  1. I may be mistaken but I think that Ginn was the only WV player on that list. Gregg is also another deserving candidate.
  2. Congrats to both girls on strong seasons. I know there will only be good things to come for them in the future.
  3. Congrats on a very nice season. Best of luck in the coming seasons.
  4. Congratulations on a good season. Hope to get to watch them again next year.
  5. Congratulations to Hannah! Very good player and I am not surprised by this offer. This only goes to prove my former point about her,nor any of her teammates, being voted to the 8th Region team. It just further puts a black eye on the 8th region coaches(especially those in Gallatins district) and the voting. I'm pretty sure that no one else on that list has recieved a D-1 offer of this sort, if any. Just saying...
  6. Congratulations to the girls. They are very nice players!
  7. It is the committment of the coach that the players and parents seem to question. They seem to feel as if she does the bare minimum to recieve that paycheck. The players want at least a little bit of effort on her part. It is all of the players who feel this way, not just a few. As stated before, they want to be coached. I have gotten to see this coaching firsthand on a close up basis for many years and know firsthand that she has been offered help on teaching her kids to pitch, hitting instruction, and base running from qualified people who know how to play the game and have told them all that she basically didnt need the help. This coming when she couldn't win a game. I do understand that maybe other coaches who don't play Gallatin may question this forum. As I stated before though, you would have to see it to believe it. If she wants to continue to coach this team, she needs to get some coaching instruction or if it is a money matter, just go scout other teams and coaches. To remain there as a coach, she should have to up her game. As you have seen, there haven't been many of the 'ole GC faithful defending her have they?
  8. I don't think Gallatin underacheived at all. The have had a good season. I think you misunderstand my previous complaints. Nobody has mentioned that they think Gallatin should have won more games, but I have spoken to a bunch of the parents and have actually witnessed with my own eyes the absolute joke of what is called practice. More than one player has told me that they took defense and infield and outfield practice a total of three or four times ALL SEASON, and never, ever went over bunt defense. Practice either amounted to standing around twiddling thumbs while waiting for the "practice pitcher" to get the ball near the plate so it could be hit, or they would divide up into two teams and scrimmage the whole practice. I have a feeling that you might be a coach, and I bet if you watched them practice, you would be scratching your head in amazement wondering how they won any games. There is a reason why Gallatin won 2 or 3 games a year for many years. The good players would quit because they did not want to be part of the circus.
  9. While I agree with almost every point you have made,my original post said that I thought she should resign for the sake of the girls, though there are those who believe she should be fired. I do disagree with the fact that there is no one in the system who would want the job because I have talked to some GC employees who ARE "homegrown" and would LOVE to have the job, though they are aware the Coach seems to have a lifetime contract. They are ambitious, competitive, and would not be too full of themselves to ask for help if they needed it. Gallatins parents should fight for their girls and get them the respect they are deserving of. If they don't then shame on them for allowing the administration to fail them.
  10. After reading your post I decided to do some homework and check out Gallatins previous season records. I am even more amazed than I first thought. Up to 2010 when this group of girls would have started playing as a group and had what looks to be the first winning season ever, Gallatin had only 17 wins and 87 losses in 8 years. What is more troubling is that 1 season there were only 6 season games played total! The most being 18 played in '07. How was that never brought up to be a title 9 issue considering the baseball team played a whole lot more games. I could not find records for '99-'01. Since posting on this thread, I have heard privately from many BGP members who are more familiar with the program than I and have been told that there have been many complaints throughout the years and feel they have just been told what they wanted to hear and nothing is ever done in the longterm about the situation. It would kind of make someone look pretty silly to complain about the situation with all of their team accomplishments to people who dont know the game and seem to be content with what is going on because it does not involve their kids. While I completely agree that academics should come first and foremost in every school system, I understand that no one had asked in their complaints for her to be terminated in her teaching job. I do understand what was said about Dorothy Perkins having some losing seasons in her coaching career and that having some talent can also help any coach win games, but, there has also been plenty of talent who has left the program throughout the years. These kids play with heart and want to be coached, just watch them play. I have seen this scenario play out when my daughter played softball in high school and I hate to see any kids have to go through it because it is truly miserable for all involved.I think there can be lots of made excuses but none can seem to refute the facts.
