  1. The All A in Region 1 seems anti-climactic this year without Heath and Reidland being involved. Especially Heath as they have been a serious contender and winner for years now. St Mary is the overwhelming favorite for sure. Hubert is really good and they surround him with good shooters. Tough to beat by anyone.
  2. I haven't been able to figure Ballard out. I kind of thought they would be better than expected before the season but they have had some bad losses. Maybe they are getting it together. On the other hand Murray seemed like they were beginning to hit their stride before this. Most likely answer is they are 16 and 17 years old.
  3. Questions to be answered. Do they all lock up 1 seeds in their District tournaments and if so which team gets put on the other side of the Regional bracket and only has to beat one of the others. Also can Marshall or St Mary push their way into contention. Lots of huge Region 1 games remaining this year.
  4. It is really hard to imagine how this game was that close. Calloway's size should have been a serious problem for a Mayfield team that has been handled by other Region 1 powers.
  5. St. Mary is probably the biggest All A favorite in recent memory in Region 1. Maybe Murray or Mayfield could give a test but no one else.
  6. Huge road win for McCracken. Region 1 seems to be a 3 team horse race and should be very exciting.
  7. I can't wait to watch Holmes play McCracken down here in McCracken's Hoopfest. Really interested to see them and see how they compare to other western Kentucky teams.
  8. Computer rankings can be a decent guide to the strength of teams. But no rankings done by anyone are gospel. I will almost guarantee you that most that vote in AP poll never lay their eyes on far western Kentucky teams. At least a computer can be objective a little. Graves is ranked 12th in Maxpreps but doesn't get a whiff in the human polls. My feeling is that a lot of the so-called top 25 teams don't want to tangle with that team right now. The computer picks it up. I kind of think a collection of computer and human rankings can give a pretty clear picture.
  9. Region 1 actually uses this first Litkenhous to seed it's All A tournament. Always have been some strange seedings for that tournament. Too small a sample.
  10. Correct. The number one seed in the tournament will be huge.

  12. But over time the theory would be that stuff like that evens out.
  13. Just like small sample size causes weird results this statement is also a fallacy. Almost anything can happen in a one game sample. And it is entirely possible for a better team to lose to a worse team by 18 on a given night. Not saying that is the case here but computer rankings look at the whole and as the year goes by and the sample size grows they begin to give a more accurate picture.
  14. I think the problem with Cantrall and Litkenhous is they only consider Kentucky games. Maxpreps factors all games and they are definitely more accurate in Region 1. Top 6 would be Graves, Calloway, McCracken, Marshall, St Mary, Tilghman. Not sure you can argue too much with that. My guess is other regions would be similar.
  15. I'm not sure anyone would want to play Graves in 1st round of state tourney. They are really good. Performed very well in Las Vegas tournament over Christmas.
