  1. I really want Estill to make some noise this year but they better show up on Wednesday or Breathitt will take them to the woodshed
  2. They are the hottest team coming into the regional tournament IMO. They lost to Perry once this season but it was at Perry.
  3. Hazard Breathitt Knott Powell Hazard Knott Hazard
  4. Hazard (26-5): 54th District Winner and Region favorite. The Bulldogs have rolled over just about every team in the region while on they're way to a 21-1 region record. They're lone region loss came against Breathitt County 73-70 in the 14th Region All "A" Classic. Breathitt County (18-11): The Bobcats are not the same Bobcats as last season but they are still the team to beat in the regional tournament. The Bobcats come in at 2-2 in they're final 4 games with a district championship win over Wolfe County 80-72. Knott County Central (23-8): The Patriots are one of the top 3 teams in the region and have hung right with the top two all season long. Can this finally be the year that the Patriots cut the nets down and take the hardware back to Hindman? That trip from Stanton is an awful long ways. Estill County (21-10): The Engineers accomplished another rare feat with a 20-win season. Those are hard to come by in Irvine but Coach Hall has managed to do that two years in a row. The Engineers come in as 56th district runner-up but have been one of the hottest teams coming into the regional tournament, winning 5 of they're final 7 games. Letcher County Central (16-12): The Cougars struggled most of the season but came on strong towards the end, winning 5 in a row, before they're district championship loss to Knott County Central. . Powell County (17-14): You wouldn't think it but Powell County is actually the hottest team heading into the regional tournament, winning 5 of they're final 6 games. The loss during that stretch came to Morgan County 88-78, one of the top teams in the 16th region. Perry County Central (19-13): Most of Perry's losses came in the beginning of the year. They have actually came on good towards the end of the season, winning 3 of they're final 4 games. They're 12-7 since the new year rang in. Wolfe County (12-15): The Wolves have struggled greatly this season. They have actually only won 6 games since the new year rang in and they have lost 6 of they're final 8 games. Host School: Powell County Dates: March, 6-7-9-11 First team listed is home team. Wednesday March 6th: 6 PM - Hazard vs. Letcher County Central -- Hazard won both regular season games 48-35 and 62-43. 8 PM - Breathitt County vs. Estill County -- The Engineers just defeated Breathitt County last Friday, winning 74-71. Thursday March 7th: 6 PM - Knott County Central vs. Wolfe County -- Knott County Central won the only regular season game 72-56. 8 PM - Powell County vs. Perry County Central -- Perry County Central won the only regular season game, 80-60 but the Pirates are red hot and always play good on they're own home court. Saturday March 9th: 1 PM - Semi-Final #1 3 PM - Semi-Final #2 Monday March 11th: 7 PM - Championship Final Rankings: 1) Hazard (26-5) 2) Knott County Central (23-8) 3) Breathitt County (18-11) 4) Powell County (17-14) 5) Estill County (21-10) 6) Perry County Central (19-13) 7) Letcher County Central (16-12) 8 ) Wolfe County (12-15)
  5. Hazard in the 14th and it shouldn't even be close. I'm pulling for the Engineers to pull off some big time upsets but if they don't win then give me Hazard. Don't let me down Big Al (IF Estill doesn't win the whole thing).
