Final from Estill County. Lions win 2A section 6. Spurlock with 33 for Boyd. Powell led 73-72 under a minute yo go and Spurlock hit a 3 to put the Lions up 75-73.

1. Hazard (7-6): The Bulldogs took it on the chin last week. They started off the week with a win in Florida but then lost two straight to end the Florida tournament at Fernandia Beach. The Bulldogs returned home for a short time before heading to Winchester to take on George Rogers Clark, one of the top teams in the state, in the Tim Short Automotive Classic. It was a trip the Bulldogs hope to forget as they were crushed by the Cardinals 78-43. Upcoming Games: 14th Region All "A" Classic. 2) Knott County Central (9-3) : After the loss to Knoxville Halls last Saturday, the Patriots bounced back and picked up two straight road wins, defeating Cocoa FL 51-38 and Morristown West Hamblen TN 58-51. Upcoming Games: Monday vs. Wolfe County (14th Region All "A" Classic). 3) Powell County (5-4): The Pirates picked up three big wins this past week, defeating St. Joseph Catholic WV 83-80, Wolfe County 104-63 and Bath County 91-33. Upcoming Games: Monday at Estill County (2A Tournament), Friday vs. Estill County. 4) Perry County Central (5-6): Perry County Central participated in the Smoky Mountain Christmas Classic, where they went 1-2. They lost to Fulton (Knoxville) TN 77-53 then defeated West Hall GA 77-50 before falling to Lumpkin County GA 72-64. The Commodores returned home to host Cordia. The Commodores wouldn't have any issues out of the Lions as they would cruise past the Lions 59-19. Upcoming Games: Monday at Estill County (2A tournament), Friday vs. Estill County. 5) Letcher County Central (8-4): The Cougars picked up two out of three wins last week, defeating both Bayside Academy AL 70-44 and Breathitt county 63-45. The Cougars fell to Highlands 76-54. Upcoming Games: Monday vs. Magoffin County, Thursday vs. Acts VA, Saturday at Southwestern. 6) Breathitt County (7-5): The Bobcats went 1-1 this past week, defeating Iroquois 70-53. They would fall to region foe, Letcher County Central 63-45. Upcoming Games: 14th Region All "A" Classic. 7) Wolfe County (7-4): The Wolves went 1-1 last week, getting blistered, absolutely blistered by Powell County 104-63. The Wolves would bounce back and defeat Frankfort in an absolute thriller, 55-54. Upcoming Games: Monday at Knott County Central (14th Region All "A" Classic). 8 ) Leslie County (4-6):The Eagles dropped two games last week, Franklin-Simpson 63-43 and Hopkins County Central 74-66. Eagles losing streak has reached 3 straight. Upcoming Games: Monday vs. Buckhorn (14th Region All "A" Classic). 9) Estill County (5-6): The Engineers went 1-1 last week, falling to Clay County 71-34 in the final game of the Railroad Classic. The Engineers would bounce back and pick up a big district win, defeating Owsley County 59-52. Upcoming Games: Monday vs. Powell County (2A Tournament), Friday at Powell County. 10) Owsley County (5-5): Owsley lost a hard fought district game to Estill County, falling to the Engineers 59-52. #1 Hazard fell to 15th Region's Shelby Valley 57-49 in the Pikeville Invitational Tournament. Hazard would bounce back and defeat Owsley County 52-39 in what was a tremendous game before the Bulldogs pulled away late. While Kentucky is dealing with cold weather, the Bulldogs will remain warm and sunshine for the next three days as they are in Florida for a holiday tournament at Fernandina Beach Florida. Powell County dropped both games at the Jeremy Bartley Winter Classic at Somerset, falling to Pulaski County 73-62 and Somerset 78-77 in overtime. The Pirates will take on St. Joseph Catholic WV in Kaydence Memorial Tournament at Tug Valley WV. Perry County Central, who dropped one district game to crosstown rival, Hazard, a week before, picked up a district win over Leslie County last week, defeating the Eagles 65-48. Former Eagle, Jayden Hacker, had 12 points against his old team. The Cougars of Letcher County Central are clicking on all cylinders. They picked up two big wins this past week, defeating both June Buchanan 73-38 and Sand Rock Alabama 72-49 in Freeport Florida. The Cougars are 6-1 in they're last 7 games. Knott County Central dropped they're only game this week, falling to Knoxville Halls (Knoxville) Tennessee 60-57 at Atlantic. Wolfe County picked up a big win over Mason County 56-47 in the dribble drive challenge at South Laurel. Breathitt County picked up a big win over Betsy Layne on Tuesday 78-72, however, the Railroad classic at Estill County hasn't been too kind to the Bobcats as they dropped both games they've played in the Estill County tournament, falling to Dixie Heights 63-48 and Bourbon County 75-66. 1.
