraded, assumptions and speculations as to their backgrounds, family life and or character are made. And my only concern is that these are Kids and there actions are based on the decisions of an adult(s). And is there a level to sin. In this case no rules have been deemed broken yet. But it very obvious that many are hoping. At this point all the kid are KY products and are attending a KY school why not embrace them or should they be fearful? I don't care if Cordia or any other school entire roster is transfers as long as they have satisfied the requirements and are approved who am I to question it. I think it's exciting for the area and the 14th districts the level of play will increase overall and the budget will benefit people support winners. The possibility of a small school in the mountains being a contender or even discussed as one is great. Good Luck to the kids at Cordia I hope they win it all..... WOW what would happen then?
  19. My comment was general and based not only on comments to your article (of which I enjoyed) but comments made throughout the forums. I agree with you and appreciate your shedding of the basic facts.
  20. I have been reading the post and it is extremely amazing and to simply state it appears that many are scared of the possibility of Cordia having a good team. These are kids and we are speaking basketball (with the understanding that academics is a major part and priority). Frist for the sounds of it many of these players have upsize does that equate skill? I continuously hear of 7 or 8 D-1 players at what level of D-1 surely there is one? When speaking of players with High D-1 offer I only hear of 2 kids Hines and Cunningham. Come on folks. When I look at the so call ranking for the 14th region most have Cordia 3rd or 4th what are the real issues. These are Kids how many are national ranked by ESPN or Scout.com? so in essence why are you stressing. It is up to Rhodes and his staff to prepare the team. If they are hand picked why are there no high caliber top 40 players? Many of you have said you don't know the situations surrounding the players so to frankly state sit still and be quite until someone seeks to find out the story behind the players and stop speculating. And for those who believe they all come from poor dysfunctional homes. There are good black kids who have established goals for themselves and with the help of family, friends and or coaches are stepping out on faith to try and accomplish them in the end nothing happens by chance let God do as he will with these kids. Fear not, prepare and play hard. Hey I heard of all the schools getting players in and for the major city you have a nice pool of players for the rural city it not that easy but I guess that's fair too as long as you have the advantage. LET'S PLAY BALL I'M EXCITED.
  21. need to check out JJ Catchings at cordia high skill smooth and can score handle the ball and pass
  22. why does it matter it appears it only okay if it benefit your team????? These kids are suppose to be good and bring attention to an area that has received little in respect to basketball so am I to assume you are scared you can't win or what? What ever the reason let's play basketball and hopefully I can see a good game and better match up if your team is the best let the kids play and mind our own business.
  23. Tell me why is it fishy when a school invest in a coach with the history of Rhodes could it not be that some of the parents are finding him. And wow we claim to want good Basketball and these kids will be KY products upon graduation where ever they go to college the school will always list a KY school. So stop the talk. Every coach want to win and build programs and if Coach Rhodes can take the Cordia Team to a new level then God Bless Him and if any of the Kids challenge other players by making them play harder guard hard score better then in the big picture everyone wins. Hey did anyone see the team of 5 play that tried to come back for a big win? How was the play? other than Malik Hines from Mississippi where there any other standouts?