  6. 53rd District: Host: Knott County Central High School Dates: Feb. 27-29 Championship Feb. 29th 7:30 PM Feb. 27th 6 PM - Cordia (4) at Knott County Central (1) 8 PM - Letcher County Central (2) vs. Jenkins (3) Knott County Central finishes the regular season at 6-1 in the district and they have had no issues cruising past Cordia in both regular season games, winning 74-33 (at KCC) and 84-36 (at Cordia). The Patriots have played Letcher County Central three times this year, winning 2/3 from the Cougars with every game being within 3 points. Letcher County Central finishes the regular season at 5-2 in district and have no issues with Jenkins, cruising past the Cavaliers with ease, 83-61 (at LCC) and 64-50 (at Jenkins). This could have the potential to be a big time upset, especially if Jenkins comes to play and Letcher Central over looks them. 54th District: Host: Leslie County High School Dates: Feb. 27-29 Champ. Feb. 29th 7 PM Feb. 27th 6 PM - (1) Hazard vs. (4) Buckhorn 8 PM - (2) Perry County Central at (3) Leslie County The top team in the region, Hazard hasn't had really any issues with Buckhorn this season, winning both regular season games 63-27 and 67-38. Perry County Central has won both regular season games against Leslie County, 68-54 and 68-33. They've also won 2 straight and 3 of they're last 4 games headed into post season play. 55th District: Host: Jackson City Dates: Feb. 27-29 Championship Feb. 29th 7 PM Feb. 27th 7 PM - (2) Wolfe County at (3) Jackson City Feb. 29th 7 PM - (1) Breathitt County vs. Wolfe County/Jackson City Winner - Championship The Bobcats have already punched they're ticket to the 14th region tournament and they haven't had to play a district tournament game yet, due to a three-team district. Breathitt County ends the regular season 4-0 in district play. The only close game they had in the district was a 60-58 win over Wolfe County, the other game with Wolfe was a complete blowout by Breathitt, winning 83-64. The Wolves defeated Jackson City both times during the regular season, winning 62-52 and 66-51 but the Wolves are struggling bad, they have only won 1 of they're final 6 games. 56th District: Host: Powell County High School Dates: Feb. 27-29 Championship Feb. 29th 7 PM Feb. 27th 6 PM - (1) Powell County vs. (4) Owsley County The Pirates end the regular season at 5-1 in district play and have defeated Owsley County both times this season, one was an extremely close game with the Pirates winning 62-53 and then the Pirates in the second game wouldn't have any issues, winning 77-55. 8 PM - (2) Estill County vs. (3) Lee County The Engineers wouldn't have any issues out of the Bobcats this season, winning both games 76-61 and 74-54. Estill seems to be one of the hottest teams coming into post season play having won 4 of they're final 5 games and 7 of they're final 9. Team Rankings: 1) Hazard 24-5 -- Most of Hazard's losses have came within the past few weeks, in fact they have lost 3 of they're 5 games within two weeks. 2) Knott County Central 21-8 -- The Patriots are 3-3 in they're final 6 games. 3) Estill County 20-9 -- One of the hottest teams coming into post season play. The Engineers have won 7 of they're final 9 games including two big wins over Perry County Central and Breathitt County. 4) Breathitt County 17-11 -- Bobcats are 3-3 in they're final 6 games including ending the season 1-2. 5) Perry County Central 18-12 -- Have won two straight and 3 of they're final 4 games. 6) Letcher County Central 15-11 -- The Cougars are playing some good ball as well, winning 5 of they're final 6 games. 7) Powell County 15-14 -- Pirates are playing some decent ball at the right time, having won 6 of they're final 9 games. 8 ) Wolfe County 11-14 --The Wolves have lost 5 of they're final 6 games. 9) Buckhorn 8-22 - The Wildcats have dropped 6 straight games. 10) Leslie County 15-14 -- The Eagles picked up two wins this past week but they are 2-4 in they're final 6 games. 11) Jenkins 17-13 - It's good to see Jenkins back in the 14th region and they've had a good season but most of they're wins have came against out of state opponents. 12) Jackson City 7-18 -- The Tigers are on a roll, winning 6 of they're final 7 games. 13) Owsley County 9-21 -- Owls have dropped 9 of they're final 12 games. 14) Lee County 8-21 -- The Bobcats are struggling super bad right now, in fact they have only won 2 games since 2024 begin. They have lost 14 of they're final 16 games. 15) Cordia 3-27
  7. If Estill can put together a complete game like they did against Madison Central and the second half against Breathitt County, no one in this region will wanna see them but they have to play like that for a complete game for three days
  8. Hazard is the best team in the region and I don’t think it’s close.
  9. Going by RPI. Estill has 2 wins against the top 4 teams in the Region.
  10. Final from Irvine. Breathitt dominated the first half and was up 45-31 at halftime. Complete opposite in the second which was all Engineers. Sperry had a chance to tie the game with 2 FT’s with 26 seconds to go and missed them both. Bellamy and Gross was Breathitt’s best players tonight.
  11. Final from Berea. Berea played really well. Estill left a lot of points at the free throw line as well on the 3 pt line.
  12. 1) Hazard (24-4): Previous Rank: 1 Hazard picked up two wins last week with one being a district win over Cordia 69-19 and a huge region win over #2 Breathitt County 77-58. Our committee and I have full confidence that Coach Moore will lead our Engineer football program forward while honoring the rich tradition of Estill County football.” Coach Moore said, “I’m humbled and deeply honored to accept the Head Football Coach position at Estill County High School. 14. I’m tinkled pink about this hire. I think Estill made the right decision.
  15. Former Engineer great Austin Moore has been named the new head football coach at Estill County.
  16. Final from Irvine. Estill led by as many as 23. Perry never led. Estill was 7-18 FT in the 3Q. Perry is a good team and has some good shooters especially Woods. Gonna be a hard out for anyone in the region tournament.
