Not sure. Was bleeding around eye and heard he also had a scratched cornea (or something like that). Unfortunately for Mercer the district is at East this year.

Jordan Duncan. Nothing intentional by East but he was hurt nonetheless.

Final from East was 90-76. It was a 4 point game with 90 seconds left. Sadly, the officials dictated the outcome from there. Mercer got a rebound and the ref called a foul on Mercer. IMO was the wrong call but, regardless, a Mercer player was hurt and the coach went on the floor to check on him and was assessed a T. Then they called another T. Ended up as an 8 point swing to East. Game over. Hard fought game by both teams. Teams split in the regular season. They will play again in the first round of the district.

Final from Harrodsburg. Mercer 92-62.

Agreed. This is a team that was within 8 points of both Montgomery and Male in the fourth quarter of each those games - two top 20 teams. Also led Louisville Central (who lost to Ballard by 1 last week and beat Male earlier) by 6 points with 5 left only to lose a close one. Mercer has 3 kids averaging double figures and at least 3 more that can get there any given night. When all are playing well, and they limit TO's, they can be very good. On the other hand, they have 2 losses since Christmas that show the inconsistency you are talking about.

It was a fun one to watch. Mercer jumped out to 16-0 lead but ended up with 2 starters on the bench with 2 fouls for most of the first half. Anderson dominated during that time as they went on a 35-20 run. Second half saw both teams make big play after big play. Hostile environment for sure!

1420 AM is the Harrodsburg station and they generally do cover the home games. As far as on the net, I doubt it.

Looking at it, you are right. Very tough. And they lost a lot from last year. It will be an intersting year around here. We (Mercer) had a good win to open the season but have a very tough one on the road at N Oldham tonight.

That's a tough game for BC to open up with.

Mercer looks much better than anticipated based on what I've seen this summer. They are missing 2 full time starters from last year and 2 other kids that started at times last year (kids out due to travel baseball, injury, work, etc). Despite those absences, team started playing well at team camp 2 weeks ago. Last week played West Jess and competed well though scores were reset each quarter (??). West was missing their normal PG (not Fayne). Next day at East Jess, beat Somerset by 20 and lost by 6 to East the second game after leading the whole game. Was told neither of those teams were missing any starters. Mercer has a lot to prove when the season rolls around but appears to at least have the potential to surprise and compete well in its district - and Ive always thought they were still a year away from doing that. We shall see. Key will be consistency.

Hoop Dreams 14U Went 2-1 in Under Armour tourney in Pittsburgh. Beat a NJ team fieat game. Did not play well second game and lost to a good team. Won today. Beat a really good team by a large margin. 68-40 win over Team Adidas out of Pittsburgh. Now on to King James in Akron next weekend. Will have big kid back for that one. HUGE factor.

Watched the Harrison brothers at the Under Armour Pittsburgh tourney today. PG is number 1 prospect and his brother is #7. Coach Cal and Bill Self up here to watch them. However, didn't see them at the team's 12:40 game but did see Jay Wright and a ton of other coaches. They play for the Houston Defenders, the #2 rated 17U team in nation. LEGIT!!! And Hoop Dreams 14U bear a New Jersey team in our first game. Play team Lima tonight.

That loss knocked us down to silver bracket. We lost in championship of silver bracket by 5 to CP3 All Stars (Chris Paul's program). Play in Under Armour Jam Fest in Pittsburgh this weekend. Team looks good.
