  1. I've been told if your really bent on a school and they like you, but are out of scholarships and have roster spots open that you can get a PWO. Of course your talent level to be there, along with the finances. You may have been the #3 tackle on their list but #2 committed and took the scholly. You may still get an opportunity to be there. Communication is key.

Looks like it paid off for him and a few others.

  2. Very True. I think Halpin at WKU started four or five games last year as a PWO. He has since earned a scholarship. I would be surprised if Mosier does not earn a scholarship at some point at UK. Also have read good things about Fogle.

Wow staring games as a PWO!! Great job by the young man. I would think most PWO had offers at smaller FCS schools.

    1. Air Force – Troy Timmerman (Cov Cath)
    2. Miami (OH) - Trevan Brown (Boone County)
    3. UC – Dominic Mainello (Beechwood)
    4. UC – Drake Bruns (Highlands)
    5. UC – Tyler Lyon (New Cath)
    6. UC – Michael Colosimo (Beechwood)
    7. UK – Austin Sheehan (Highlands)
    8. UK – Cameron Fogle (Conner)
    9. UK – Cole Mosier (Walton-Verona)
    10. UK – Drew Barker (Conner)
    11. UK – Jack Gruenschlager (New Cath)
    12. UK – Pat Towles (Highlands)
    13. WKU – Max Halpin (Cov Cath)
    14. WKU – Nick True (Highlands)

Are some of the kids above walking on??

  3. For those that said Cooper will have a down year they look good against Dixie. For those who say Dixie will be a contender in 6A. They look more like a pretender. I guess Dixie lost a lot of good Seniors last year.

You must have not stayed for the live action game....

  4. Question - how much did Hedger play at TE last year? I don't remember much about him from last season. In fact, was Hedger even their #1 TE last year? Didn't the Risch kid play TE? If I am correct in all this, I am curious as to the recruiting story that led to the D1 scholarship. It obviously makes me think it is all about hitting camps and getting seen there. Did Hedger go to a camp at Austin Peay? How did they even find him? I think the recruiting story would be helpful to others if someone knows the whole story and can share it.

The 6-foot-5, 225 pound Hedger has 47 career receptions for 527 yards and four touchdowns in his career.

Big numbers for a HS Tight End with one season to go..

Andrew was the starting TE. He was 2nd in rec. on Dixie last season. Camps and video. You could have great number as a TE but if your not the size no offers will come your way.

  6. Many coaches love huge tight ends, they see them as offensive tackles that can catch. They use them as tackles, to block, 70% of the time, then send them short when the defense adjusts. I think Andrew's size is what will keep him at tight end.

AP wants him at 245_250 range. He's 230. Coach Cannon sold Andrew with the statement "How would you like to get 40 reception a year."

Also AP said they are weak at TE. They need a guy that has the height to make plays over LBs and block DEs.

  7. First, congratulations to Hedger! He's a very good athlete and an even better kid. AP is getting a good one.

Second, and to your point, I believe the coach has mentioned how Hedge will play TE and that he thinks he can be a very good TE. Not sure it's in the plans to make him a lineman.

Playing TE is the reason Andrew picked AP.

  8. Many people have already reached that conclusion about you! I've been pretty modest about Dixie Heights and what they bring to the table this season...Dixie is very solid this year and should improve on last seasons 7-3 regular season record if they stay healthy. This is a great group of kids!

This group should do very well. When was they last time Dixie had two D1 players??? Should be a strong season.

  9. I hope they are being subjected to some type of background check.

I believe you are correct, you get asked to coach. You accept and parents are left to wonder if little Billy is being coached by a guy that got cut from his HS frosh team or played the trumpet. I remember a guy that coached that thought he was the next Lombardi only to find out he was a swimmer in HS with no FB experience at all.

Good thing my son played for the Spartans in the NKYFL. In his 7 years in the program he had a few coaches that played D-1 Football!!

  10. That's a downright disrespectful statement to make. Fred Bernier has only lost 2 games in two years since taking over. He is a one heck of a coach, and has been coaching longer than most of us have been alive. I don't care who the man is coaching for, he has earned and deserves some respect. Dissing RYLE as usual is one thing. Making a personal statement or attack like that is out of line.

Freshman football is not varsity football. Not ever close....
