  1. Three things i take away from this list: 1) Floyd is not a top corner; he may have top talent but its not playing out very well 2) Is Dixie that good? they have 6 people out of top 26...more than HHS? 3) Where are Cov Cath players (2)?? Didnt they trounce Dixie?

I think the RB at Cooper was more impressive than Powell...at least vs Ryle. Also, if there is debate about this Beechwood player not being one of the top WR in NKY, how about Arnwine from Ryle which has 500 receiving yards or so and has about 6 or 7 TD's. Just throwing that name out there...

If he has 500 yards rec. and 7 TDs he needs to be in the top 26. Then we are back to the age old question are numbers king or ability??

  2. Lets try this all over now.

    Offense:

    QB- Hodge/ HHS

    RB- Powell/ SK

    RB- England/ Ryle

    WR- Winkler/ SK

    WR- Slusher/ Beechwood

    WR- Veneman/ HHS

    OL'men

    Ross/ Ryle

    Watson/ Cooper

    Murrer/ Cov. Cath

    Olmstead/ SK

    Johnson/ Dixie

    Griffith/ Campbell Co.

    TE- Hedger/ Dixie

    K- Doughterty/ HHS

    Defense:

    CB- Harrison/ Dixie

    CB- Floyd/ Boone County

    S- Abner/ HHS

    S- Zajack/ Dixie

    LB- Deaton/ SK

    LB- Pitzer/ Cov. Cath.

    LB- Woolf/ Ryle

    LB- Owens/ Dixie

    DL'men

    Johnson/ Newport

    Johnson/ Dixie

    Machlitt/ Dixie

    Mueller/ Marksberry/ SK

Hedger is going at TE. He is one of the most complete TEs in the state and will be playing on Saturdays for a D-1 school as a TE.

  3. Having seen Mr. Hedger play, he is going to play tackle in college, no doubt, do you think he will be red-shirted in his first year at AP, is it?, to get bigger?

If he plays tackle he needs to gain 70 pounds. I know they like him at TE. Coach Cannon wants him at 250. He pick AP because they sold him the idea of playing TE. They like the 2nd level blocking and use the TE much like Dixie. Fits into the offense. Now what happens in the next 4 5 years i don't know.

  4. That is what I said.

The size and speed are 99% of what D-1 schools are looking for first and foremost

This is why they look at that first and foremost. They cant go off of film only. What if the kid plays bad competition? What if a HS WR is very fast tall but his team runs 90% of the time? On the filp side you have a kid who is shorter slower but has 100 rec. at the end of the year. Is he better?

  5. I'm saying of a kid doesn't go to camps etc he won't get noticed period. Then ones who may attend camps etc but don't have D-1 size will be overlooked by D-1 schools all the time even if they are better players than the ones getting D-1 offers.

    Happens all the time.

I will say this. If you dont meet the height weight they are looking for at a position they dont care how good you are. A 6'1 190 TE will never get an offer as a TE. Now I do think they offer the top players in the state with the size/speed to play at that level. All I was was saying is you dont just show up at a camp as a big guy and get an offer.

  6. Anyone who thinks that D-1 players are always the best at their positions are being naive.

D-1 looks at size #1 and speed etc.

Just because someone is going D-1 does not always mean he is the best in the area at that position. There are plenty of kids who don't attend camps etc and will never get noticed because of that yet they are among the best at their positions etc.

Wont get noticed beacuse of size/speed or are you saying kids are D-1 they just dont get noticed???

  7. OK, but getting offers doesn't mean he's the best TE. There will be some players in the state of KY that get offers because of there size, and there size only. I think Hedger is a nice player, but just because you get an offer or signed with a school, doesn't make you the best at your position. I'd agree he's probable the best TE in NKY. Relax.

At camps hedger wasn't the only 6'5 230lb TE that showed up. In fact most are that size. Kids from all over the U.S. So it's more than size only. when you compete vs 15 20 TEs that are your size.

  8. He's certainly the biggest name, and will be playing at the next level. But this year, the tight ends are certainly not well publicized.

Hedger 1 of only 3 TEs in the state to get offers.

Sam Letton, TE - Lexington Catholic

    (Kentucky, Memphis)

    Tyler Jefferson, TE - Doss

    (Committed WKU, offered Tennessee-Martin

Andrew Hedger, TE - Dixie Heights

(Committed Austin Peay, Offered Fordham, Holy Cross,Hampton,)