  11. She seems to be a very nice person and I'm sure that she is good to the girls but that does not a good coach make. I am dumbfounded that based on the caliber of players on that team that none of the parents have complained to the administration. I'm sure there are many qualified coaches who would love to take over that program considering gallatin has a couple more really good years ahead of them. I have a feeling that if the Superintendent and the Principals kids would have had a coach of this capacity, that would not have lasted long!I'm sorry, but I feel bad for the parents and the players especially who have to deal with this year after year. That would not be tolerated anywhere else I assure you.
  12. Congrats to both teams on a great season. Good Luck to the Colonels!
  13. Maybe you should go back and re-read my post because you misquoted me. This is my opinion and be as it may,I am allowed to have one just as you are allowed yours. To think that this is only the opinion of one though would be foolish, as the points I mentioned have been the conversation of many since this list came out. I do apologize though if I hit a little too close to home for some and stepped on some toes.
  14. No bashing here, especially the players. I congratulate them all. The subject of this thread was how Gallatin had 0 players and Walton had only 1 make the team. I responded with honest answers about that, where Gallatins coach is concerned. I only said the things that everyone else whispers about. The system, while being a good one, did not pick all the right players as you said.
  15. You are correct in the fact that the 8th Region coaches had enough respect for John to vote him Coach of the year. The bias toward the Walton softball program is probably more related to the percieved notion that Walton benifits from transfers. You are also correct in assuming the 29th and 30th district coaches probably have little to no respect for the small school programs. But I still think the 31st district coaches have little to no respect for Gallatins softball program, and possibly by keeping GC players voted low or not at all to help ensure their own would make it. If your own district coaches will not vote for you, the others probably wont either.
  16. What I have to say may not be so nice, but the truth is the truth! Throughout the years I have seen all the teams in this region play and have gotten to know alot of the coaches, players and parents from each county. That being said, I think Gallatins girls deserve some respect here. But...Gallatins coach did her players no favors by nominating all 4 girls. You have to have the guts to nominate the best 1 or 2 in order for your girls to have a chance. The Dossett girl who plays 3rd is by far the best 3rd baseman and one of the very best players in the region, and I have seen them all. I have been hearing from coaches that she was voted #1 by some out of district coaches which only goes to verify what Far Beyond Driven had to say about being "punked" by your own district coaches. You are exactly right. If they would have voted her anywhere close to where she should have been voted, there is no question she would be high on that list. You could also have chosen any of the other 3 to nominate as well. The fact that no one in the region has any respect for Coach Edmondson plays a factor as well. Some coaches will not vote those players because of jealousy and some of the larger schools will not vote them because they dont believe that those players from an "A" school would be able to play for their teams.Little do they realize that in many cases, it would be exactly the opposite, in all reality. Coaches have been very upset that they have been beaten by her because, lets face it friends, it is not from her coaching that she has had a few winning seasons. She has been riding the coattails of her players that have made this team successful because of their travel ball experiences. The best thing she could do for her team is to resign and let someone take over the program who will want to put in the time to make this team even better. I have talked to many of the girls and parents from that program and I have been told that the girls have been very upset with less than rec. league practices and the lack of coaching knowledge, though she seems to stay out of their way. I have also heard through the grapevine that 2 of the best players from that team will not be returning next season if she stays as coach. Honestly, I am not sure how she has not been fired before now but the success that her team has had on their own, seems to be reinforcing in her mind that what she is, or is not, doing is working. It would be a shame to see this program go back to what it was before this group of girls who seem to have worked very hard on their own time. Now... I believe that Ginn should have been POY and the fact that Thacker did not make this team is unfathomable as well. She is one of the very best pitchers in this region, no question. Just the fact that Walton has been so successful and their strength of schedule should give them the 3. The fact that alot of coaches dont like Coach Anderson seems to make it a little easier for coaches to blackball his players. Its not right, but it happens! It befuddles me how Owen Co., who was beaten multiple times by both teams, had 2 players make the team with maybe only the pitcher deserving to be somewhere low on the list. Carroll, as said before, had a terible record and was awarded a player that should be below many, if on the list at all. As I have seen, seems the majority of players were pitchers, one of who NEVER bats and some that just arent that deserving compared to the players you had to choose from. So, I agree. In Northern Kentucky, people dont know softball and the coaches have just reinforced this thought by compiling this list.
